I dined with a group of four on a Saturday evening. Apart from having to wait 20 minutes to be seated (despite having a reservation), everything was fantastic. We got the snapper salad, the kale salad, the bone marrow appetizer, and the fried green tomatoes to start. For dinner, we had the chicken, the pork chop, and the salmon. For dessert we did the butter cake, the peanut butter bar, and the tart (listed in order of liking). It was a wonderful experience. We ate family style, sampling a little bit of everything, and at the end of the meal everyone was beyond satisfied. The food was truly the focal part of our evening- we could barely talk about anything else. Every dish was inventive and reflected the painstaking dedication (and culinary genius) of the chef. We will absolutely be back, although perhaps for a special occasion (dinner cost about $230 between my husband and I, including cocktails at the bar and a bottle of wine). Our server was very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The only negative part of the evening was the valet (hence why I knocked off a star for service) . Not only was he rude, but he must have parked our car underneath a tree, because we realized later that it was covered in bird business. It was too dark for us to see at the time, but was a pretty big bummer the next morning.

Went on a Monday for dinner when my friend came in from out of town. Lots of empty tables but they put us between two other tables that were so close and so loud just because they were so close. The ac vent on ceiling was dripping on me and the table. We moved to the other two seats at our table. Why did they seat us there? But we didn't feel like moving to another table. Service was prompt but interrupted our conversations too many times. Food was fantastic!!! So just for that it was worthwhile.

We enjoyed the appetizers, but getting a drink ordered was difficult. They were out of several things we tried to order, then when we did find something, we ordered a 2nd round and the server informed us they were now out of that as well. We had to get a different drink. After our appetizers were through, the sever asked if we wanted dessert or the check. We were never asked to order our dinner. We felt this was a poor way to treat a customer. We ended up leaving and going to Anise where were had another drink and food. It was a much better experience.

This was my second visit to Edison, and the first visit for my dining companions. Everything on everyone's plates was outstanding. Everything. The menu is constantly changing, so the imaginative fare I saw on the menu last time was nowhere to be found, replaced instead by a whole new batch of equally enticing choices. On the negative side, the room is noisy enough to make conversation a little difficult, and prices are a little high. Go here when you are ready to set everything else aside (e.g., conversation, budget) and just revel in truly amazing food.

I dined here on 11/14 with my father and sister. We wanted to choose a place nearby to Amalie Arena as we had tickets for the 8pm James Taylor concert and so my sommelier sister recommended edison: food+drink lab. We wanted an earlier reservation due to the show and Tampa traffic so the 5pm slot I was offered on Open Table suited us perfectly. We were actually the first diners in the place that evening! Everything was pleasant the moment we arrived; the host was friendly and seated us right away, handing us clipboards with the evening's menu attached, in addition to a cocktail menu and wine list. The decor is rustic chic; lots of dark wood and low lights, but with sharp angles and clean lines, too. I was a bit distracted by the TVs in the bar area and the not great music selection piped into the dining room, but I do admit I forgot about those flaws as we settled into the evening. We were seated in a booth by a window, facing Kennedy Blvd. My sister and I were comfortable, but my father did mention he wished there were a cushion of some sort available. Cocktails were ordered, of which mine was a yummy mix of gin, basil and grapefruit. My family's drinks were equally tasty so zero complaints there. We decided to order a selection of small plates (hot and cold "starts" per the menu) and our wonderful server Roy began bringing out our choices in a ordinate matter of time. I can't remember the exact ingredients of everything we ate, but the memorables were a creamy burrata with heirloom and green tomatoes, nutty pesto & a chipotle sorbet; also crab rangoon stuffed squash blossoms which I found to be a tad greasy, but still delicious; my favorite starter, however, was the foie gras, served with bits of lamb bacon and earthy Hen of the Woods mushrooms. I wish there had been more lamb bacon! My sister and dad also raved about the escargot with cippolini onions on crostini. Entrees consisted of Waygu beef and the duck confit which were both tremendous!

As a frequent diner here, the food is excellent and the wine and cocktail selection is extensive. It is always packed on weekends so reservations are suggested. Many small plates available. Staff is very nice and everyone goes out of their way to make you experience wonderful. Noise level on weekends is high and because large crowds, it takes a little longer to get you drinks and food. You cannot be in a rush.

