El Dorado Kitchen
This is a warm, relaxed restaurantThis is a warm, relaxed restaurant with great food, right on Sonoma Plaza. i've dined their twice and each time the food and service was excellent. Beware the truffle fries; they are addictive6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFabTop notch all the way! Seafood paella is awesome and a great wine list. Service was impeccable!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood dining in SonomaAttractive restaurant and-a rarity these days- a place where diners can actually hear one another even on a busy sat night. Scallops were ex ellent; paella a little dry6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMostly very goodThe food was really quite good; we had paella, halibut, and scallops and everything was fresh and well-seasoned. Salads also good. Water service was very good; bread was timely though no offer of more after two small slices each. Service was the team approach and fine but not outstanding. Wine list is actually pretty unique but definitely marked up way too high. So overall, this is a good restaurant but would not rank in the top two or three on the Sonoma Plaza where there is a lot of competition. Would probably return but there are others in this area that are superior.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticThe food is excellent but the beet salad is a marvel!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food - Amazing ServiceIf you want to feel special and enjoy a great meal - this is the place! Warm and welcoming, the wait staff understand the joy of a lovely meal shared over a glass or two of wine with friends. The service here is top-line when compared to New York and SF - with a friendlier feel... Enjoy the food but return for the experience (we will)...6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSonoma StarThis is an elegant restaurant with edgy food selections and a wonderful wine list. Our server was well versed in the specialties and peculiarities of the menu as well as the boutique wines offered. We dined outside in one of the cabanas/tents, which on a warmer night would have been perfect but was a little cold and windy. The food was imaginative, creatively presented and delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant for foodies and all interested in great ambiance, serious food preparation and a vibrant scene.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is amazing! Our first visit to EDK and we were not disappointed!
The food was delicious, and I highly recommend the tuna tartare,
heirloom tomoato salad, and the duck. We will be back!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and reasonableBrought my fiance for his birthday this past weekend and had a lovely dinner on the back patio. Our dinner was excellent and we didn't break the bank. We especially loved the chilled corn soup - it had just a touch of sweetness - like eating corn right off the cob! We came back for breakfast the next morning and had the BEST churros I have ever eaten. They were coated in some kind of magic, buttery, caramelized glaze... mmmmmm. Phenomenal coffee as well. Even the decaf was rich and delicious. Definitely try this place for breakfast or dinner (or both!).6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but worth itVery creative menu. Everything we ordered was great: morel mushrooms, fried green tomatoes for appetizers; scallops and lamb as mains; tapioca with raspberry sorbet for dessert. Not overpriced for the quality.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Birthday Celebration! What terrific service we had and beautifully prepared food! The chef sent out a complimentary cold corn soup, and for the Birthday Girl, a beet and orange salad, as she cannot eat dairy. In fact, her entire meal was made without dairy, thanks to a very considerate server, Mike and chef. We shared a divine asparagus salad that looked like a work of art. I had pan roasted scallops that were perfectly cooked on a bed of cauliflower and other tasty accompaniments. My friend had the halibut on fresh corn and fava beans, again without the dairy. I wasn't familiar with the red wines by the glass, so I chose one, which I really didn't care for. No problem! Mike replaced it in an instant! He couldn't have been more attentive or efficient!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Had lunch recently with family and out-of-town friends. Was looking for a place with great food, great location, great service. Found it with El Dorado Kitchen! The food was fresh and innovative, but what really stood out was the service. Unfortunately I did not get the server's name, but he was without a doubt one of the best I've ever met! He was attentive without being pushy, had a wonderful sence of humor, and his food recommendations were spot-on. I will definitely return to this restaurant the next time I'm in Sonoma!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA popular and very good spotWe stayed at a B and B two blocks away from here on Memorial weekend. Our server was friendly and knowledgable, but was also overwhelmed. It took almost 30 minutes to get our bread and even longer for or appetizer. Once dinner came, it was fabulous. The best scallops I have ever had (and I have had a lot). My husband and I shared our entrees for a land and sea combo so we also had the tenderloin which was fabulous. Reservations are a good idea.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe kitchen continues to excelRemains an excellent choice, the kitchen is at its highest level in years. If you are looking for a sometimes more complex dining experience do dine here.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThey have upped their game! They have upped their game! Food among best in Sonoma.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable experienceUp to expectations from many past visits. Particularly good spot for Sunday brunch al fresco.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, but very noisyTruffle fries to die for. Starters, tuna tartare and mixed lettuce salad, were very good. Pork trio was excellent, but could have used a bigger bite of glazed pork belly. The roasted petaluma chicken was crispy and yummy; however the accompanying hash was a bit of a mess as the texture was mushy and the red peppers over powered the taste. Our server was top notch and attentive!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMStill deliversThe kitchen continues to deliver very good food. A excellent choice for lunch or dinner if you're looking for a more upscale experience.
