EDWINS Restaurant is steeped in tradition and care for the community. Restaurateur Brandon Chrostowski offers a unique experience with Chef Gilbert Brenot's seasonal, classic French cuisine in the midst of Cleveland's Shaker Square. The restaurant has a unique mission; to do good and eat well, offering formerly incarcerated men and women with a second chance through hospitality and culinary arts.

The charming bar and lounge are a welcoming spot for before and after dinner drinks.

  • "Everything was perfect on this evening. Great service: friendly, but not cloying. Server knew the menu and the wines and made good recommendations. Gave prices for the specials instead of our asking. Plates were cleared together instead of separately. Definitely this staff has been well trained in service and should be commended. Food was excellent all around. I have now had all the vegan options and hope that these will change seasonally. But, they are so good, I can continue ordering these. My friends split their meals of fettuccini and fish special and the kitchen split the plates (very nicely done). They loved their dinners, too."

  • "This was our first visit to Edwins but it won't be our last. The young people being trained in the food industry did a very nice job during our visit. We tried the fish special which was an excellent grouper, the rabbit and a vegetarian entree, and all were delicious. The waiters were very attentive with the bread and filling water glasses. The ambience is lovely. It was a very enjoyable evening."

  • "The occasion was my wife's birthday, and we brought our kids, 18 and 21. We went because we "bought into the mission" of Edwins. And we knew some of the folks who were instrumental in helping the concept find a place, start the training, and open the doors. The food was superb. We asked for extra bread so that no juice or sauce went unappreciated. The wait staff was attentive and ready to engage. Brandon, the owner who met us at the door and stopped by our table more than once, has succeeded in making Edwins a working model for the community at large. Pay attention, folks. We're going back to Edwins."

  • "My boyfriend and I went. He got the New York strip and I got the spinach linguini. The steak was amazing and my linguini was the best pasta I've ever had in my life. Their service was amazing. Everyone was so kind. The creme brûlée we had for dessert was the best creme brûlée I've tried. I would recommend everyone to go try Edwin's."

  • "This was an all around great experience. The cocktails were spot on. The salads and soup were pleasant and not bland. The entrees were fantastic. I highly recommend the rabbit. Lastly, the dessert souffles were absolutely, amazing. You have to order them with your dinner, but they are well worth it. We will definitely be back."

  • "I am so glad that Edwin's has chosen Shaker Square as their home. This is a lovely spot for this restaurant. We sat inside this time in the lovely dining room; tables set with white linen table cloths, sparkling silver and glassware. The service was very good, our waitress lacked a little knowledge about the menu and wine selections but was very attentive, professional and friendly. The food was lovely. I had the vichyssoise and the rabbit in mustard sauce, my companion had the rabbit tarte and the foie gras; All were prepared to perfection. The only criticism I have is that the plats principaux should have a vegetable pairing. I am looking forward to returning sometime soon."

  • "We had a great dinner with our favorite other couple. It was just wonderful. All of the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was the absolute best we have ever experienced. Just to let you know, one of us had spinach lunguini, one had portabella mushrooms, one had salmon and one had duck preceded by lobster bisque. Nothing was found wanting. If you love fine food and exceptional service, this is the place to dine."

  • "The food was memorable. My husband and I shared a yummy, garlicky order of escargot for an appetizer. I had the goat cheese topped salad, and the horseradish encrusted salmon. The salmon was perfectly delicious. My husband enjoyed the braised rabbit. We shared a chocolate soufflé, which was worth the wait. My only complaint was some old lettuce in the salads. The service was sincere but a little awkward."

  • "We checked out Edwin's recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were thrilled with the experience! The service is absolutely impeccable, there is quite a lot of wait staff around so you won't find your drink empty or dirty plates sitting for long. All the staff we came in contact with was so friendly greeted us with smiles from the moment we walked in. The Champagne recommendation was perfect and when we said we'd like to try Port Wine, but weren't very knowledgeable, we were offered a flight to try a variety, which was wonderful! Food was classic and delicious. One of our faves was the frog legs! We saw the charcuterie cart being taken to another table, and will definitely try that next time after seeing the beautiful selection!"

Would like to see a vegan special now and then. I would have given 5 stars except my friends noted that the tart had a very thick and dense crust that was hard to cut."

  • "Stopped in late on Saturday Evening. Ate at bar - Staff was extremly accomidating, Pleasant and Professional. Wife had Ditalini which was amazing. We then split a few more apps and an entree. Pate was wonderful, Foie gras was good, nicely cooked, but Jam really overpowered the dish. Was just too much sweetness. Needed something to offset besides the richness of the Foie. Split the scallops with pink grapefruit and it was very good. Scallops wonderfully seasoned and seared. (slightly overcooked) for my taste) The Bar manager was extremly professional, offered wonderful wine sugggestions and split them for us so we could share. A lovely place to dine and an exciting concept. We are lucky to have them in the Cleveland area. Kudos!"

  • "While genuinely nice there are just too many servers employed at Edwin's. After practically every sip of water someone was present to fill the glass to the brim. For every bite of bread (tasty) there was someone who plunked down another slice. The wait staff needs to learn to be less present; perhaps that will come with time. Also, while the goat cheese on the salad was prepared to a light crispiness there was way too much dressing on the salad. The grouper I had was quite good so the meal ended pleasantly."

  • "Had a perfectly lovely meal on the patio -- steak au poivre, seared fois gras and the salad du jour. Don't know what was in the honey viniagrette dressing but I want to buy it and put it on everything. Topped it off with pastry chef Tony's perfect raspberry souffle and creme brulee. Even though there was a lively scene both inside and out, we felt unhurried. Loved the diversity of the crowd -- and loved that everyone seemed to be as happy to be at EDWINS as we were"

  • " As usual the food was exceptional. There was one issue that we had (2 couples) who ordered the special which was Dover sole. When the check came it was $200 for 2 people largely because the "special" was $58 per person and we had not been told the amount in advance. We felt this was more than over the top for a "special" especially because we were unaware of the price. This is not the way to keep customers coming back even tho the food is "to die for.""
