Diner Reviews
  • "Our service was excellent and the blended margarita was okay, but El Ranchito beats you out on the blended margaritas. Food was tasty."

  • "We live in Arizona but travel frequently to CA. Previously we absolutely loved El Corazon & brought locals with us to enjoy it. We eagerly brought my sister for her birthday. Unfortunately, they changed everything that was GREAT about the place and now the only perk is the beautiful patio - if you are inclined to spend too much money on mediocre Mexican food while dining al fresco. I was addicted to the tropical salsa - which they took off their menu. The tableside guacamole is no longer tableside and no longer has any flavor - I have never had worse guacamole. They no longer have Horchata and they no longer have the wonderful flambé dessert show."

  • "Food was so so. Drinks are great and nice outdoor ambiance. Service is slow and staff is lacking. Not much of a crowd either. Recommend the place across the way for people and more loud fun. If you like quiet, this is a fine place."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed our experience. We went for a date night and felt like we weren't at a busy shopping area. The ambiance is very serene and romantic if you are outside under one of the palapas. My husband is very picky when it comes to food and he said he really enjoyed what he had. I had the fajitas and I felt they were ok. They were lacking some seasoning but everything else was great."

  • "The patio is the place to dine. We had a late Valentine's Day Dinner with a bunch of girlfreinds, reservations were at 8:30pm. Our waiter was knowledable and advised us of the hugh burito portions, so we decided to each split a burrito between two and it was a great idea. The patio is beautiful, with comfy big chairs and beatiful fire pits. The prices are very reasonable. We had an excellent time and will be back!"

  • "El Corazon is an amazing place for a romantic evening...outside seating by the fire setting. Dim lights its beautiful. Dinner special for Valentines..camarones and chips, shrimp chile rellenos awesome , steak medium well, but the chocolate flan is to die for..definately reccommend. El"

  • "Ordered the most expensive thing on the menu. It was an inedible, dried up relic. Sent it back. They did not charge me for it and comp'd my glass of wine, but really!!! The wait staff tried hard but the kitchen failed them."

  • "I have been to El Corazon on several occasions and I chose this resturant and date for my birthday. I was very disappointed. First, the items on the menu are not correct. My father wanted to order corn chowder (which is on the menu) and was informed that was no longer on the menu. Second, my brother ordered enchiladas which stated it came with 3 enchiladas, it did not it came with 2. Third, I requested the bar nuts to be informed that they no longer had them and lastly the margaritas taste like they have no alcohol at all in them. The food was definitly not as good as previous times. I am disappointed and question if I should return again."

  • "Chips & salsa goog, guaq ok, service slow, food not much flavor. Had to try it because the outside patio is very nice. Won't go back till the get better."

  • "I did not know that there is a new owner. The kitchen was very slow as to getting our meal to us. Kind of killed the night as far as going out and enjoying the rest of the night. The service was fabulous. I may go back just for that reason. If this place gets crowded, the wait will be about 1 hour to get your food. Over all, the food was ok, tasted way better seeing that we were starving, but loaded up n the chips and dip"

  • "The staff was top notch. Attentive, nice, accommodating and friendly. Service was excellent. Unfortunately all of the food was bland and tasteless. Was so disappointed."

  • "The Margarita Grande's are $15 and $18 respectively for a big glass of ice and mix. One of the worst Margs we have ever had. Even after informing the waiter the drinks still came back with nothing but ice and mix. The salsa for chips is nothing but tomato paste. No flavor. This is supposed to be an authentic Mexican restaurant with sabor. For being a new restaurant the outdoor heaters are falling apart and had to be taped to work correctly. Need to spice things up a bit or even offer hotness levels. Need to change or they will not last long in this arena."

  • "Beautiful place with excellent customer service but sadly poor food. The refried beans were dry and stale as was the rice. The garlic shrimp had no flavor, wasn't grilled, and came out cold. The ceviche was too spicy and the Margarita was too strong. Food really needs to step it up to match the ambiance and the prices."

