El Chorro’s culinary vision features classic cuisine favorites with a Southwestern-inspired influence. The menu offerings center on fresh, organic and locally grown ingredients – including herbs and produce from the El Chorro garden located right outside the kitchen.

The restaurant and event venues have recently been restored, renovated and enhanced to further preserve this landmark’s rustic charm. El Chorro became the first restaurant in Arizona to earn the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) Gold Certification.

Diner Reviews
  • "Food and service on the patio was well done. Service at the tables next to bar for serving bar patrons was not very attentive and it was difficult to get our servers attention to refill drinks or accommodate new arrivals to our table."

  • "nothing at all to complain about! From the tequila cocktails ,salads and to the entree the whole experience was wonderful. We will bring friends with us next time. Scenery was beautiful and plenty of seating . 2 patios of outdoor seating."

  • "We have spent 4 months in Scottsdale each year for the last 14 years. We discovered the old El Chorro Lodge via several recommendations regarding outdoor ambiance and go there several times each year. It is a very good upscale dining location and the patio is an excellent place to enjoy the sunset. We recommend the El Chorro for those who good food and exceptional outdoor ambiance."

  • "Excellent top notch service. It just can't get better than the two servers we received."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at El Chorro's recently and it was really divine, both the food (we had the Chateaubriand) and the outdoor patio ambiance. Our server was very gracious, attentive. We had not been back there for awhile, so it was fun to see all the improvements they've made to the place, inside and out. A big collective "wow." (Although we liked it a lot before as well.) We will no doubt return, hopefully soon because I thought the Trout Almondine looked very yummy. Good wine list too."

  • "I wouldn't say I was disappointed, but I wasn't really impressed either. The restaurant itself is attractive and inviting and the food itself was good. We were there on a Sunday night and apparently they always make their Posole soup - which was fantastic and the highlight of my meal. My issue really was on the follow through with the experience. Our waiter was a tremendous character with a lot of personality. but halfway through the dinner it almost appeared like he lost interest and we saw little from him again. As a result, the dinner dragged on too long and the dining experience lost momentum. The biggest disappointment - despite promises of a basket of their "famous sticky buns" on their menu, none ever arrived."

  • "I did respond to a call from the restaurant that for so,e reason the food delivery was very slow - even the manager came by the table to offer apologies. This wa stye fist time I had such an experience."

  • "We decided to go to El Chorro as I had been there a few years back and had a wonderful eggs benedict. The meal this past Sunday was as delicious as it was before. I always go for their specialty and the eggs benedict this time was as good as I remembered. I know everyone will comment on their sticky buns and I enjoyed those as well. Very tasty. They have a lovely setting and tastefully decorated building with dining both inside and out. The menu is very good with great choices for everyone. I suggest you give, brunch, lunch and dinner a try if you are in the Scottsdale area for an extended period of time. Brunch is just served Sunday's. Go and enjoy!"

  • "Except for when we sit at the bar, service is always really slow albeit friendly. Usually in those cases it's how the restaurant assigns tables and not the fault of the server. But the food is always good and the view can't be beat. Sitting out side in Arizona in the spring is what I live for."

  • "The food was pretty average (except for the sticky buns, which are excellent but also which don't really go with a dinner meal) and about the same as what you can find at dozens of other restaurants. The tables were not very conducive to a romantic dinner or private conversation, so if you're looking for that, try elsewhere. The prices, though, were through the roof! I'd expect much better food for these prices. Overall, we were not impressed."

  • "My wife and I have dined here every year since 1992. It has always been a special place with great food, terrific patio, outstanding service, and a view you can't beat. The recent upgrade has only made it better."

  • "I went there expecting upscale south of the border food and was very pleasantly surprised to find a mixture of seafood, steak, vegetarian, and other fine dining fare. The service was first class and very attentive but not overly in your face. The staff worked together which made it more fun. I had a grouper dish which was very well prepared..I will definitely go back."

  • "This has been a tried and true restaurant for many years in the valley After the remodel it went through a difficult patch but it is but it is back and wonderful again. It was truly enjoyed by all. Happy to tell you our feelings but having to write at least 50 words is too much/"

  • "We had out of town guests and we all absolutely loved dinner...great atmosphere, seated near the fireplace. Our friends couldn't get over how nicely it was decorated for being outside. Braised short rib was eexcellent as well as the sea bass special. The sticky buns served with all meals are amazing.a little pricey but definitely worth it. Certainly recommend for anyone entertaining out of town guests. The house salad left a little to be desired, the beet salad was pretty good."

