We specialize in wonderfully prepared seafood and steaks. El Cisne also carries a wide variety of beers, wines and liquors including exceptionally prepared specialty drinks. Beer and wine were also brought by immigrants to Mexico. Many of these are now favorites in the United States and several other countries.

  • "We were at the Westin La Paloma and looking for some Mex food and a cool beer. We found this spot and got in without a hitch, was waited on promptly, served a hot meal and enjoyed the time there"

  • "This restaurant desperately needs " The Mystery Dinner" to go in and fix it if that is even possible. The hostess was never at her stand and people had to wait until she decided to return. We were finally seated and then totally ignored until we finally caught a busser and asked for water and a menu. After 10 to 15 minutes wait a server came over took our order then promptly disappeared to the back with most of the rest of the servers. We were beginning to wonder if there was a party going on in the kitchen since no one was on the floor more then a few short minutes. We were looking forward to our dinning there as it's very close to home and could have become a regular place to go."

  • "I went to the El Cisne with no expectations and left a fan. The restaurant is nicely done. We were greeted with a friendly hello at the door an the sounds of live guitar in the background. The food was very tasty and the waiter helpful. I would recommend El Cisne to any of my friends."

  • "El Cisne has very good mexican food. Seafood, steak, and pork specialties go beyond basic Sonoran fare. Waiter was pleasant, but when he moved through the dining room from taking an order to placing it with the kitchen or bar he did not look around to check on service needs at the tables. This made it very difficult to catch his eye for any service needs. Otherwise the food was very good, and because we were not in a hurry it was okay that it took us a while to make eye contact to flag down the waiter. One more suggestion - invest in a bartender who knows how to make a pisco sour - my drink was okay, but it didn't taste anything like pisco sours served in Peru or Chile where the drink was invented!"

  • "We've been there several times. Always greeted warmly when we arrive but the service has always been terrible. We were a party of 9this week and were served chips and salsa fairly quickly but had to ask for water. I tried to get someone's attention for at least 5 minutes, possibly 10. No one even looked at us. Finally I got our server to the table and she did get us water. Also, she constantly tried to upsell us, which would have been fine if she'd been more attentive in the first place."

  • "El Cisne is a great recent addition to the Mexican restaurant scene in Tucson's foothills. Very pleasant layout with nice sized tables, comfortable space between the tables, and clean and colorful tablecloths. The bar is nicely separated from the dining area. Live music the night we were there was very nice, and not so loud that it interfered with the dining experience. Menu is complete with the usual Mexican fare, but also includes some unexpected (and delicious) items. Service was pleasant and attentive, without being annoying. Overall - highly recommended. "

  • "El Cisne is not the usual Mexican restaurant. It is more upscale, and the entrees are not the usual tamales, burritos, chimis, etc. Rather, the food is more Mexico City elegant. The atmosphere is quiet and understated. The service could have been a little quicker (server was a little slow in getting our dessert order)."

  • "We received water, chips and salsa, and our margaritas fairly quickly. We gave a simple food order of soup and enchiladas and said we wanted to be sure we'd be through in time for the concert nearby. Others around us were served, finished, left, and we waited and waited. After 30 minutes, we tried to get the attention of waiters removing dishes from adjoining tables, finally sought the manager. Our waiter had never appeared. Still no food after 45 minutes so we knew we had no time to eat. As we left the table, our waiter rushed up with the soup and enchilada (had red sauce instead of green sauce as ordered). We were told a huge party of over 20 had caused our food to be held up until they were all served. No charge for two drinks."

  • "El Cisne is a very attractive dining room with a lot of attention to creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.. The service was very good and timely. There were four of us all ordering different dinners and all were happy. The chile relleno was exceptionally light and the fish tacos were quite good - all accompanied with rice and a choice of refried beans or black beans. The portions are ample; you definitely do not leave hungry. Definitely will return."

  • "My wife and I took two friends to dinner Friday evening. We've been to El Cisne a couple of times before, last winter. The food was just as excellent as we remembered it, and the service was even better. My wife has some severe dietary restrictions, and the server was fully attentive to her needs and helped her choose appropriate dishes. The drinks, appetizers, and main courses all appeared at just the right intervals, and we were well supplied with chips and their excellent salsa. We arrived early, 5 PM, which was good, because at 6:30, as we were just finishing our food but still chatting, amplified live music drowned out all further conversation and we had to leave. A disappointing end to a nice dinner."

