Diner Reviews
  • "Order something simple like flatbread or a burger at this hotel restaurant since the more ambitious dishes aren't executed very well. The patio looking out on the driving range is lovely. Perfect place for lunch and a drink before or after a round of golf."

  • "Edgar's is at the golf club at Quail Lodge. Ate here for dinner and 2 lunches. Food all around excellent. Service at dinner excellent Service during day left much to be desired - not enough help"

  • "Pleasant place with great ambiance. Excellent service, nice place to visit with friends and enjoy a great meal. We appreciated the 50 year anniversary special and enjoyed three courses."

  • "Our #1 reason for choosing to eat at this establishment was bc it had outdoor seating with outdoor heaters & fire pits that was dog friendly to well-behaved pets. The service was outstanding and the views of the golf course was pleasant. We will definitely return to Quail to golf and have another meal with our dogs in the future! "

  • "My first time here. My host recommended the sand dabs and gave me a taste. They were tender and buttery, not heavily breaded, and well worth ordering. My entrée, the chipotle seafood, was well-prepared and not overly spicy, although it was probably too hot for most palates. My favorite item from the menu was the clam chowder, with great flavor and texture, and served with a helping of bacon."

  • "The food was amazing! The service was outstanding! Our waiter was Armell and he was attentive, gave great suggestions, and was super personable. Just all around a perfect evening with friends! The lamb was outrageously good!!"

  • "Best Clam Chowder, ever! Takes me back to childhood. GREAT professional Bartenders the old fashioned kind, resulting in really good Margueritas, Martinis and what ever drink you can create! Great local WINES from our local appellation Santa Lucia Highlands."

  • "They had a nice dinner selection for Valentines day. Each "woman" received a red rose at the table. Very nice. Mario the bartender knew his wines and pairings...a very nice experience."

  • "My family are traveling from Australia and wanted a nice Christmas lunch. We booked Edgar's as we were staying at nearby quail lodge. The food was beautiful, the wines good, and the service great. With young children the staff were accommodating and whilst a nice restaurant felt fine to have children there too. Thank you for the great lunch."

  • "We came for lunch and figured it was a good pick due to high reviews and location to golf course. We were wrong. Quiche was cold (even after re-heating), we were ignored by waiter when he started gushing over his regulars and the only nice part was that the regulars were fairly friendly. We will not return."

  • "Sam, our server was wonderful. He made the experience for us. He went out of his way to make sure everything was to our liking and when the dessert didn't measure up, for us, he took it off our bill. By the way, the lunch was great too. Flat bread pizza to start and then sand dabs. Oh my they were cooked to perfection!"

  • "Great location and setting! We split salads & sandwiches which we all enjoyed"

  • "Food was delicious, good selection of menu items and service was fine."

  • "Yummy burgers and Ceasar salad. Attentive waitstaff. Good choices for wines by the glass."
    Dined on 11/9/2013
  • "Food here is locally sourced and lovingly prepared - right down to the condiments. They make their own ketchup, jams and jellies. The sweet potato fries are delicious and the apple pie (with homemade vanilla ice cream) is worth the calories. The kale salad was beautiful and delicious."
    Dined on 11/9/2013
  • "We have eaten here many times, and service is always SLOW! The food is good to very good, depending upon what you order. Steak & lamb were well prepared. The Sand Dabs were drenched in sauce, which took away from the dish. Our server was friendly and capable. It must be some sort of a hold up in the kitchen (?)"

  • "Our dinner at Edgar's was exceptional. Each course was delicious, creative and well presented. The fish was so fresh, it tasted just caught out of the water. The service was wonderful and the ambiance perfect! I will definitely be dining here again."

  • "We happened to be in the area test driving cars, so chose Edgar's for lunch in between cars. Bit of an old crowd in the main restaurant. We opted to sit outside and service was pretty relaxed. We were in no hurry, so it wasn't a problem. Had lovely food, I had the sand dabs and the accompanying vegetables were delicious."

  • "We last had dinner at the Quail and one of the memorable experiences was the table side Caesar salad, as well as the ambiance and the dinner. Unfortunately, we were not aware that that restaurant was The Covey, which apparently no longer exists. Edgar was a typical country club locale that provides breakfast, lunch and dinner complete with big screen TV's so you don't miss a minute of whatever sporting event you desire. Wasn't what I was expecting on several levels. For what it is, Edgar's is fine."