  • "they've obviously poured a lot of money into the remodel of El Chorro, they would be better advised to put some money into recruiting a new chef. this is too nice a place to have such mediocre food."

  • "El Chorro is the quintessential destination for out-of-town visitors. The patio setting was perfect for a beautiful March evening. Our server was attentive and informative re: the restaurant's menu as well as it's history. The food was good as well as the presentation. Our diners enjoyed the pork soup, sausage appetizer and veggie and trout entrees. Wine by the glass was affordable. A great evening!"

  • "We had not been to El Chorro in about 10 years. We had friends visit who had never been to AZ so we felt this was the "quintessential AZ restaurant" for them to see. The food was better than we remembered it from the past. The outside dining area was gaily lit. The service was quite good. Several negatives - our table was by the kitchen so therefore less than intimate, the beet salad appetizer was frozen solid when served - obviously not fresh - and the cherry pie contained a pit that fortunately caused no dental issues(and the waiter removed the charge for the pie from the bill). All in all, a nice experience but certainly not an exceptional one. We'll likely return but not real soon."

  • "Went to El Chorro recently for Brunch. Was seated right at reservation time. Outside seating was great, with plenty of umbrellas to block the direct sunlight. Service was great, and brunch menu was fantastic, including special dishes for St Patrick's Day. I would highly recommend El Chorro."

  • "The waiter really made it unpleasant & the food Was good not anything to brag about. Would not Bother to recommend this place to others. Our drinks We're not good. This was NOT fine dining at its best. Out door seating was horrible. Tables were cheap & Not good for dining & especially holding your drinks in place, I was always afraid my drink would fall over."

  • "Our waiter was excellent as was the food. We had outside dining and everything was much better than we had anticipated. Our tenderloin was so tender you could have cut it with a fork. Took my sister from Denver there as a treat to us all and we walked away gabbing about how wonderful the experience was. Thank you!"

  • "It had been many years since visiting El Chorro for Sunday brunch. The place was packed but we had a reservation and a lovely patio table. Service was slow in receiving our food but our server was attentive and apologetic. We had the eggs Benedict and the El Chorro Cobb. All was excellent. Bloody Mary's are great too."

  • "We have been to this restaurant a few times when we visit. It has the most beautiful views. The food was outstanding. Seems to be getting better every time we go. Service top notch. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "As usual for a Sunday, the place was packed. Unfortunately, that also seemed to translate to lack of attention by the wait staff. I arrived to find one of my friends waiting at the bar - we waited at the bar for about 10 minutes (at which time the hostess came to seat us) without being greeted and asked if we wanted something to drink. The patio is a great place to sit and was well situated to be out of the direct sun. The waiter initially appeared distracted and almost rushed away before one of my guests' drinks order was given, and this lack of attention seemed to continue until we noticed that the number of patrons had substantially reduced. Loved the food, but the service this time was below par."

  • "We've been to El Chorro twice in the past month and both times have been absolutely incredible. The ambiance is superb, the food perfect, and the service above and beyond. Our waiter, after my wife commented on the wine she had and wondered whether we could buy it locally, brought a bottle to the table so she could see what the bottle looked like and would know what to look for. El Chorro is our new favorite in the Valley, and particularly for outdoor dining."

  • "One of the most consistently great restaurants in Phoenix. Takes you back to the days of the Old West. We dream about those sticky buns and peanut butter pie!"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Beef Stroganoff, Pork Tenderloin and Rainbow Trout were delicious, Chateaubriand was a disappointment. Roasted Potatoes were all dried out and carrots were undercooked. Francesca provided excepitonal service."

  • "Celebrated 25th wedding anniv. on a Tues. night. The restaurant was full, patio setting was exquisite. We inform the restaurant ahead of time of our celebration, table was perfect. Started off with the margaritas, excellent, accompanied by the "famous Sticky Buns", now I know why. Starters: we shared the Schreiners's sausage Trio, this was the most disappointing, a few slices of dried up sausages. Entrees: we had the Seasonal Wild Salmon & Pan Roasted Duck Breast, both were excellent. We ended the meal with a complementary cake desert. The service was excellent in the beginning, but turn into a slow service as the restaurant was clearing out. Would I dine there again? Yes, but I would try the Brunch or Happy hour in the beautiful patio."

  • "Returned 1 year later only to find the food is not the same standard I remember. Service was great. The kitchen needs to step it up in quality and consistency. For the price they are charging I expected more. The eggs Benedict was cooked on a bed of salty salmon instead of lox. Not very upscale . Could have cooked the same fish at home. The best eggs Benedict is at St. Francis on camelback."
