Diner Reviews
  • "The food was excellent - no issues asking for a small substitution. Great recommendations by our server. Got a little loud at times, but not unbearable."

  • "Spent my 1 year anniversary here with my bf and I had no idea what this place was all about. Service was a little slow for a slow night but the food was divine and I was blow way by the presentation. The truffle tots were great and the main entrees where incredible. it feel like I was in a NYC setting but I was in Rochester. A must do for all locals and visitors to the Greater Rochester Area."

  • "Edibles is a small restaurant in an old brick building. The building has been turned into a fabulous urban dining experience. From the service to the food, Edibles was 5 star all around. Reservations are definitely recommended. It was kind of loud when we went, but that was during a Saturday dinner rush with a couple large groups."

  • "Food was very good. Our favorite offerings were two of the appetizers: the crispy duck legs and the jumbo shrimp. The ambience was lovely with a fun dining room. It was packed and therefore quite noisy, but we enjoyed it very much!"

  • "Four work friends went on a Wed. night. It was about 2/3 full and we could have a nice conversation without straining to hear. The service was great and the food wonderful. I had not been to Edibles in a number of years but I will certainly return soon."

  • "I would recommend this place to anyone. I've been to Edibles a couple of times, and it's always great. Great service, great food (even the vegetarian options - yum!), cool look. Good for a date night. Some of the reviews for this place comment about the pricing or portions, but I think they're fair. It's nice to go out for a dinner and not have to leave with a doggie bag (I always feel bad for the food I leave behind... it's not that I don't love you!...) - it's just enough for me! Prices seem just fine, in my opinion. Especially for what you get. Delish! One time my boyfriend had the crab cake salad. He still talks about those crab cakes."

  • "Just, "yum": Wedge salad (great pungent bleu cheese dressing); crab cakes (the only thing we weren't totally enamored with - not all lump); lobster ravioli (fresh hunks of lobster), flat iron steak (one of the best I've had), succulent chicken with really yummy couscous (a substitution for potatoes, which I don't like); Kobe beef meatloaf with an egg in the center (meatloaf's still meatloaf, no matter how grand); the phyllo-wrapped pear dessert (so much better than it sounded), and the mixed nut caramel tart dessert (be still my heart.) - both desserts came with some of the best vanilla ice cream I've had-I wish I had asked what brand it was. Portions were generous, and the homemade sourdough bread with whipped butter was delish."

  • "Had my colleague in from Pittsburgh. He was duly impressed. Nice job~"

  • "Everything was excellent. 4 of us had the Maple Glazed salmon and loved it!"

  • "Edibles is a small, quiet restaurant with a changing menu and a fair wine list. There are options for light eaters, vegetarian and gluten free eaters. The service is always impeccable and the price is reasonable."

  • "My daughter was visiting from Manhattan, so I wanted to bring her someplace that I find to atypical in Rochester. Edibles offers a great ambiance with the background music that reminds me of being in France. The food is fresh and unique - not your typical all you can eat buffet that Rochester seems to love so much. The wine list has a good variety but the reason to go back is the attentive and friendly servers. I think Edibles made an impression on my NYC high end daughter. Can't wait to come back when she is in town again."

  • "After trying this restaurant for the first time, we would definitely return. The beet and goat cheese salad with home-made candied nuts was amazing. The five-nut tart for dessert is a must. Our only regret is we did not get another dessert tart to bring home. Great meal!"

  • "Every year the food gets better and better. We love knowing that this is because as the resturant thrives and grows so do the excellent chefs! We loved the specials and the new menu!"

  • "Having not been to Edibles for a few years we were pleasantly surprised. We were shown to a corner table which helped since it was a bit noisy. The menu was creative yet still had some old favorites. The service was helpful and friendly. Food was very good value. Only disappointment was the cup of decaf coffee which probably had been sitting on the burner too long."

  • "One of my friends is a chef, and the rest of us love to explore. The platter full of tastes was perfect. Waiter captured our mood and service was great."

