Diner Reviews
  • "While we dine or lunch often at Edgar's Grille, Easter Brunch was not what this restaurant is noted for. We were two couples for 1:00PM reservations, seated promptly, but the food was cold, the shrimp and grits were so cold the grits stuck to the spoon and impossible to dish out, all the buffet food was cold and everyone around us complained about the same thing. They ran out of the roast beef, waited for it for about 20 minutes only to find it so raw, it was at a dangerous level of cold meat. The gravy had hardened fat floating to the top, I told the server the gravy was cold, he answered: "no it's hot," he proceeded to test it with his gadget and admitted it was cold. They need to do better with brunch, before Mother's Day for sure. "

  • "The brunch was good, but not what I expected for an Easter brunch. Food was good, but not as good as when ordering from menu, I guess buffets are just more difficult. I will go back for dinner, but probably not for a brunch. Service was good, as always. Glad to have this little restaurant in our area."

  • "Took spouse as a treat - it was the kind of place he was glad to visit and I was glad to go. Food is presented well and the portions are huge! We took some of the appetizer ( calamari) home with us. Got to try a beer that we had not seen before ( Chattanooga) and found that the wine list was ample with many good choices. They say you want to have a reservation - we did and glad we did - the place filled up fast and others had to wait in the bar for a table. It was good to have the ability to get a great meal with good service and selection and know that it helps out students and the Goodwill industries. "

  • "For a single open room, it was easy to carry on a conversation, comfortable booth, food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed except the leek soup was too salty, the seafood pasta was mediocre."

  • "Completely unacceptable to show up for a 10:30 reservation and be told "Sorry we don't open until 11:00". If you don't open until 11:00, why do you have reservation slots at 10:30? And why did your sign out front say 10:30?"

  • "I went here for dinner with a few my friends. All of our food was delicious. Among us, we had the fried green tomatoes, white pizza, warm mushroom salad and bison burger. None of us were disappointed. I also had a sangria and it was one of the best I have had! They bring some good bread to the table like a typical restaurant, however it is accompanied by their yummy pimento cheese. It had a nice ambiance, and we had a good time. "

  • "Awesome atmosphere. Great for couples looking for a night out where they can dress up and enjoy each other on a night out without the kids."

  • "On recent visit I took my mom & sister there. I had the butter salad, which was perfectly dressed & very tasty. Sister had the korean beef which she raved about. My mom wasn't thrilled with her pasta dish, thought it was a little dry but she's used to overcooked pasta which is heavily sauced. We liked it enough to return that evening with larger family group and once again experienced excellent, friendly service & great food. The lemon drop martinis were delicious. Some of us shared the rabbit tenders (delicious!). Overall, everyone liked their food and was happy to have such a nice place to be together in."

  • "The reservation staff was outstanding. The waitress we had was pretty bad. To be fair, it sure seemed like the other wait staff were considerably better. The food was good. Vegetables were excellent. The anchovies on the Caesar salad were of the bait variety. I am a big fan of anchovies; this was like nothing I have ever tasted."

  • "Edgar's represents a different venue as compared to the overall restaurant experience in Augusta, more upscale and has a nice menu to chose...."

  • "We all went for the $5 pizza night special. We had six people and everyone got a different type of pie. The entertainment was great. A really nice mixture of jazz standards. We had a wonderful evening."

  • "The food was very well prepared and presented. However, one person in our party received her lamp chops cold. Another ordered scallops and they were cold. The waiter did eventually replaced the lamp chops. My friend who ordered the scallops declined the offer for replacement. The pizza was hot and tasty. The piano music delightful. Overall, the service was painfully slow between courses. We were there for three hours and there were only four of us. We even had to hunt for our waiter to get our checks. I won't be returning.."

  • "Food & service was good. The only thing we don't like is the noise level. We have eaten there several times & noise has always been a problem."

  • "the food is always very good here but the service continues to be sub par. they never have enough servers and so you mihgt wait 10-15 minutes before they even come up to your table after you are seated. very good wine list but they white wine is never chilled and so you have to wait again another 20-25 minutes to get it chilled. for some reason our server said they keep all their wine at the "red wine" temperature."