Prices continue to be reasonable for what you get.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!So we were in Sonoma for the weekend and stopped into El Dorado Kitchen for lunch. The waiter was so lovely! He made excellent suggestions both for wine and for food - all of which we loved. The four of us split oysters and the burrata as apps, along with the truffle fries. My fiance and I each had a burger - delicious! Our friends had the pork tacos and fish tacos. Everything was super tasty and the ambiance and seating outdoors was just perfect! It could not have been a more relaxing lunch! We will 100% be back next time we are visiting!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMImproved and consistent. At present, the kitchen is producing marvelous salads, entrees and desserts. The potato & asparagus soup was a stunning visual with flavors to match. The entrees and three desserts arrived - more sharing and big smiles. I offered a New York 30% tip to the wait staff that was there when necessary and absent, otherwise. Perfect. Even the front staff including a taller young woman who's name I cannot recall, was there to greet with a gracious smile and attentiveness that followed us all the way to our table by the window. Yes, I would recommend El Dorado Kitchen to anyone looking for food that's a few clicks beyond the expected served in a very friendly yet professional manner.
D G5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Power - Expensive wine listTypical of the region they have a pretty good wine list, but it is a bit pricey. Food was above average and made with quality in mind. Staff was attentive and experienced. Good place for a romantic dinner.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible food, incredible serviceMy husband and I went on a Monday night. There was a good buzz in the restaurant. We both had the asparagus appetizer and the halibut for the main dish. The food was incredibly light, fresh and flavorful. I can not remember our waiters name, but he was the friendliest, happiest and knowledgeable of waiters. He definitely added to our experience.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not outstandingFood was very good but there are better restaurants in the area. Beet salad had too many ingredients and just did not work... I was disappointed because I normally love beat salads. My friends mussels were excellent, steaks very good. Worth eating here when you can't get a table at girl and a fig.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelish!!Took a friend here for a birthday lunch this weekend and it was GREAT! We had oysters and champagne to start, followed by pizza and risotto. The food was excellent, as was the service. I highly recommend!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a wonderful dinner!!My wife and I always come here for celebrations, it's the perfect place for an exquisite meal, delicious wine pairing and wonderful service!! Our server was the best, catered to our every request and did an amazing job!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough they were VERY lateAlthough they were VERY late seating us for our reservation, the staff at El Dorado Kitchen definitely made up for it! The food was outstanding (DO order a side of truffle fries as an appetizer--they will last through dinner, even with a party of four), the cocktails were inventive and delicious, and the waitstaff were fun and friendly. We were the last party left in the restaurant, but never felt rushed to complete our desserts or finish our wine. I will definitely go back, and recommend it to friends, but I'll make sure my reservation is earlier in the evening, and that I make it several days in advance.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service,Great food and great service, one of our Sonoma favorites, as always!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and fun placeIn all the times I've been to Sonoma I don't think I'd ever eaten here. Wow, great food and the wait staff was fantastic. I had the tuna tartare, which was amazing down to the last morsel, and the pork tenderloin with chard which was all just fantastic. I will not miss coming here in the future. One drawback: I had a reservation but was seated and re-seated twice. So, seated three times. That was a bit disconcerting. The waitress actually re-seated me the third time in a better location; she said, "Did you WANT to sit back here in this corner???" Really great gal. I'd say the front desk needs to be a bit more on top of things.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic, como siempre.Fantastic, como siempre. Top notch food -- asparagus with bacon and poached egg. Tuna tartare. Duck confirt salad. My mom's Rueben was the best I ever ever ever ate.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!We loved it here. The fried green tomatoes were so good as was both of our entrées. The service was great as well. It was our first time in Sonoma and we will definitely be coming back to this restaurant!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWow, well worth going! We were a group of six who wanted to talk with our family over lunch. When we first walk in you were greeted by a beautiful setting. We were seated promptly at a large table with comfortable chairs. The wait staff was fast, efficient, and very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and prepared to everyone's satisfaction. We would go again, especially for a special occasion.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the El Dorado KitchenWe love the El Dorado Kitchen we have been going back for many years and it's always on our list.Great food, great service, a bit noisy but everyone is just having a good time.