  • "The meal was good, but certainly not for the price. Nothing stood out in the flavors and although it was good, it was just not worth the price we paid for it. I believe the prices should be dropped by $10/plate based on portion size and flavor. The atmosphere was OK. Everything was just OK with a price that should be paired with greatness."

  • "I went with my boyfriend for a date night Tuesday and it was absolutely delightful! I'd heard a couple mixed reviews from 'outstanding food' to 'waiters forgot my credit card' but our experience was the epitome of pleasant. It sounds like the general quality might waver a little on busy nights so I would suggest going on a weekday night. It's such a little place with a wonderful ambience! The appetizers were definitely the highlight. Those jump shrimp are to die for."

  • "We were a party of 6 for lunch celebrating our secretary's birthday. Food was great. Server team of two young men was attentive without being intrusive (they were also very personable and extremely nice looking!). The shrimp box and beet salad were standouts, but nothing could top the Creme Carmel macchiato Flan which was the best flan I have ever tasted! Highly recommended."

  • "We had been to Edibles several years ago but didn't have any particular memory of it. We were more than delighted to find very friendly staff, from the bartender to the hostess, to the server. The menu is different from the ordinary and the food was superb. Our dishes included the borscht, pierogies, salmon with amazing roasted brussels sprouts, and scallops. There were no leftovers at our table of 4 and we would all return."

  • "The menu covers the meat lovers and vegans in your party! It is a small menu but covers all tastes. Gourmet flair food. Would definitely go again."

  • "Good food. Ridiculously small servings. Very overpriced. They are trying to be an upscale, fancy restaurant, but my husband and I left feeling hungry and very disappointed."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The food was so disappointing. I had the French onion soup and it was so bland; it was a bowl of water with onions in it. My fish came out like a stew so it sat in the hot broth continuing to over cook itself. Basically the food wasn't great. However, a very well made martini."

  • "We went to Edibles for our Valentines Day celebration and were treated to an exquisite outing. We started off with an excellent martini, and then had a great discussion with Rory, our server, over selecting the special five course Valentines menu vs the regular menu, and we finally settled on the Valentines menu, which turned out to be an excellent choice. Our compliments to the Chef and staff---the food was great, especially the sea bass entree! It was moist, light, and with a wonderful taste. Our server (Rory) was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and efficient. All in all, it was a wonderful night and an excellent meal!"

  • "We decided to give edibles a try for my birthday dinner. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. I brought my 11 year-old son along for the occaison. Although he was a good sport about it, the menu is not one that wod appeal to most younger guests. I will leave him home the next time we come."

  • "Our evening at Edibles was more than expected. As first time dinner guests we were pleasantly surprised at the delicious dinner."

  • "I was recommended this restaurant for the quality of food but was not at all impressed. The French onion soup was nothing special, the pork/pasta dish was very bland (which we informed the server about and no offer was given to rectify), and the pizza was again nothing special for what was expected. I love supporting local restaurants and had heard this one tries to use local and organic products when possible - so I was rather disappointed to have this experience. A final note - the take out containers are Styrofoam! I don't understand how a restaurant that tries to use local and organic could possibly offer Styrofoam."

  • "Great place for lunch - a must try for dinner some time."

  • "My husband and I went to Edibles and loved the whole experience from start to finish. The space was rustic and romantic with low lighting and great music. We sat next to the window just over the heaters which was great since it was so cold outside. Our waiter was very personable and made wonderful recommendations for the meal. We got the sampler plate appetizer which was a perfect way to start. The duck legs were crisp and tender and the sauce was delicious and the lunchbox shrimp was the highlight of the plate. We also got the special (Crab Stuffed Sole) and the cheeseburger which were both cooked perfectly. We finished the night by sharing the chocolate cake with a cappuccino which were both in our top 10. We will definitely be returning."