  • "Happy to have a decent dining option North of I-20. Food was excellent and very ingredient focused. A lot of the newer foodie establishments in Augusta can get carried away with ingredients that sound great when talked about or written on a menu, and cooking methods that lose sight of the final goal. Edgar's is refreshingly simple, clean, and delightful fare. Our service was professional and timely; our waiter was studying for his sommelier exam and provided accurate recommendations and decisive opinions when asked. Cocktails and espresso drinks made by the bartender (also an aspiring sommelier, professional bartender and barista, and certified Aussie) were comparable to Holeman and Finch, H Harper Station, and other Atlanta cocktail bars."

  • "Food and service were great. Music was way too loud! A friend at our table had just come in from France for 48 hours and we could barely talk to her. We only get together once a year, so conversation was important. Your music selection was not good."

  • "What a terrific evening! The staff at Edgar's went out of their way to make my friend's 30th birthday dinner a huge success. The hostess was genuinely sweet and went out of her way to help carry gifts and cupcakes to our table. The staff was attentive but not overbearing; we had water when needed and never had to wait longer than a moment to ask a question or make a request. The four of us enjoyed the bison strip steak, the salmon and two brick oven pizzas (veggie and margarita) all of which was superb. We all decided a second trip was necessary for the bison strip alone. Thank you, Edgar's for a top-notch evening out."

  • "This was my 3rd visit. Last evening, I took my best friend for her birthday. She was equally pleased as I have been. There were some new items on the menu. I loved the Warm Mushroom Salad. Edgar's the best restaurant to open in Augusta in several years."

  • "The menu offers a pretty good variety and acceptable pricing. Food is delicious and presentation is good. The warm sour dough bread and pimento cheese spread is the highlight of the meal, absolutely the best. Have dined there more than once always enjoyed what we ordered. However, we were disappointed that we dined after 8 pm and they were out of too many things. Also, we had a confirmed reservation and it took much longer than it should have to be seated. But we will definitely go to Edgar's again and recommend it for a delicious meal."

  • "We booked reservations for 8pm, with a reservation it still took us 35-40 minutes before we were seated. What's the point of reservations! When I asked the receptionist what was taking so long and why make reservations if it's still going to be a long wait...she said the reservations is to ensure you get a table period. I wasn't very happy to hear that. I've never made a reservation and had such a long waiting period, maybe 10 minutes but definitely not 35-40! I mentioned to her that we also had reservations that we needed to get to by 10 and she "guaranteed" that we would make it. We were late. We felt rushed through our service and our meal, and couldn't really relax as we had wished. The food was great but the experience wasn't the best."

  • "Went to Edgars for jazz and pizza night and found the place packed! While the wait for pizzas was a bit longer than normal, it was understandable because of the larger than normal crowd. As usual the food was outstanding and I will definitely return."

  • "Each time we get the chance to have an evening out Edgar`s is our first choice .My husband and I enjoy the fact that we can sit have a drink and talk over the menu and do not feel rushed.A wonderful addition is the Happy Hour and five dollar Pizza on Thursday evenings. When we have out of town guests I will bring them to Edgar so they may enjoy a non typical Augusta Restaurant."

  • "I had booked Valentine's dinner.......but, due to an ice storm and Edgar's losing power they called and offered another date. I joined a few friends for lunch. We were seated at two tables of six. Our orders were taken promptly, a few ordered soup. I had the crusted salmon on a cucumber and tomato salad.....I wanted something light and this fit the bill. Service was friendly and knowledgeable any questions we had were answered. AAA++++"

  • "Edgar's has been an very nice, added, dining spot to the Augusta area, is quite nice and cointinues to improve with new items upon each visit! It is asasociated with the school of cooking, which adds to the ambience."

  • "Took my girlfriend there for the special Valentine's Day menu. It was absolutely outstanding. Lobster bisque starter, seafood risotto with Lobster tail, and a cream and raspberry tart for desert. Just delicious! This is the second time we've eaten there and both have been extremely pleasant experiences."

  • "I've been to Edgar's a number of times and the service is usually excellent, but I was disappointed with my last visit. There were long stretches of time when we were waiting, to an extent that is unacceptable even on a busy night. I am also pretty sure that someone in the kitchen accidentally gave me some kind of seafood glop instead of pureed parsnips (both similar in color I suppose) and I had a severe allergic reaction. In this case I think it was just bad luck because I have never had any problems like this during any other visits, but it was still amazingly bad. I am afraid to go back because next time I could go into anaphylactic shock."
