The setting is wonderful, views very enjoyable. Service was very good as well. What was disappointed was that two of our party shared the "rack" of lamb entrée - at $48 total or $24 each - to discover that a "half-rack" consisted of one (1) lamb chop. $24 for a single lamb chop seems unreasonable, and a true rack of lamb consists of as many as eight chops when I buy it. The value here is terrible and if you have a large appetite I recommend you fill up on the sticky buns (which are excellent) before your "rack" arrives.

The ambiance at El Chorro is outstanding. Therefore it is disappointing when the rest of the dining experience doesn't measure up. The food, on this occasion was average. Highlight was the wedge salad. My filet, served after an interminable wait, was overdone. My wife thought her pork tenderloin was excellent. The chocolate dessert was dry. Perhaps it was the chaos of restaurant week since our previous experiences have been far better. Obviously the kitchen was experiencing a problem since the delay between salad and entree was so long.

THANK YOU for making our night out so memorable! You had set up a beautiful table on the patio, and were so accommodating regarding our number changes. The setting was serene and absolutely perfect. John, our server, was just great and did everything possible to make it special. My guests were all Canadian and they kept saying how lucky I was to have such a setting where I live! They're right! I can't say enough about what a great evening it was, and El Chorro, our iconic, neighborhood gem, had everything to do with making it outstanding.

Our first time experience at El Chorro more than met my expectations. Upon being seated immediately at the best table on the patio with a killer view of the sunset on Camelback Mt, our waiter, Leopold, introduced himself and explained the menu options. Service was timely and efficient, yet unobtrusive. Food presentation met the excellent taste and quality as well. The pork tenderloin was so tender and moist, that I was able to cut it with a fork. A creamy cheesecake topped off the evening with moonlight shining on the mountain. I definitely will be back on a regular basis. One of the premier restaurants in the Scottsdale area for sure.

Very good breakfast with a beautiful surrounding. We had some champagne with our meal that our server recommended and it was very good. This isn't your typical brunch where you wait in line and see the same old mounds of eggs and overdone bacon. You order from the menu and enjoy being waited on. I had the eggs with bacon. It probably doesn't sound very exciting, but the presentation along with the service is worth it. Their cinnamon rolls are to die for!

This was our third visit. We were relegated to the more dreary back room for Sunday brunch, where the families/children are put. They may have decided to provide the more desirable, scenic locations only to hotel guests. If so, this will be our last visit. The experience wasn't as enjoyable as before.

This was one of many visits we have experienced, having lived in Scottsdale for over 19yrs, but have for the past seven years in Lincoln, Ne. We were quite impressed with the physical change in the restaurant, bar and the valet services. It was a wonderful night, weatherwise, and enjoyed the time there again. The food was as usual...perfect. Servers were polite and timely. Forgot to take home our sticky buns and our credit card, however, your people called us on our phone and we took care of the credit card issue by destroying the item. My thanks to all of you, we will return in March, 2015 and join you again.

The view was pretty and the service was very good. Eric was our waiter and he was very attentive and on top of things. The food however was a disappointment and our $120 would have been well spent elsewhere. We are foodies and have been to a ton of restaurants here in AZ and this place was not impressive. The best part of the meal were the sticky buns. The filet was dry and the side items were nothing to brag about. The most disappointing part of the meal was dessert. The apple pie a la mode came out cold (the pie part). I asked for my ice cream on the side but the pie itself was cold. Shouldn't Apple pie be warm especially when served with ice cream? That's the best part is mixing the warm with the cold. We will not be back.

I decided to try the Kale Salad and it was wonderful. Chicken (not calves) Livers were on the menu as an appetizer. I ordered it as my entree and took some home. It was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious. My dining partners had the Grouper Special and the Rack of Lamb. Everything was superbly prepared. As a senior who likes to dine out, neither me nor my dining companions have EVER had such wonderful service. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and the restaurant itself has a lot of charm.

As first time diners at El Chorro, their prix fixe program over the Labor Day weekend was what led us to make a reservation for dinner there. It was great, and was an excellent value in comparison to their regularly priced normal menu items. We'll be back if they have similar prix fixe offerings in the future.

We went as a business group for a formal dinner and were amazed at how beautiful El Chorro was and how friendly the staff was. While we had a reservation, they graciously allowed us to "miss it" to enjoy cocktails on the outside patio with the sun set. Our server, Julio, was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make wine recommendations based on what we ordered. The food is beautifully prepared and worth going to try. For a celebratory dinner to a business type event, El Chorro will remain on our list going forward.

The sticky buns they bring to the table are great. All meals were delicious. Husbands steak was the best he had all week. The salmon was the only thing my son finished all week. Phillip, our server, was fun and catered to our parties every need. They have an amazing patio and the service on the patio was excellent as well. Nicole went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we wanted. I was also very happy to see that they have a bocci grass court along with several fireplaces and fire pits. We had a reservation for 3 at 11:00 AM on Sunday. We were promptly seated upon arrival. The waiter greeted us upon being seated and took our drink order. The food arrived very soon after being ordered and was of great quality and properly prepared. The inside dining room had tables spaced to where diners could move about without bumping anyone. Several elderly patrons had room to move about with walkers or wheel chairs. The waiter came several times to check on us and refill water glasses. A very historic old restaurant that delivers an outstanding experience.

Sitting on the patio underneath the shade of an umbrella and in between misters and a/c (yes, even outside), my girlfriend, her 18 month old daughter and myself were all able to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere on the patio for brunch despite the 98 degree temps. I had the almond crusted trout with green beans and potatoes, she had the steak tenderloin, eggs and potatoes. The menu is classic American brunch fare, with nothing particularly interesting or compelling. Plain jane offerings executed well enough, the sticky buns were amazing and gratis! Service at the host stand was fantastic, the hostess was very friendly and showed us all of our seating options, and got us coloring books for the toddler. Our server Julio was great as well.

What makes this restaurant stand apart from others is the outstanding attention to detail on the service. The service was impeccable. I ordered rack of lamb, medium rare, and my friend ordered a pork dish. My lamb was well done. The service did correct this by taking it and offering to bring another, which he did. However, the removal of my meal left my companion to eat alone. I also ate alone when the new order came. Accomadation should have been made so we could enjoy our meal together. Then, since my meal came after hers, when she was done her plate was removed while I was still eating. To remove a plate while another is still eating results in feeling rushed. Not a good practice. An apology was offered along with an offer for dessert. Even so I still felt the quality was diminished and reflected poorly on El Chorrros reputation.