  • "I love coming to El Corazon because the staff is always so friendly. I make sure to let them know when it's a special occasion because they go the extra step in making it special. My last visit was on NYE which also coincided with my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. The reservation was made easily enough using OpenTable. We arrived 20 minutes early and were still seated promptly. I left specific instructions to be seated near a fire pit and my wish was fulfilled. The Al Pastor burrito was delicious, as were the flambéed bananas. Thank you to El Corazon for being so kind, personable, and going the extra mile to ensure a wonderful anniversary dinner. We'll see you soon!"

  • "The food matters. Our large group ordered a variety of items and everyone had fair ratings for their meal. The place looks and feels alive but the food was just okay."

  • "Went for New Year's Eve. Waited for 20 minutes for a server to show up. Waited 15 minutes for chips and drinks to arrive after. Finally got our food.... Which was mediocre, and the drinks were so watered down! Then waited 20 minutes for our bill. The staff knew they were doing poorly, becasue the manager came around twice to ask us about our service, and every table around us (including us) got free dessert (which wasn't great either)."

  • "This was my 3rd visit and I was shocked to see how a restaurant with such great potential could fail due to the worst service that I have ever had. Our service (who shall remain nameless) took 15 minutes to bring us our drinks. We also ordered the tableside guacamole upon arrival and 30 minutes later it had still not arrived. 30 more minutes. I spoke to the manager who informed me that the person who makes the guacamole had not arrived to work yet. It was 6 PM. Once it did arrive (one hour after we did) it was excellent. Unfortunately our dinner arrived first. Mark the manager was very apologetic and really made every effort to improve our experience. Mark gets high marks for his effort but unfortunately the restaurant gets an “F”."

  • "Sat outside on a chilly night but never knew it with the heaters and blankets that are thrown over the chairs for just this occasion. The ambience was comfortable and romantic. The flamming bananas were especially delicious!"

  • "My wife and I went with another couple and had a great time. We sat outside on the huge patio. Even though it was a cool night the patio had heaters and fire pits to keep it nice and warm. The servers were friendly and attentive and answered all questions. Each of us ordered different plates (diff tacos and enchiladas) and each of us shared giving us a variety. All and all this is place that had good food and drinks and the service was great. I will return and recommend to friends."

  • "Waited 20 min for water.... Food took another 30 min and was cold... Forgot about drink orders and restaurant wasn't even busy. Very sad because it is a great looking restaurant and great location. Manager should be more hands on the micro manage his people"

  • "I made a reservation to arrive at 8pm. Upon check in, the hostess let me know that our online check in will be considered the same as a walk up/same day reservation. The wait was 20-30 minutes. It was not a warm greeting, and I was made to feel 'stupid' for using the Internet to make a reservation.... It made No sense. Free round of drinks was a nice gesture, but comps seem to be common place. If the job is done right the first time, comps aren't needed. Our service and good was very good after being seated. According to tge hostess, you must call the restaurant to set a reservation for her to consider valid. ???"

  • "The service was awful. Drinks arrived 30 minutes after we ordered them. Our food did not come out in a timely manner, either. For the price, there are better and less expensive options in the area."

  • "We felt like we were somewhere in Mexico or the Bahamas. The corn chowder is wonderful and so is the berry salad. Other than that we did not enjoy our other food or our drinks, but we did love the look and feel of the place. We do not live far away so we will give it another try simply because we enjoyed the patio so much."

