El Chorro’s culinary vision features classic cuisine favorites with a Southwestern-inspired influence. The menu offerings center on fresh, organic and locally grown ingredients – including herbs and produce from the El Chorro garden located right outside the kitchen.



The restaurant and event venues have recently been restored, renovated and enhanced to further preserve this landmark’s rustic charm. El Chorro became the first restaurant in Arizona to earn the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) Gold Certification.

  • "The best meal we have had at El Charoro ever! The food was very good and presented beautifully, I was very impressed. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. The host also was very welcoming. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and we were brought a complimentary dessert for the occasion. Looking forward to returning, and yes, the sticky buns are still the best!"

  • "I have lives in the valley for over 34 years and this was my first visit. The service was exemplary. The wine list is varied and has something for everyone. The meals were prepared perfectly. Phillip, our server, was fun and catered to our parties every need. They have an amazing patio and the service on the patio was excellent as well. Nicole went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we wanted. I was also very happy to see that they have a bocci grass court along with several fireplaces and fire pits. Cannot wait for our next visit."

  • "We had a reservation for 3 at 11:00 AM on Sunday. We were promptly seated upon arrival. The waiter greeted us upon being seated and took our drink order. The food arrived very soon after being ordered and was of great quality and properly prepared. The inside dining room had tables spaced to where diners could move about without bumping anyone. Several elderly patrons had room to move about with walkers or wheel chairs. The waiter came several times to check on us and refill water glasses. A very historic old restaurant that delivers an outstanding experience."

  • "Sitting on the patio underneath the shade of an umbrella and in between misters and a/c (yes, even outside), my girlfriend, her 18 month old daughter and myself were all able to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere on the patio for brunch despite the 98 degree temps. I had the almond crusted trout with green beans and potatoes, she had the steak tenderloin, eggs and potatoes. The menu is classic American brunch fare, with nothing particularly interesting or compelling. Plain jane offerings executed well enough, the sticky buns were amazing and gratis! Service at the host stand was fantastic, the hostess was very friendly and showed us all of our seating options, and got us coloring books for the toddler. Our server Julio was great as well."

  • "I'm a huge fan of this restaurant. The property is beautiful. Rich in history if you are lucky enough to hear about it. The service is always top notch. Everyone is very polite. I take all my out of town visitors here. The view and food are GREAT! Of course you have to have their renown sticky buns."

  • "We have made several visits a year to El Chorro and have never been disappointed. Who can resist the sticky buns! What makes this restaurant stand apart from others is the outstanding attention to detail on the service. You are never left alone thinking when is someone going to come by and (fill in the blank with your own pet issue). Food is not on the trendy side, but always good. We will continue to return."

  • "The service was impeccable. I ordered rack of lamb, medium rare, and my friend ordered a pork dish. My lamb was well done. The service did correct this by taking it and offering to bring another, which he did. However, the removal of my meal left my companion to eat alone. I also ate alone when the new order came. Accomadation should have been made so we could enjoy our meal together. Then, since my meal came after hers, when she was done her plate was removed while I was still eating. To remove a plate while another is still eating results in feeling rushed. Not a good practice. An apology was offered along with an offer for dessert. Even so I still felt the quality was diminished and reflected poorly on El Chorrros reputation."

  • "After not coming to el chorro for years if not decades, I've been her twice this summer. Already. I plan to return. There is nothing else like El Chorro in town. Maybe in all the West that I've visited save Sante Fe or napa/sonoma wine country. It's authentic, romantic, and very special as opposed to the created environments of most other restaurants in town. Kinda like Paris vs Disneyland Paris. Thanks, I'll be back."

  • "The scenery was amazing from where I sat, I was able to see the beautiful Arizona sunset along the nearby mountain range. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the NY Prime Steak and my girlfriend had the Center Cut Filet and I had the pleasure to experience both flavors and I do say they were marvelous. Great time and many memories at El Charro."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary with appetizers and drinks at the bar. The margaritas and fish tacos were very good. We both ordered sea bass for dinner along with a Mexican soup, jicama slaw, asparagus and salad. The "fresh catch of the day" was tasteless and smelly. We sent it back and my husband ordered salmon which was very good, but a little too salty. I did not order anything else. However, the rest of the meal delicious. The service was outstanding! Our waiter was eager to please us and the manager came to our table to apologize. He offered us 2 desserts "on the house" which were amazing and did not charge us for the meal which was not replaced. They were professional, friendly and very, very service oriented."

  • "My husband & I have been to El Chorro a few times -- and it will always be on our list as a favorite place to eat. The history of the building, the architecture, landscape and artwork offer a feeling of being in the Southwest. The food has always been very good and the service is the same. At our last visit (the restaurant was not too busy being summer), our waiter was kind enough to give us a short tour. I had the kale salad and my husband had the wedge salad - both outstanding! For dinner we both had the fresh catch (I usually have the trout) -- again very good. We will be back again soon!"

We were celebrating a birthday and the dessert provided was beautiful but the waiter's attitude spoiled our time there. Note: the waiter handled each water glass and each coffee cup by the rim. Disgusting!"

  • "We took my cousin to El Chorro for her birthday. Per our request, we had a fabulous table with a wonderful view of the mountains. The food was excellent from the famous El Chorro Sticky Buns down to the Homemade Pie of the Day, which was blackberry. The Shrimp Pepper Pot was delicious . The Kale Salad was also delicious and imaginative . Two of us had Braised Beef Short Ribs, which was very tender and flavorful. One of us had the Classic Beef Stroganoof, also an excellent choice. We shared the homemade blackberry pie, which was filled with blackberries with a very tender crust and delicious vanilla ice cream. The wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the food, personable and very professional. A birthday to remember."

If we had know we would have chosen one dessert to share, as the ones we received were not very good. It was a beautiful evening other than that."

The saving grace was the fabulous Bass that my daughter in law and I had. The service was perfect as was the atmosphere. I hope next time they will be a bit more prepared for the special event and menu offerings."

They knew all these people had reservation ......... on top of that the Fathers Day Special ran out and they substituted it. O.K. that can happen but still no excuse to wait 20/30 minutes for a drink (and it was terrible - I sent it back) and the same for the food, the same for the dessert - no, we wont be going back there......."

  • "We hadn't been to El Chorro in years (BC, Before Children), and found it to be as charming as we remembered. Great ambience in a Sante Fe style old building, and windows looking out onto the desert garden landscaping. The food was delicious and generously portioned; the basket of cinnamon rolls went perfectly with the coffee. My husband and I had poached eggs and unfortunately felt ill later in the day, but other than that, it was a great place to have our Father's Day celebration."

  • "Quiet table on the patio with a beautiful view of the mountains at sunset but the patio itself is not as nice looking as shown on their website. We didn't order fish because the Wild Salmon was from Tasmania as Alaskan was not yet available, an unlikely story, and the trout was farm raised in Tasmania and the grouper was overpriced at $38. The ribs were tasty but stringy. They substitute sticky buns, like cinnabuns at rest stops, for bread. The sugar is sure to kill any appetite. Our food was served before the waiter even had a chance to bring us a glass of wine and the place was relatively empty at 7:00 P.M. It also told us that the food was completely pre-prepared. The crème brulee with a cactus cookie was good. "

  • "A traditional dining experience. They treat you the way a customer likes to be treated. They greet you with a smile and look directly at you to make sure you feel your welcomed. The food is expensive because of the time and effort that is put into it. You can't find this type of meal many places in the Valley. I have lived here 33 years, and we keep coming back. "
