My husband had the King Salmon and it was great also!! Desserts and port were yummy!!!!! Loved the outdoor patio dining! Weather was perfect and lots of celebrations all around us!!!   • "One dish--lamb--was excellent, but the wild King Pacific salmon was oddly flavorless. As east coasters who have Pacific King every week during the season (we just grill it with some olive oil and it's very flavorful) we thought that having it here in Sonoma, so much closer to the source, would be amazing. But this tasted completely washed out; without all the frou-frou accompaniment it would have been nothing. Very disappointing. Wine list also rather uninspired considering that we're in premiere wine country. Patio was very lovely atmosphere for dining, though."

  • "My husband and I and another went to El Dorado for a celebration and it was wonderful. They were happy to prepare things, including drinks how we wanted them prepared and the waiter was friendly and there when we wanted him. We changed tables because the sun was in our faces and they were happy to accommodate us. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. We ate outside and it was a gorgeous evening and we sat for a long time and that was fine with our server."

There is a hustle, bustle and energy that makes this large open room welcoming and fun. The food is great, as is the service. This is my go-to place on the square."

  • "Party of 5 we ate outdoors under the cabana which made me feel special! Loved the fig tree in the center of the courtyard and the wisteria around the courtyard felt like I was in the south. The service is 1st class without being over the top. 3 or us had the duck which was a smaller portion than expected but Delicious. the best dessert I have ever had, fried blueberry and a coconut sorbet to die for. My4th friend had Pork Chops topped with apricots which was the best meal at the table. The 5th friend who was a vegetarian had the cold corn chowder which was yummy and ravioli's which she said was good. I would recommend eating outside as its rather dark inside."

  • "The food makes up for some of the erratic service elements. We requested outdoors, but they seemed insulted that we actually expected that to happen (a large party just got here ahead of you? Huh?) We were made to wait to EXACTLY our reservation time (but still had to remind them we were there), although the restaurant was not nearly full. Seems they had to seat that BIG party first. The food is excellent, and, to a big extent. makes up for the poor front-of-house service. The experience was uncomfortable with our out-of-town guests. We have eaten here for years - some attention to the front of house action would be appreciated. G&F across the street seems to care whether we dine there.... maybe EDK can capture some of that empathy."

Had to ask for water, bread, no one came back to check on us and the waiters were not busy just inattentive...food way over-priced for what we received. Will not go back for a while. My wife who had gone there a few more times than I indicated that the service was spotty for her too."

  • "We were disappointed with our dining experience. It was rushed -- the appetizer we ordered came out of the kitchen immediately. We are foodies and were looking for a relaxing meal. The place was very busy, with many groups, and extremely loud. The servers were continually flying by our table. The food was good, but did not live up to the reputation we have heard about. We will not return. There are several other places on Sonoma square where you can get food of the same or better quality and have a more enjoyable dining experience."

My granddaughter, and I, had the sea food paella. Beautiful dish, and all the seafood was fresh,with an amazing sauce. It will be hard to order anything else next time. The grandmother unit had the Petaluma chicken - absolutely delicious. We sat next to the kitchen, which was fine. However, a employee was quickly wiping plates, and bowls, next to us - which was loud, and distracting. We mentioned it to him, and he quickly respected our request. The menu is an eclectic assortment of local and sourced ingredients that really shine. The oysters were crazy good for an appetizer. I had the duck confit and I thought it was very well executed. I really enjoyed how they made use of some lesser known ingredients. Next time I am in Sonoma I am coming back."

  • "The food was, as usual, fabulous. This is our favorite restaurant and we go whenever we can. The back patio is beautiful and cool on Sonoma evenings. Our server, Iz, was great. We both decided to have multiple small plates as opposed to one large dinner. The ambiance this particular evening was completely ruined by three adults sitting several tables over from us. They brought out an I Phone and started watching a video at HIGH volume. At first I thought "OK, fun home video will be over shortly." but it kept going and going. The volume was loud enough that it drowned out the music on the patio. This wend on for what felt like forever but was most likely 5 minutes. What appalled me more than their behavior was the servers said NOTHING."

I wound up with chicken that was OK but not great and I do not see Anything that an egg adds to these dishes. Would have liked another fish choice besides salmon.   • "Lovely outdoor patio and trendy inside seating. The menu for lunch needs to be broader. I only have one lunch option that I consistently like.... the vegetarian sandwich. The could improve using whole wheat chaibbata roll. The salads are too small, and I have had better reuben sandwich at community Cafe. Burger is good, but everyone is cutting back on red meat so not my standby order. If they could make a cobb salad like Breakaway Cafe, Greek salad like Hopmonk,and Mexican salad like LaCasa, I would make it my go-to downtown lunch spot. Dinner options are good, enjoyed last dinner there and everyone at table for 6 loved their meal too."
