Diner Reviews
  • "I am so glad that Edwin's has chosen Shaker Square as their home. This is a lovely spot for this restaurant. We sat inside this time in the lovely dining room; tables set with white linen table cloths, sparkling silver and glassware. The service was very good, our waitress lacked a little knowledge about the menu and wine selections but was very attentive, professional and friendly. The food was lovely. I had the vichyssoise and the rabbit in mustard sauce, my companion had the rabbit tarte and the foie gras; All were prepared to perfection. The only criticism I have is that the plats principaux should have a vegetable pairing. I am looking forward to returning sometime soon."

  • "This was an all around great experience. The cocktails were spot on. The salads and soup were pleasant and not bland. The entrees were fantastic. I highly recommend the rabbit. Lastly, the dessert souffles were absolutely, amazing. You have to order them with your dinner, but they are well worth it. We will definitely be back."

  • "We checked out Edwin's recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were thrilled with the experience! The service is absolutely impeccable, there is quite a lot of wait staff around so you won't find your drink empty or dirty plates sitting for long. All the staff we came in contact with was so friendly greeted us with smiles from the moment we walked in. The Champagne recommendation was perfect and when we said we'd like to try Port Wine, but weren't very knowledgeable, we were offered a flight to try a variety, which was wonderful! Food was classic and delicious. One of our faves was the frog legs! We saw the charcuterie cart being taken to another table, and will definitely try that next time after seeing the beautiful selection!"

  • "We had a great dinner with our favorite other couple. It was just wonderful. All of the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was the absolute best we have ever experienced. Just to let you know, one of us had spinach lunguini, one had portabella mushrooms, one had salmon and one had duck preceded by lobster bisque. Nothing was found wanting. If you love fine food and exceptional service, this is the place to dine."

  • "I have eaten at Edwins a number of times and always found it delightful. I was happy that the vegan entrees were changed so I did not have to repeat what I had last time. Would like to see a vegan special now and then. I would have given 5 stars except my friends noted that the tart had a very thick and dense crust that was hard to cut."

  • "The food was memorable. My husband and I shared a yummy, garlicky order of escargot for an appetizer. I had the goat cheese topped salad, and the horseradish encrusted salmon. The salmon was perfectly delicious. My husband enjoyed the braised rabbit. We shared a chocolate soufflé, which was worth the wait. My only complaint was some old lettuce in the salads. The service was sincere but a little awkward."

  • "A real culinary treasure at Shaker Square - the food, ambience, décor, service - all superb! The menu selections are outstanding! And the concept? Genius! A 'must try' for everyone. Cannot wait to go back again and again."

  • "Stopped in late on Saturday Evening. Ate at bar - Staff was extremly accomidating, Pleasant and Professional. Wife had Ditalini which was amazing. We then split a few more apps and an entree. Pate was wonderful, Foie gras was good, nicely cooked, but Jam really overpowered the dish. Was just too much sweetness. Needed something to offset besides the richness of the Foie. Split the scallops with pink grapefruit and it was very good. Scallops wonderfully seasoned and seared. (slightly overcooked) for my taste) The Bar manager was extremly professional, offered wonderful wine sugggestions and split them for us so we could share. A lovely place to dine and an exciting concept. We are lucky to have them in the Cleveland area. Kudos!"

  • "Edwin's has an incredible menu with just enough options. The service is fantastic, great wine list, and their business model is admirable. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant."

  • "Edwins is one of Cleveland's best dining experiences - a superlative French menu (on the classic side) in a stylish, inviting room with a pleasant outdoor patio in front, overlooking Cleveland's beautiful Shaker Square. Outstanding wine list ad excellent selection of spirits. Staff, which is largely comprised of ex-convicts, couldn't be friendlier and more eager to please. Brandon Chrostowski, the impresario behind this unusual place, has been associated with three and four-star restaurants in Paris and New York (notably, Chanterelle), and everything is done on a very high level of professionalism. But it's also an extremely welcoming neighborhood restaurant at which everyone feels at home. Highly recommended."

  • "Had the most wonderful dining experience. Waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The food was very good and the portions were just right. Brought a couple from Washington, D.C. who are used to eating in very upscale restaurants and they raved about Edwin's."

  • "Terrific menu, varied and interesting without being pretentious, from steak to fish, from vegetarian to Vegan. very good wine menu. We thought the selections were a good value for the quality of the food. We enjoyed scallops, salmon & duck and then had dessert. There is a gorgeous cheese selection."

