Edgar's Grille - AugustaNice for a special occasionMy husband and I took my son and parents for his post college graduation dinner. We found all of the dinners delicious , except the sharpness of the tomato sauce on the vegetarian gnocchi. The salads were excellent. The deserts were a bit too complicated, not the upscale southern experience of the other foods. Maybe add another desert option everyone will recognize.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentHad Mothers Day brunch for my first visit. Very impressive. High quality all the way. Great food.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticatedThis was my second time at Edgars. Near Columbia County there aren't a lot of restaurants I'd call sophisticated so it's nice to have Edgars. The food was good and visually appetizing.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, great service onGood food, great service on a very busy Mother's Day5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visiting and overallFirst time visiting and overall everything was positive5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTo us Edgars is the placeTo us Edgars is the place to go. The food is great and it's close to home. I hope they just keep up the quality and service.
We have taken several friends there and they loved it. We recommend Edgars to our friends.
Keep up the good work.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely placeI was surprised and glad that I finally went there for dinner. We all enjoyed the place, the service, and the food very much.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery niceThe food was very good with one exception. Having grown up in the area and with many, many hours of my youth spent in small and large gardens, I was always taught that the rib/spine of the collard should be removed prior to cooking because of it's strong, fibrous nature. My collards tasted great but I wasn't used to the toughness due to the rib still being attached. It didn't affect the taste though. Chipped glass and replacement had a very tiny amount of food stuck to it.
EXCELLENT restaurant but out of my price point except for very special occasions. Great Job Goodwill!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale, intimate dinning,Upscale, intimate dinning, the food was excellent and the service was top notch. I would encourage everyone to check this place out.Fabulous addition to the restaurant scene in Augusta.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!Great dining addition for Augusta ... Refreshing atmosphere and overall fantastic dining experience !4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the evening very much!Enjoyed the evening very much! Will definitely be back to try other menu selections, although my meal was delicious and I wouldn't mind having the same thing again. I particularly enjoyed the salad (with apples, walnuts and cheese. I liked the atmosphere and even though we sat inside, the outdoor seating area looked very pleasant and there aren't enough restaurants with outdoor seating in Augusta.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAn all around gem for Augusta! An all-around gem for Augusta! An experimental menu mixed with all-time favorites made our dining experience fun and one-of-a-kind! Outside seating provided a quieter and more intimate ambiance compared to inside's hip and busy scene.
We would definitely recommend the smoked muscles and shrimp and grits! To top off our special evening out, our server brought us a card hand-signed by the staff for our one-year wedding anniversary. A lovely and thoughtful touch!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCould offer more padded seatsCould offer more padded seats for comfort. Would prefer the Eggs Benedict to be served on non-sweet cornbread. Salad with greens, truffle vinaigrette, apples, etc. was perfect.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe will return! Our first time to Edgar's. We will return.
Food was excellent and service was attentive.
Seating for two along the long bench in front of the kitchen is cramped. Way too cramped. It needs to be thinned out by removing one or two of the tables. Even our very fit and trim servers couldn't make it work in that space. Might have well as just all sat together at a very long table.
Patio looked like a great choice, especially after dark. Good place to go with friends.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen there quite a few times.Been there quite a few times. We love it and I hope they keep up the quality and service.
Best local restaurant. We have sent friends there and they love it.