  • "It was a busy restaurant being Valentines day. It was loud and the service was slow. The food was good but very pricey for the quality. The Ceviche was good but not worth the 12.00 price tag and the seven seas soup did not have enough sea food to even be called Siete Mares also a whooping 19.95 for shallow bowl. So if you enjoy good food but high prices I would recommend this restaurant."

However we sat for 5 minutes before even being approached by our waitress, and then weren't even offered drinks or appetizers. It was about 20 minutes before our order was even taken. I will note that neighboring tables were getting better service than ours so it may have been bad luck for us."

  • "We had heard good things about the owner and staff, and the menu looked good...but it just wasn't good....My mole was just so-so, my friend's pork was so overcooked she couldn't eat it, and the cheese enchiladas were just ok... Good things: staff was so friendly and attentive, delicious hot sauce, good corn tortillas...If I lived in Tucson I would probably give it another try...But being from out of town I won't go back...."

  • "Non-attentive service. Appetizer arrived after dinner entree was served, and was not as described in the menu. Took a very long time for all food items to arrive at table after it was ordered--almost an hour. I will never return, and would not recommend to anyone. Food was only so-so."

  • "Started out at the bar as were awaiting another to join us. Drinks were done perfectly (mojito and margarita). Also ordered Calamari, as appetizer, it was done perfectly, but took half hour to arrive. Food was of mixed quality. The rib eye was very grisly, so would not recommend, the seafood stuffed peppers were excellent; as was the seven sea treasures soup. Service was quick and efficient, and the noise level did not interfere with table conversation. Restaurant was crowded and it was a Wednesday night."

  • "Had friends visiting from out of state, randomly picked for its Southwestern food. Great margaritas, not one diner was disappointed in their meal. Scallops and shrimp were done perfectly, more traditional dishes were excellent. We were celebrating a birthday and all staff came with a candle in a lovely slice of flan and sang the happy birthday song along with us. Definitely a restaurant worth coming back to."

  • "La Placita Cafe had always been a favorite when owned by the current owner of El Cisne, so that why we ventured outside our own neighborhood to try this new spot. Upon entering the restaurant, a definite odor of fish emanated - El Cisne is known for its fresh seafood but a no odor entrance would have been preferred Our dinners were all good; we all ordered different entrees (three fish and one chicken chime) - sides were all the same, but that was okay. Salsa was excellent. Ambiance was okay, but nothing special. I wouldn't race back for another meal but certainly dinner was good….."

  • "All the food from the salsa to the seafood are so fresh and flavorful. The food is not heavy and greasy, just fresh and clean. The shrimp dishes are so delicious. We have dined there twice and would highly recommend it. The margaritas are made with real lime juice, not from a mix. The restaurant is kept clean. It is nice to have such a gem in the foothills. I can't wait to go back!!!"

  • "We went to El Cisne for lunch after reading about it in a local magazine, the Desert Leaf. We started with the usual complementary chips and salsa, and my husband ordered the Picodillo del Oceano--a chile relleno stuffed with crab and shrimp, deep fried and then topped with a tomato sauce. He thought it was one of the best chiles rellenos he had ever had. I had the Ceviche del Mar, which was also excellent. We would certainly recommend that you try it!"

  • "A friend and I had dinner here two days ago as both our wives were otherwise occupied. My buddy ordered the special chicken enchiladas and I had the Cabrilla. For my money, this is the best Mexican food in town. The ambiance is sedate and classy; the service could not have been better, and the food was wonderful."

El Cisne, at the NE corner of Swan and Sunrise, has a slightly more formal atmosphere, with actual white table clothes, but is not at all pretentious nor expensive. There is a nice variety of offerings, from usual Mexican fair (enchiladas, burritos, tacos) as well as a great selection of seafood dishes. We find their food well prepared, delicious and at a reasonable price, and the staff is very attentive. Chips and salsa, to get you started, are complimentary."

When the server did come over, she was pleasant and accommodating but service continued to be a bit slow. The food was fine; just nothing special."
