Diner Reviews
  • "The tuna tartare was good but somewhat flat tasting. The Chilean sea bass was also good but I was disappointed that it was presented on a bed of plain white rice. Too pricey for the quality of food. I expected it to be over the top with more creativity in the presentation and taste. My palate was not wowed in the least."

  • "I recently moved to Jersey City, so I cannot comment on how this restaurant compares to what it used to be like (which I see a lot of reviewers commenting on). Overall, my experience was very good. The bartender in the front bar area and our server in the dining room were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The steaks were cooked to perfection. For the size of the portions given, the prices were reasonable. Tasty sides. Reasonably priced, good variety in the wine list. I live down the block from here, so I have a really good feeling that I'm going to be back!"

  • "Edward's Steakhouse is a place we like to call our local... where you always have a delicious meals, a great wine selection and a welcoming/fun ambiance! Dan, Annie, Tom, Nick and the whole Edward's Family are so fantastic!! Thank you again for a wonderful evening!"

  • "Overall food was good. The service was mediocre at best. Very inattentive. Another server filled our water twice in his absence. He basically was an order taker. No connection, no appearance that he cared or was interested in our needs as dinners"

  • "This is truly a steakhouse experience. While the menu might be pricey, you do get what you pay for in both quality and quantity. The crabcake appetizer was all crab and no filler - just perfect! My sister and I shared the porterhouse for two and it was "like buttah!". Wine markups are very reasonable, the room has a clubby feel with dark leather and 1800's era touches and the service was excellent. Great hidden gem and I can't wait to return!"

  • "Great food never disappointed our favorite restaurant."

  • "Great food but a lil on the price heavy side. You need to know your meat and how you like it to be cooked. Your gonna pay about 250-300 maybe more if you like a good 3 course meal and a bottel of two of wine...but dont go to a place like this unless you expect to pay that price. People are great and the room is the best little spot for a romantic din for two."

  • "I booked this reservation for Valentine's Day and it was a really nice, relaxing meal. It is probably one of the more expensive restaurants in the area, but that is to be expected of a steak restaurant at this caliber. It is not quite at the level of the high end restaurants in NYC, but it is also less expensive and far more relaxed. The staff was very nice and attentive and I was pleased that for Valentine's Day they had their full menu and specials and we weren't forced into a prix fixe option. Great experience overall."

  • "Edward's never disappoints - wonderful food, beautifully prepared, friendly service (not intrusive but there when you need them). We love this place."

  • "I dined here with a group of four during restaurant week and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. The most popular starter was the smoked salmon carpaccio. The girls ordered the roasted chicken entree, which was moist and slid right off the bone. The boys ordered the steak, which was cooked to perfection. Our choice cabernet was sold out and so they brought a similar one to the table--not a big deal, we still drank two bottles. Usually we don't dine so early, but this time it was 4:30 and so we were the only ones in the restaurant. Service was impeccable and professional. Will definitely come back during the next restaurant week!"

  • "Edward's is a great neighborhood spot. Their meat is very good and steaks are great. Their seafood is also very good, which is notable for a steakhouse. While we eat here regularly, our only negative comment is that recipes are missing that one special touch that would take them from good to great. I'm waiting for my foodgasm!"

  • "What a unique place in a great neighborhood. Edwards steakhouse was a hit all the way around. Great food, beautiful decor/ambiance, lovely service and very cool vibe. Wine list had great choices without being overwhelming, and the food menu was the perfect variety of different steak cuts, and seafood. Completely enjoyed ourselves, we will be back soon."

  • "My steak was cooked perfectly, as it should be done at a place that specializes in steaks but everything else was bland and boring. Looks like chef just gave up and threw stuff on plate. Dry & heavily breaded lamb chops, runny creamed spinach, flavorless filet mignon spring roll that were over cooked. Good drinks though."

  • "Some friends and I went to Edwards recently for Restaurant Week. it was a quiet Wednesday night, and we were one of the few patrons there that night. We decided to have some drinks at the bar afterwards. Apparently they close early at 10pm on Wednesdays, but they made no mention of this. Instead they rudely turned off all the lights around us, constantly stared at us, and made us feel incredibly unwelcome and rushed. I got up at one point to use the restroom and they had to turn the lights back on for me! This is an incredibly rude way to treat your only remaining patrons that night. Instead, they had the audacity to blame the slow night on the cold weather. Actually, I think it's your incredibly rude staff and owners!!"