We reccomend to all of our friends when out in the area.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEl Dorado is a gemOur overall experience was wonderful. We started with a half order of the truffle fries, it did not disappoint. Then out came my husband's beet salad. It was beautifully presented. It was layered with so many great flavors. It consisted of gold beets, red beet paper, oranges apples, grapefruit, candied pistachio merengue. It looked gorgeous on the plate. My husband ordered the Paella and I had the Prime new york steak, both excellent.
Our service was excellent.
Do not miss the opportunity to eat here.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit andThis was my second visit and it did not disappoint. We took clients and everyone was impressed.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, underwhelming serviceIn Sonoma for my bachelor party weekend, we selected EDK for our first dinner. It did not disappoint. The patio atmosphere is straight out of a movie set, and the food is delicious. I had a young roasted beets salad with pistachio merengues and goat cheese foam to start. It needed more foam, but otherwise divine. I had pacific prawns risotto for my entree, which was amazing. I practically licked the bowl. Dessert, however, has just okay. I think it was an apple tart, but it wasn't very memorable. The wine list is great and the sommellier made good suggestions (not just the most expensive). Service was a bit lackluster. Waiter was very blase and not too attentive. Nothing was wrong, but I didn't feel valued or appreciated as a customer.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to El Dorado based uponWent to El Dorado based upon a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at. No problem getting a late reservation. Went for our anniversary so nice place to go to celebrate. Our waiter was excellent; very friendly and offered many suggestions. Overall food was okay; appetizers were better than our entrees. Would go again if we were in the area.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous hostess helped usFabulous hostess helped us find just the right table for an intimate conversation. The food was exceptional! The chef worked to alter a dish to work with my food allergies...and it was my favorite meal in Sonoma.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice and beyond our expectatioVery nice and beyond our expectations. A little pricey so not something we can do often but well worth the money. I wish the crab cake dish was larger. It would also be nice to have crab cakes as an entree. Thanks for the wonderful evening.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. PortionsFood was excellent. Portions are small. I would definitely go back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat RestaurantFood was fantastic. Chef Navarro does an excellent job and is very creative.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my family there forI took my family there for Easter Brunch which did not disappoint. Yummy choices for all ages (9-49 yrs), attentive service, great location on the Sonoma Plaza, of course.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's hard to imagine a moreIt's hard to imagine a more perfect evening. The food was fantastic, the service excellent and everyone in our large party of 8 had a wonderful meal.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMCocktails: The Clear ConscienceCocktails: The Clear Conscience was very fresh and thirst quenching – perfect for a summer day! My friend got the Bliss and loved it, said it could be dangerous it went down so well.
Food: I started with the beet salad that was sublime, the very thin slices of beets was very different and the goat cheese was so smooth and creamy - out of this world. I had the butter fish and the combo of olive tapenade and citrus and other sauce was really awesome when combined. My friend had the lobster risotto and it was so good and rich she couldn't finish it. I would like to come back and try the fried chicken and truffle fries, will save that for a lunch sometime in the future, but I will be back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I make the tripMy wife and I make the trip to Sonoma every year in March. The trip would not be complete without a visit to the ElDorado Kitchen. Although our favorite chef is no longer there, they still hit the mark with excellent food, environment and service.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMthe chef's tasting menu wasthe chef's tasting menu was terrific. service was outstanding.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved El Dorado Kitchen.I loved El Dorado Kitchen. The food and service were absolutely amazing. Because of the open space design it was definitely loud, but I had read previous reviews and was prepared for that. If you're looking for amazing food and nice night out with friends or as a couple, I would definitely recommend going. If you are looking for quiet dinner experience, it might not be the best place, however.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant that we certainlyGreat restaurant that we certainly will go back to, when we return to Sonoma.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Start for Wine TastingThe atmosphere is beautiful with antique lumber wainscoting and beams. We had four for lunch and the food was perfect. The burger is a good start to a day of wine tasting. The chopped salad was also a favorite.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AMprofessonal, good energy great foodOnce again our EDK is a hit. This time we had the duck and it was tasty and attractively presented. The tuna tartare is not to be missed. Professional courteous service is a standard here from the moment. W e walked in the door at the Hotel Eldorado.2/1/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably WonderfulReliably wonderful as always. We took a friend of ours here who is a hotelier and he was impressed. Great wine list and the server totally understood our request to split the scallop entree as an hors d'oeuvre between us. You can count on our "EDK" to please. And try the J Pinot. It rocks.1/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