  • "Fun new spot on Shaker Square. Worth the drive from the West Side. Very creative menu that has something for everyone's taste. You can even take the tip as a tax deduction. Anytime you can mess with IRS is a plus for me."

  • "Service at this restaurant was great- our glasses were never empty. The food was a little on the cold side, but flavorful overall. Entrees were quite expensive."

  • "While genuinely nice there are just too many servers employed at Edwin's. After practically every sip of water someone was present to fill the glass to the brim. For every bite of bread (tasty) there was someone who plunked down another slice. The wait staff needs to learn to be less present; perhaps that will come with time. Also, while the goat cheese on the salad was prepared to a light crispiness there was way too much dressing on the salad. The grouper I had was quite good so the meal ended pleasantly."

  • "I have been looking for a really good French restaurant in Cleveland for a long time. We have many excellent places to eat but none are truly French. This one is. The food was excellent, the selection outstanding and the portions were, for the most part, generous. What the wait staff lacks in experience they make up for in enthusiasm. This will be on the top of my list for where I take my out-of-town guests in the future."

  • "A wonderful restaurant with excellent food and extremely accommodating service. Knowledgeable and friendly staff addressed all our concerns. The steak, linguine and rabbit were impeccable."

  • " As usual the food was exceptional. There was one issue that we had (2 couples) who ordered the special which was Dover sole. When the check came it was $200 for 2 people largely because the "special" was $58 per person and we had not been told the amount in advance. We felt this was more than over the top for a "special" especially because we were unaware of the price. This is not the way to keep customers coming back even tho the food is "to die for.""

  • "Had a perfectly lovely meal on the patio -- steak au poivre, seared fois gras and the salad du jour. Don't know what was in the honey viniagrette dressing but I want to buy it and put it on everything. Topped it off with pastry chef Tony's perfect raspberry souffle and creme brulee. Even though there was a lively scene both inside and out, we felt unhurried. Loved the diversity of the crowd -- and loved that everyone seemed to be as happy to be at EDWINS as we were"

  • "This was our 2nd time here. The service was attentive. We dined on the patio...very lovely, though the metal chairs were a bit uncomfortable. The food was innovated and well-presented. However, the kitchen was very slow. "

  • "We tried Edwin's for the first time Saturday night. It was terrific all around. The food was great. I had the market fish wrapped in potatoes. It is a bit of an odd looking dish but was very nicely done and delicious. My husband had the salmon with creme fraiche and loved it. We sat outside and enjoyed Shaker Square. They have done a lovely job with the setting. The restaurant had a big crowd which is great to see. The service was very good. Our server was new and a little nervous but there was lots of help for her -everybody was attentive. We will definitely be back. I love the concept of supporting our community and eating well - which we did!"

  • "We went to Edwin's this past weekend and really enjoyed the entire experience. We met Brandon Edwin the owner who was very approachable and explained to us his entire mission and how he got started with the idea of giving those in need hope for a brighter future. The food was very good and the staff was very attentive. It's worth a trip to see how his operation works. "

  • "Overall a great time. Restaurant still learning it's way. Service is uneven at times. Appetizers were great, drinks were varied and tasty. Wife had the rabbit which she enjoyed, I had the fish of the day, which was good not great. Soufflé for dessert was a little too sweet for my taste. Been here a few times and service improving. Will be back - always a great time. And of course Brandon is exceptional and we believe in the mission of the restaurant. "

  • "The staff was awesome, attentive and courteous. From the hosts at the door to the waiters, the expediters, everyone was just awesome. Much more than I could have ever expected. And the food was absolutely divine. You must try the Lobster Bisque. The best I have had in a long time. And the wine list...very extensive. We will definitely be returning."

We especially appreciated the vegetarian options marked with a "V" on the menu, as well as the vegan options. Also loved the fun dessert choices. Really appreciated the whole experience - really positive, definitely recommend it! "

  • "We arrived early for our Reservation, but were received graciously, despite a full restaurant (Saturday night) crowd. Even the bar area was packed. We were offered a comfy couch in the lounge to wait for our table. Service was apologetic, but we were delighted to have the respite, with wine, while we waited. Our servers did not miss a beat! This is truly a restaurant that knows its customers want to be served. This was our 4th visit to the restaurant, but the first time on such a busy night. Rabbit and salmon entrees were our choices that evening, which we found exceptionally prepared. Ahh, and the soufflés are the bomb! This is a neighborhood gem that we hope will stay for a very long time!"