  • "The good: They did a great job designing the outside space (minus the dance music). Nice lighting, fireplaces and heat lamps, comfy chairs & blankets for your lap make outside dining cozy and festive. Regarding the food, the chicken enchiladas and beans were tasty. The not so good: Flavored margarita was completely watered down; waste of money. Hamachi appetizer was off -couldn't discern the fish from the other vegetables. It also arrived with our entrees which was highly irritating. Fish tacos are battered, unfortunately the batter was not crispy but doughy. In fairness, the manager did comp the app and bring us each a shot of tequila on the house. We appreciated the gesture, but it was not enough to get us back here for dinner."
    Dined on 10/25/2013
  • "Our waitress was extremely rude. I love the scene the restaurant it is very beautiful but I would honestly never come back due to the rude waitress, poor quality of tacos, price for sure, and at how slow it was getting our food. The happy hour list does not include very much and still items are way over priced."

  • "Arrived before 6 to beat crowds and try Happy Hour Menu.Cute decor; provided lap blankets for patio dining(sit in patio if you can). Employees were cheerful, welcoming; managers a plenty Ordered table side guacamole, quesadillas, and a la carte tacos. BIG note the pork taco meat is not carnitas and all the meat is cubed. Best appetizer was the quesadillas with chicken. Tacos were ok but overpriced-$3.50 -5.50 EACH. Make sure you read the FINE print as there is an upcharge on most everything. As the crowds came in, the service went south FAST. It took so long to get refills and to get our bill. House Margaritas were mediocre, food was just OK. Bananas flambe was delicious and prepared amazingly. Have to think hard about coming back."

  • "Over the course of our 1 hour meal, no joke we were asked 15 times how we were doing. Is it possible to be too nice. This included 3 different managers. Food was okay, not impressed. The setting was fun"

  • "I think this place is so new that it has not become a smooth flowing restaurant yet. Maybe in time. I don't see any indoor dining area and that will not fit all people. They were very kind to let us bring in our birthday cake!"

  • "Their outdoor seating is very nice, the server was very attentive and efficient but the food needs improvement. We will probably give it another shot in a couple of month since it's fairly new but if the food is still the same I don't think we'll be back."

  • "Food was very poor overall. Had the fajitas and steak was hard to chew and not flavorful. Drinks were terrible. I paid $18 for a margarita that contained about 50% soda water! To be clear any amount of soda water in a margarita in not Ok with me. The service was friendly but very spotty."

  • "Customer service is ridiculous here and management really needs to step up their game on this. We were promptly seated on time with our reservation and was told by the hostess that we had the best table in the place....well, more like the best table to NOT GET SERVICE! We sat for 20 mins waiting for someone to attend to us....during the wait we kept trying to get servers and waiters that walked near us their attention, but they purposely ignored us. We just walked out of there and went to another restaurant in the area. I won't be returning regardless if the food is good....if the service is horrible, then I expect the same with everything else in that place."

  • "No one to greet us when we walked in. Had to hunt down a server who was frazzled and sweaty to seat our party of 5. Once seated and our drink order was taken it took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks. Had to hunt down another waiter when ours disappeared. Our food was tasteless and my butterflied shrimp had the shells left on. Not a great choice in dim lighting. My first bite was all shell. I've got to give them credit for the outdoor seating area, but that's about all this place has going for it. Go to Javier's. you'll have a better experience."

  • "It was my daughters 38th birthday, my wife and I had eaten here once before. The food was fabulous. Real traditional Southern Mexico food. Cooked over Mesquite, The seafood selections were minimal but the everything, was prepared with that homemade taste. They serve beans and rice with most entrees but it was Black beans, yucatan style from southern mexico. I prefer them to regular refritos. Not so heavy and they contain more fibre. Ceviche is there only appetizer, but they have three kinds and they are all excellent. A must try for desert are their "BANANAS ON FIRE" when we want Mexican food, or great casual dinning, El Corazon is going to be our choice."

  • "The food at el corazon never disappoints, but the service does. It often takes quite a awhile for someone to even come over to your table to take a drink order. Then you're often waiting an even longer time for your drinks to come out. We ordered table side guacamole but our meals came before the guacamole! If el corazon could get their service and timing better synced then it would be 5 star rated all around. However we keep going back cause we do love the food."