Keep up the good work. Close to where we live also.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLong wait, even with opentableHad to wait 45 minutes for our reservation. But as soon as we sat down, everything was great!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat to be greeted by namegreat to be greeted by name at the door. makes the diner feel welcome and important to the restaurant. staff was very cordial and gracious. nice wine list. dinner options were diverse and interesting. our dinners were plated beautifully. it was my third time at edgar's and each evening has been a very positive encounter. i like the decor (looks like atlanta),the staff, and the whole experience...so much so that i have introduced five people to edgars and plan to bring more. looking forward to another edgars experience soon. bunny simon williams4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMServer took to long gettingServer took to long getting our cocktails after ordered, & taking our food order after that. The place wasn't that busy. The food was excellent!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie HeavenThis was our first trip to Edgar's Grill and we were quite impressed. The place is absolutely beautiful and the food was better than delicious. What Goodwill is doing for the community with their school is amazing. I would recommend you try anything with the Trotter duck (the prosciutto tapas plate was fantastic). The butter greens salad with walnuts, cheese, and a little lemon vinaigrette is something I wish I could have for lunch every day. We had the pork chop and cornmeal-battered fish (flounder, I think?) and they were both amazing. I even had dessert, the panna cotta, which was just wonderful with the apricots. We will most definitely be back!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMIn Augusta for the Masters. In Augusta for the Masters. We worried about wait times and decided to make Open Table reservations. We did not know the area or the restaurants. What a pleasant surprise to find this new, hot restaurant. The food was phenominal and the service was oustanding. My only wish is that there was one closer to home.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very good dinner,We had a very good dinner, but felt the menu was a little limited. The special that evening was reasonable and very good, but $ 40.00 for a 6 oz filet seemed a bit pricey. Waitress, Stephanie did a great job. Attentive and got all our questions answered. If in town, we would return. Not a business dinner place, too $$$, but would be great for a special dinner.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place - service andGreat place - service and food all good even during a very busy rush of Masters weekend4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGoing back...Great spot! Friendly staff and fast service. Will return!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for any occasionAlthough new to the Augusta restaurant list it is a wonderful experience
Very friendly and the Chef is wonderful4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good but FYI...pricesReally good but FYI...prices DOUBLE during Masters week4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Resturant, great food,New Resturant, great food, wait staff needs a little more training, but very much still worth going4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting Augusta andWe were visiting Augusta and found this restaurant on Open Table. We wer not disappointed at all. The food was served beautifully. the service was great, and the tasta was right up there with any fine restaurant. I loved the fact that the cooking school was right next door and the premise was for Goodwill.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMManuel's is a Gem!Received a recommendation from Ashley @ the Pinnacle Club for Sunday dinner since they aren't open. Wonderful streetside setting close by the river with an excellent menu & impeccable service!
Will return next year during the Masters week.
Chuck4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was outstanding & our waitress,It was outstanding & our waitress, Taylor was exceptional in service & personality.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Wife and I have been twice,My Wife and I have been twice, we loved it. Last Friday we took three other folks. We all agree it is the best thing in the Augusta and Martinez area. We will be regulars as we live only a short distance away. Thank you for opening Edgars. Also I would like to thank the chef's for doing such a great job.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNew place to frequent!Edgar's is associated with a culinary school and has just recently opened. The evening we went was very nice. Good wine list! The Tapas/Small plate menu is very interesting. We tried the Bruschetta/olives and fried green tomatoes. Both were well presented and had excellent flavor. My wife had the shrimp and grits/sausage and thought it was as good as any at the other upscale establishments in Augusta. I had the Caroline flounder which was lightly breaded and pan fried with a wonderful sauce. The desserts defy description -be prepared for an interesting treat! Service was attentive but unobtrusive. Will certainly be back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery romantic environment.Very romantic environment. Staff very professional and energetic. Is my favorite place now. Food was excellent.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSeemed like the bread wasSeemed like the bread was some sort of corn bread ... at least it appeared to be that way. I would have like a more home baked traditional white bread. I did not care for the two spreads they had with the bread either. I think one was a pimento/cheese spread and not sure what the other was. Just some simple butter as an alternative would have been great.
I had the crab cakes as an appetizer, they were very delicious. I would have like some sort of sauce with them though.
I had the beef steak with augratin potatoes ... they were both delicious.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bruschettas with oliveThe bruschettas with olive tapenade and goat cheese were excellent as well as the gnocchi which were delicate, the tomato sauce was the best I ever tasted with its strong rich flavor enhanced by the chanterelles and the asparagus were cook to perfection.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go BackGreat service with outstanding food. We chose Edgars for our anniversary celebration and because we support the training concept. We were very pleased with our menu choices.