  • "Tried out Hudson restaurant week menu. Deep fried spring roll was a challenge for the restaurant and both spicy and miso sauces were blunt. Caesars salad was very soggy, but the lettuce itself was fresh. Delmonico steak was tasty. If the restaurant kindly cut out gristle, it would have been much nicer. Cream brûlée was obviously scrimpted cream. Service was good."

  • "My wife and I have been coming to Edwards for a few years now. They were great before Sandy and now they are even better than before! The cocktails are well made. Service is attentive and friendly. And the food is to die for! Get here now!"

  • "Delmonico steak was tough with grizzle. Lobster bisque was tasteless with no discernable lobster? Fish dish was greasy. Basement dining room has a dank smell, maybe Post-Sandy. As with many restaurants, music is far too loud for dining room. Not a NYC steakhouse but priced like one."

  • "We absolutely enjoy going to Edward's Steakhouse! From the moment you make a reservation to walking out the door you are treated with charm and amazing service! The salmon Carpaccio, Tuna, Lamb Chops and Filets.. DELICIOUS!!! The wine list is superb and is not outrageously marked up!! The only part of our experience that was a bit disappointing was the dessert.... but can be overlooked by the other outstanding courses!!!! Always a treat and a pleasure!!! Thank you Dan and Anne!"

  • "My wife and I went here for our wedding anniversary, plus we had a craving for steak. Edwards did not disappoint. I had the Filet and my wife actually ended up with the salmon special. Both spectacular. I love it when I don't have to add anything to the meat - just straight. The wine was excellent and the selection is pretty good. We also got a complimentary glass of champagne and a very warm "congrats" greeting at the door. We were promptly seated, despite being a few minutes late. I highly recommend Edwards - great food and staff!!"

  • "This was our groups' s second outing at edward's and they did not disappoint. We have always been taken care of particularly well - there was no problem when we had to wait for one of our party and our waiter was friendly and attentive. The filet was delicious as was the bacon appetizer. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal thoroughly and we are looking forward to returned to edward's soon. Welcome back from Sandy, Edward's!"

  • "Was self-presented as "THE" steakhouse in the exchange place neighborhood, with different food than usual... well it was not different at all, it was the same menu you can find in any usual steakhouse... and it was even a little disapointing because the food was just okaaaaayyyy. Lack of flavors in most of the dishes But service and personnel were good, and prices not too high"

  • "While the food was not awful, it was not what you would expect from a restaurant with Edward's prices. Steak was ordered medium but arrived rare to medium rare. Because it was the porterhouse for two and was sliced by the kitchen they should have known. Unfortunately not much can be done with a $90 steak that has been sliced to fix it. The sautéed spinach was so dry and tasteless it was like dehydrated green flakes. That is a mystery to me because it's a basic dish. I suspect they used frozen spinach. We paid about $90 per person splitting one appetizer and one dessert with one cocktail each. Cost to quality was way out of sync."

  • "I had never be in Jersey City. Found Edwards on Google. The dining room is cozy , lighting is dim but not oppressive. The service is prompt and courteous and most importantly the meats are outstanding both in quality and preparation. We ended up dining there twice during the same stay."

  • "My big brother Nick loves a good steak, and I wanted to find a really good place to take him to thank him for all of the help he gives to me - his little sister. I made a reservation at this place in Jersey City and I am sure glad that I did. We got a parking space right in front of the restaurant and the food was fantastic. Will definitely come back again."

  • "This is a good local steakhouse. The Filet was cooked perfectly and the service was good. The ambiance left a little to be desired with 70s rock blasting on the speakers, but the waiter quickly went back and lowered the volume and changed the music to a much more appropriate Sinatra station. It's a cozy place, although sitting in the back room seems a bit contrived in that the wood grain trim of the front of the bar/restaurant does not flow through to the back room and all of a sudden you're in this stark contrasting white walled room which is not as cozy. All over though, a good experience and worth the price tag."
