We had the five course menu and each course was completely unexpected and utterly delicious. The restaurant itself is charming and the servers attentive, friendly and helpful. There is a very good wine list and overall the meal is outstanding value for the very moderate price. I highly recommend Edulis."

  • "Chose the 7 course tasting menu, but found that for four of us this was a 3 hour experience...the 5 course would have been sufficient food, although we absolutely loved every dish, be prepared to commit the time (more significant for more people)! Can not rave enough about the presentation, creativity, attention to detail, service, and fun surprise factor. Worth the wait for a reservation."

  • "You will not know what you are going to eat until it is actually presented to you. The only choice you have is whether to take the 5-course or 7-course offering. So, picky eaters and those with food issues may have some issues. Also, the restaurant is quite noisy. It is small but packed with tables. We had a hard time hearing each other across a small table. But, the food is excellent and the service was very good. Good value as well."

Then with our dessert came a piece of wonderful cake bearing a lit candle 'cause it was my birthday. Cannot wait to return over and over again."

  • "The food & experience was wonderful. But, skip the truffle addition option as it was highly overrated (we were barely able to taste them). French style locavore fine dining is definitely hard to find, but this was a good one. If I had to do this over, and it wouldn't bother me if we did, I'd just choose the small 5 course option instead of springing for the extra 2 courses with truffles. Funny, the large option with the truffles made for double the tab! If I had to choose for fine locavore dining in Toronto: my choice is still Woods."

  • "The server upsold the 7 course meal from the 5 as 'more variety'. While the food was very well prepared, we found that very similar ingredients were used in several of the dishes (an overdependence on walnuts). Five courses would have been a good varietal; 7 was just more of the same. The focus is on fish/seafood (5 of the 7 courses). The room is small and has no sound baffling so it is incredibly noisy; it was difficult to hear the server describe the course being served. Service was knowledgeable but not very friendly."

  • "We'd been to Edulis before for a special occasion and loved it. So when our friend turned 50, we made a reservation. Our table of 4 ordered cocktails, wine & the 7 course tasting. Food? Spectacular. Service? Awesome. But it's not just about the food. It's about food, service & atmosphere. Our table was at the washroom. Ok. But the table was also under an air vent that blew cold windy air onto the table and me specifically, hard, all night. When asked, they did turn it down. When the other side of the restaurant complained it was too warm, they turned it back on. When we tired of the blowing cold air right overhead, we turned it down ourselves and got scolded. One expects better for a $600 meal – especially on a special occasion. "

I did not order any wine so can't comment on that. Just keep in mind it's a small space so it may be a tad loud. Otherwise, one of the best restaurants I've ever been to; including some Michelin-starred restaurants."

  • "Visited this restaurant for the first time with my family for a birthday celebration and I was truly impressed. I've eaten at a lot of fine dining restaurants and this one truly stood out. Amazing flavours and outstanding service. We got the 5 course meal with cheese plate and we were stuffed! I was hesitant to write a review since it is already hard enough to get a table here! I have already booked our next visit! Make sure to book early (reservations open up 2 months in advance) and there is only one 6+ person table. Truly memorable and incredible value for such delicious food."

  • "Not for people who want to know exactly what they want to eat. We loved that every course was a total surprise as the menu is chosen by the chef and you don't see it ahead of time. Every course was delicious and just enough to be satisfying without feeling stuffed. The dessert was light and sublime and we received a bonus dessert of Baba cake soaked in syrup and rum which was so light and airy we couldn't stop eating it. Highly recommend this lovely, intimate, candle-lit gem of a bistro."

Warm service, and best of all, no feeling pushed to make room for the next set of diners. Edulis at sunday lunch understands what most trendy Toronto restaurants do not: that TIME is a key factor in dining. The ability to cozily spread out a meal over a few hours is actually as important as the spread itself."