Because of food allergies,I was unable to eat the vegetables offered with the entree, but that was no problem and others were substituted with no problem. Very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to go back.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMNoise levelThe noise level is very high and on the 2 occasions I've been there it was difficult to carry on a conversation at a table for 4. When I booked the most recent reservation I requested a booth thinking that would be better for conversation. I followed up the on line booking with a telephone call the following day to assure a booth would be reserved and was assured I would get a booth. When my party arrived ON TIME for our noon Easter Brunch booth reservation it was given to another party. HOW DISSAPOINTING. the food and drinks were outstanding but when a reservation is assured for a booth, measures should be taken to provide it!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent gourmet food; wonderfulExcellent gourmet food; wonderful atmosphere. I'll be back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Gourmet Brunch! The restaurant is nice and upscale. It's not very big and has a nice outdoor area where you can dine as well. The gourmet brunch was delicious! We had the steak & eggs and the eggs julienne. I can't wait to have a romantic dinner there with my husband. It is the perfect spot!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVerify Sunday/special hoursOverall not a welcoming experience. Booked 3pm reservation for mom and daughter for easter Sunday dinner, was not told at the time that restaurant was only open til 3:30. We were informed after food was served. Extremely limited menu for this easter brunch. Needless to say we felt very rushed to inhale food and run. Another party had reservation for 3:30 they were reluctantly seated as some staff were obviously leaving for the day . They decided not to stay. Food, service ambience great. Communication and customer service not so great.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved the modern atmosphere. We loved the modern atmosphere. We loved the duck prosciutto, the lamb tapas, the duck confit and the chocolate pave was the best chocolate dessert I ever taste in Augusta. Wines were very affordable. Augusta needed an upscale restaurant with a modern feel like yours.....thank you for bringing it to us.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I - in townMy friend and I - in town for a few days from Atlanta-were hoping for a nice restaurant dinner as we really enjoy good -chef driven food. We were NOT disappointed. Edgar's is outstanding..... and they have a really good and-important- a very reasonably priced wine list. ..we were in heaven. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner - pork chop-lovely piece of meat and wow-perfectly cooked to request [med rare]. Would liked to have more apple marmalade as it was just that good. the flounder was lovely altho I do have a small thing abt salsa on fried things as it makes the crust soft-.. the pea beans were a little crunchy..otherwise great flavor . We wd definitely eat there again - it was our fav restaurant of all those we tried.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMConstructive CriticismTo start off, everything was very, very good, especially for a restaurant that just opened. The service was wonderful and the food very good. I do have a small bit of constructive criticism. The couple that I came with order the Olive Tapas and they were very disappointed with it. It was over priced for a cup of store bought olives and some very hard toast. I think they were expecting a olive spread and some edible bread. Again, this is only constructive criticism in hopes that Edgar's continues to improve. I like the location and I want to return many times. Thank You3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative Preparations!Really great food, creative preparations. Knowledgeable waitstaff, fun environment. A bit on the loud side with the soaring ceilings. Smoked mussels are great...try the salmon, collards and corn pone cakes...oh my gosh, mouth watering!!! Go find Edgars! They hit a home run for Augusta.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was wonderful,Everything was wonderful, just thought it was a tad expensive.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthumbs up, great effort, back soon.4 adults. Excellent experience--reservations met exactly on time, requested seating honored. wait time for food service was minimal & better than expected for very busy evening, calamari & fried pickles very tasty and hot, bread excellent, entrees all served hot and at same time, literally. very good service altho waiter totally forgot the only pre-entree salad ordered-- entrees received but salad never came....reminded waiter of it after entrees had already come......but we overlooked it, & was not a big deal. rest of service excellent. It happens, but shouldn't. Didn't cause experience any harm, however, as everything was great. All entrees wonderful.....2 flounder, 1 chicken, 1 special salad as entree. Can't wait til next time.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect date!My date & I had a fantastic evening here. It is a beautiful & relaxed setting. Outstanding service. Looking forward to brunches & more dinner dates here!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, a great dining experience.Overall, a great dining experience. Our guests, from out of town, were very happy with their dining experience.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI made a reservation for 6:30I made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. I saw no maitre d' when we arrived I was told in the confirmation email to check in with the maitre d' upon arrival. I was not told when we would receive the 100 Open Table Points or not. I am not even sure what that is. Could you explain? We were greeted by a nice girl who showed us to our table. The table was small, I realize there were only two of us but felt very confined during the meal as there were two others one on each side dining. The noise level was quite high. The food was EXCEPTIONAL.
We will go back but would rather have a table where we could talk and not feel so confined.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTwice in a row.I've been disappointed a number of times on my second trip to a restaurant, but not this time. I liiked it as much as last time. Get the Chet's salad and the mussels and the crab cake and the pork chop. Don't get the soup. I love the bread.
The bar is very good. We got great service and good drinks.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI had fried green tomatoesI had fried green tomatoes and potatoe soup...very good! My wife had the fried flounder, it was not greasy, presentation was nice, old school wants tartar sauce! My friend had the steak and shared a small piece. It has a very nice taste but the steak appeared a bit small for the price! I had a glass of the house cabernet and it was very good. I liked the appearance of the restaturant, however, the chairs were not very comfortable. Overall, I like the restaurant and will come back.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