  • "Our initial impression was very good: a friendly greeting with an offer to hang up our coats, a table near the window and a welcoming waiter. Then it went down hill. We waited 45 minutes before being served our lunch. When we inquired about the delay, we were told the printer wasn't operating. It seems to me they could have used paper and pen to submit our order to the kitchen if they had been diner-centered.However that no-brainer alternative was not used. The quality of the vegetarian burger we each had was nothing special and the presentation was unimpressive."

  • "The service was fine but our waitress could benefit from a sense of humor. The food was delicious but when it came out it was a little on the cool side. Four people in our party were served while the 5th had to wait for their food. It was obvious some of our food was sitting waiting for the last dish, hence it being warm at best."

  • "Wilted lettuce plated in a way that looked to have been eaten by another table and recycled. The charcuterie plate was a sorry collection of mostly inedible selections. Honey on sharp cheddar is a bad idea but to pair it with a chunk of dry bread and call it "pulled bread" is just absurd. When the slightly pompous server declared this, I choked on my olive (which was one of the lonely good picks this evening). Early in the meal I could not identify the odd additional flavor on all the plates. However, when the mains arrived, I realized with horror that the house specialty of "truffle tots" was actually Sysco tater tots (yes, like the ones served for school lunches) assaulted with truffle oil and the oil was seeping into everything!"

  • "Lunch: We had the salmon with brussels sprouts. The fish was cooked just right, the sprouts were charred. Plate presentation could have showed more effort. No starch, no bread for the table. $18 seemed a bit pricey. The waiter was charming but seemed to forget us whenever he went off to get something we requested. We weren't checked with after being served...we had to ask for coffee refills. The space was c o l d! We asked that the thermostat be cranked up and it was, once. Then all cooled down and stayed chilly, despite several requests for a bit more warmth. A little more effort could make Edibles a place we really look forward to visiting rather than wondering what the glitch would be this time."

  • "Great service! Fascinating selection of beverages and food. Enough diversity to satisfy anyone's appetite and interests. Proximity to the Auditorium made it even better since we were on our way to a play."

  • "Edibles does not disappoint. Lovely ambiance, good service and delicious, interesting food. Brought some leftovers home so I could have dessert and I am glad I did. The caramel nut tart was very good, and leftovers held up for lunch. The wine selection is very good; I've discovered some new wines there. Highly recommended."

  • "Had a lovely evening - food was fabulous, as always. (I've 'discovered' your wonderful gnocchi's – all pastas made by the chef). Pumpkin bisque a favorite of the table. And despite the restaurant being crazy-busy we were seated within a few minutes of our reservation and our waiter was superb."

  • "Food was great. Service was stellar. Even though the place is full, each table has a private feel. The chef's take on lobster ravioli gives both a great presentation and a delicious dish. The house baked sourdough bread is killer. The wine, a 2007 Dona Paula Malbec recommended by server, was outstanding. The only hiccup was that they had run out of all vodka except absolut."

  • "This place has the best food, staff and location one could only hope for in restuarant."

  • "This was my second trip to Edibles. This time we went for lunch. I took six other women and, unfortunately, it was almost empty. Very sad for such excellent food. Only one waiter was on hand and that made sense in a very unbusy Black Friday. Once again, the food was delicious. We had crab cakes and shrimp as starters and everyone loved them. Salads and entrees were equally delightful. I especially recommend the beet and candied nut salad. One detail undermined our otherwise lovely lunch: our waiter did not put our entree requests in until very late and entrees did not appear until almost an hour after our arrival. When asked about their progress, he was rude to me. Perhaps he was nervous, but rude does not encourage returns."

  • "Four of us were traveling to Rochester from Buffalo, for an evening event. I searched for an open place to eat, and by pure blind luck, came across Edibles. The food was excellent! Hands down, the best scallops that I've had in a LONG time! The appetizers (sampler platter and cheese plate) were exceptional, especially the lunchbox shrimp and duck legs. I would go there again, and again, and again!"