  • "The food was good at Edgars, service was fine. It's a clubhouse for a golf course so the food is pretty much normal fare. I had pasta with veggies and it was very good. I would go back again but definitely sit on the patio over looking the golf course and lakes. Very pretty and relaxing."

  • "We had a nice time here and thought the food was excellent. The patrons were a much older crowd than we expected."
    Dined on 6/25/2013
  • "This was our first visit and it was terrible. They appeared to be doing some experimentation with some of their menu items. They now have sandabs with bones instead of boneless. The steak was terrible. Tough and very salty. Server was great but that did not make up for this terrible disappointment."
    Dined on 6/14/2013
  • "There isn't much to say except that the food was okay, a lackluster menu. The people were nice. It is a country club. It is not worth going out of your way to eat here."
    Dined on 6/8/2013
  • "We're used to paying a lot to dine in settings this beautiful, for food not nearly this good. And they even have their own parking lot."
    Dined on 6/4/2013
  • "I'm not a golfer, but Edgar's location on the golf course provides a lovely view. Inside, a cozy fireplace. The sand dabs were excellent and the service was helpful and attentive."

  • "Party of 7 for dinner. 3 couples, 1 single. Food was good. They gave us a little room to ourselves. Bar area was almost emoty. Server was good until dessert time. He totally forgot one of 3 desserts ordered. We had to find him to reorder. He presented 1 check to the table and we told him when we ordered that we wanted separate checks. He was baffled by the equest and it took almost 15 minutes for him to divide total and present checks to guests."

  • "We were visiting my mother, who lives nearby, and looking for a good place to eat that wasn't overly expensive. My mother said that many of her friends recommended Edgars so we went. The only difficulty we had was finding the correct entrance to the parking lot in the dark. The food was superb. My nother and I had the half-portion of sand dabs, which was still quite a bit of food. They were cooked to perfection. My husband had a dish made with pasta, beef and Guinness ale that also said was excellent. The restaurant was very quiet and there was a fire in the fireplace. The service was terrific. The wine list is rather short, but good enough to find something that you want. We were very happy with our experience."

  • "I HAVE EATEN AT QAUIL MANY TIMES, AND THE FOOD IS ALWAYS GOOD. SADLY WE WERE SEATED AT OUR TABLE RIGHT ON TIME, BUT BECAUSE THEY SEEMED TO BE UNDERSTAFFED, WE WAITED 20 MINUTES BEFORE WE WERE RECOGONIZED. WE ORDERED DRINKS AND THAT TOOK FOREVER. AT ANY RATE, ONCE THINGS STARTED MOVING, ALL WAS WELL. OUR FRIENDS ORDERED THE DUCK FOR 2 ( A NEW YEARS EVE SPECIAL) , AND ALL AGREED IT WAS THE BEST DUCK THEY EVER HAD...EVER!! MY PRIME RIB WAS DELICIOUS AND THE CUT WAS COOKED PERFECT. MY HUSBAND'L LOBSTER WAS GOOD, BUT HE WISHED HE WOULD HAVE ORDERED THE DUCK OR MY PRIME RIB. THEY NEED TO WORK ON THE LIGHTING!!! I NEEDED SUNGLASSES TO EAT MY DINNER!"

  • "wonderful luncheon choice if you are in the Carmel Area. dined on patio overlooking Quail Lodge golf. quiet. perfect service -- not rushed. great choices on menu, and it was mushroom festival dining specialties time! highest recommendation for food, ambiance and service. good wine list."

  • "I haven't reviewed a restaurant in a while, but my husband and I were so impressed with Edgar's that I had to share our experience. The hostess greeted us right away and led us to our table, and we were quickly greeted by at least two servers who brought water and took our orders. We shared the baby artichoke with garlic crostini, a perfect start to our meal with a bottle of delicious Talbott Pinot Noir. The bread was also wonderful, freshly baked ciabatta with soft butter. Our main courses, lamb chops with brandied blueberry sauce and salmon with a mushroom crust and red pepper/caper garnish, were both incredibly flavorful without being overly salty. Perfection! We will definitely return!"

  • "Classic golf club dining. Food was good. Drinks were good. The decor is stale. Far off the tourist radar and a great respite from that."
    Dined on 9/28/2012
  • "For the second time we were the only guests in the dining room perhaps because the food was not as good as on several previous visits. The vegetables were served cold, and the fish though piping hot, had so much cayenne pepper on it, that we had to scrape the topping off."