Food and drinks never dissapoint! (Funny how that works with a name like food+drink lab!) Weekends, of course, are busy--and a tad noisy--but, interestingly, service is... better! The last time we went on a Friday, the service choreography was exceptional! Irrespective of who took the order (from water to drinks to food), whover brought it to the table--no fewer than six different people--they always knew who ordered what without asking. Impressive. Conversely, I had dinner on this past Wednesday eve with colleagues, and service was slow-ish, we were repeatedly asked who had what, table-clearing between courses was... bad (we sat with empty appy plates and approaching-empty drinks for over 15 minutes. Must've been the "B Team."

They will go out of their way to be sure everything is ok. We go often on weekends when reservations are a must. I would definitely recommend this for a couples night out, for those with a broad pallet who want to break the everyday mundane chain restaurant . The service was great, and the chef catered to our friend with ciliacs disease and removed ingredients that she wouldn't be able to eat while still making a delicious dinner. The ambiance and layout and décor of the restaurant give it a hip vibe and you feel like this is where the "cool kids" go to eat. The only downfall and this could be a side effect to such great food is the dinner plates are in the $30 a dish range. So be prepared to drop some cash if you plan on an appetizer and drinks. Overall great place but I would only go once in a while due to the prices.

I had read reviews that had bashed the service - I have to say that was the least of my problems with Edison. The service was right on - our server, Carissa, was great - great timing with our dishes we chose to have a number of starters in lieu of an entree. The food was OK, I wanted it to be better than it was, the spice level was pretty high. The Edison chowder that we thought had a hint of serrano may have had an entire serrano pepper in the cup of broth that was served. We ordered six dishes, all were good - the dessert was the best (Butterscotch pudding); I enjoyed the fried green tomato salad but again, whatever the tomato was crusted in had some spice to it. The drinks saved the night try the Smashed Rickey, you won't be sorry

It was so hard to choose what to order because it all looked so good. To die for were the prosciutto wrapped zeppoles. The bartenders are amazing at their craft, combining the best ingredients for a drink you can really enjoy. The flavor combinations by the chef are amazing. The place is small so definitely make a reservation. It was a bit loud so if a romantic first date is what you are looking for I would come back when you are looking for an upbeat and fun experience.

I visited Edison for the second time in two weeks. The service was great this time (big improvement over last visit) and the food proved to be consistently delicious. We tried the escargot to start: the bread was toasted perfectly and included just the right amount of sauce to blend nicely with the escargot. For dinner I had the tuna tartare tabbouleh: a really interesting idea and it turned out great! Partially deconstructed, with two slices of heirloom tomato and a new addition of good quality olives, all of the flavors blended well together. My dining companion had the vegetarian plate. She said it was delicious. It certainly looked that way! We had the butter cake for dessert. It was definitely worth the splurge!

Menu varies seasonally. Any desserts that have the Valrona chocolate mousse are going to be great. The steak was good but uses truffle oil versus fresh truffles on the gnocchi, chicken and waffles were really good, shrimp and grits are outstanding, fish tacos are excellent and the sauces are dynamite! The buratta was really good (just ok if you have had the real thing in Italy) and the same deal for the prosciutto which needs to be sliced thinner.

First time dining at Edison and wasn't impressed. Ambiance was nice but the food was just ok and overpriced. A $19 soft shell crab app should be perfection, not under seasoned and greasy. My jerk chicken and waffles was ok. It was moist but the breading was falling off and not worth the price tag. The collards were by far the best part. I did not care for the shrimp and grits; the cumin was overpowering. There seemed to be 2 servers handling all the tables which left something to be desired for service also. I don't plan to return.

We love this restaurant, and have had quite a few fabulous meals here. The menu of the day this time wasn't as appealing as it has been on all of our other visits, nor was the food quite as good. One of the "sparks" we had, a savory doughnut, even arrived uncooked in the middle. This was taken care of gracefully, but it had been the one exciting appetizer we'd ordered, so was disappointing.

Good service, but forgot our appetizer and dessert. The waitress charged us for a $20 cheese board we never got (I didn't realize until I got home) and when I asked for an extra scoop of ice cream, the waitress charged me for a nearly $10 dessert of 3 scoops of ice cream (after we already spent over $100 on drinks, apps, entrees, desserts). My duck entree was overcooked as well. Wouldn't go again.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire world. The vibe, the service and the food are all beyond fantastic! If it weren't so loud in there it would be my absolute favorite place, instead of a little further down on the list. The Buffalo cauliflower was different and delicious, as were both the crab and oh my god, the fried green tomato salad was unbelievably good. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we had the butterscotch pudding for dessert. For the love of god, please order this amazing delight. Chef Jeannie, you are an eater's dream and delight.
