Diner Reviews
  • "My boyfriend and I were in Banff for the weekend and decided to go "all out" while staying at the Rimrock. What an excellent decision! I was amazed by how much food we had and how fantastic it tasted! We started with champagne and it was to die for! I had the vegetarian tastings and he had the pork jowl, the beef tenderloin, and the maple pumpkin dessert. Between some of the courses, there were little samplings and our favorite was definitely the champagne sorbet. We weren't fond of some of the wines but overall, each pairing complimented quite nicely! The meal was finished with delicate petit fours: salted caramel macaroon, cranberry jelly, and vanilla bean marshmallow."

  • "Everything about our experience at Eden was exceptional: The taste, temperature and speed of the food was perfectly coordinated by the professional and knowledgable staff. In addition, the staff were all attentive and helpful without being imposing. The details of the decor and the view from our table created the perfect atmosphere and my boyfriend and I were given a tour of the wine room as we were leaving, a perfect touch at the end of the evening."

  • "With many Calgary high end restaurants dumbing down the dining experience (no linen, high nose level, common menu - nothing special, infrequent menu changes, poor wine lists) we drovew to Banff to the Rimrock Hotel to dine at Eden. Everything was supberb from arrival to departure after 5 hours of enjoying the Chef's 10 plate tasting menu accompanied by 10 wine parings. Truly the best dining experinece we have had in the Calgary-Banff area."

  • "Fine dining at its best! Incredible service, they paid so much attention to us, answered our questions, and delivered wonderful food & wine pairings. Many surprise courses and fun little amuse bouchés, plus the sent us home with carrot cake for the next day. Fabulous value and well worth the price, actually felt like we got much more than we paid for. if you are not accustomed to fine dining, they are not snobby nor do the make you feel uncomfortable. Very flexible with the menu. Had an amazing evening!!"

  • "We have been to the Eden a few times and it never disappoints. The ambience, service, food and overall experience is truly one of a kind and magnificent. The view is also spectacular. Be prepared for 2-3 hours of fabulous food and fine dining. The wait staff and sommelier are first class, knowledgable and friendly. Extensive wine list from $60 to a few thousand but what choices. We shall return."

  • "Beautiful view of the mountains, valley and Banff townsite, in a classy setting. Loved the amuse-bouche surprises. Food was beautifully presented and delicious, though few "wow" taste experiences - expected because of prior reviews. Waiters were professional and helpful. Overall a lovely and unique experience. Our third visit in just over a year."

  • "It was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had! My husband and I went for the wine pairing dinner and we were so impressed!! I did not request for window seating but notified them that it was my hubby's birthday and they surprised us with window seats. Stunning views of the mountains! Everything was perfect; from the food to the service, highly recommend Eden! Go splurge yourself and your significant other, you will have the most exquisite dining experience."

  • "dinner at Eden on Feb 14th for a romantic dinner and I found the staff to be very kind, considerate and appropriate, except the guy serving liquor. I believe he is the beverage manager and he was servicing us with a trolly full of alcohol. He was sooo loud and obnoxious where he did not recognize the romantic time that was happening at other tables. He was so out of touch that we had to stop our conversation at our table until he finished his conversation at another table. why doesn't the general manager of the restaurant not recognize this so far and addressed this with man? it was very unprofessional behavior the rest of the staff btw were great.. it was only liquour serving guy that i was concerned with..."

  • "Eden is pricey and for this reason we only go on very special occasions! that being said, our experience has always been amazing and you get what you pay for! Staff at Eden sure know how to make you feel special! We feel very fortunate to have a five star so close to home and in the most fantastic environment! Love love love Eden"

  • "Eden is a great place no matter what the occasion is. Food is always great, service is excellent and staff is friendly. Never had a bad experience. Dress code is very reasonable and the space for privacy is ample. We have attended this restaurant on three separate occasions and each visit was as memorable as the last. Great place."

  • "We have dined in many different upscale restaurants in Canada, USA and in Europe and realize the difference between having a meal at a chain restaurant and having a dining experience at a fine 5 star establishment. I also realize that in order to receive haute cuisine and delectable wines means that the bill at the end of the evening will reflect the quality of the tastes and presentations presented in the meal. However, when the portions are such that three courses leaves you feeling very unsatisfied, paying an exorbitant amount leaves you feeling more than empty. The monetary value should reflect in the whole experience, especially the quality and quantity of the meal. We strongly feel that we did not get an appropriate value."

  • "We had a wonderful evening... Food was fabulous and the wine pairing was the best idea.. All wines were very complimentary to our choices of food..... One of the best dining experiences...thank you!"

  • "One of the best meals of my life. We each enjoyed three courses with wine pairing, and ensured each selection differed, so we could try as many Eden creations as possible. Our main courses, the Alberta Beef and BC Sablefish, were the stars. The sommelier did a superb job selecting wines I would not have chosen, but will look for in the future. The only disappointment was the inevitable end of the meal. Make room in your travel budget for Eden. It will be your best Banff dining experience."

  • "Excellent, locally inspired food. Extensive wine list with unique champagne cart wheeled to the table before dinner and after dinner selections brought out on separate cart for selection & pouring. Service prompt and precise but somewhat snobby, not typical of Canada. Modern, spare, elegant interior with minimal decor, large leather wing chairs, dark wood paneling and local landscape paintings. Mountain views during daylight."

  • "Eden is still my favorite restaurant in Canada. The food is creative, beautiful and delicious, with inspired flavor combinations and tremendous attention to presentation. The service is perfect - attentive and not bothersome, informative and not pretentious. Eden rivals the finest restaurants in New York City with the appropriate amount of Canadian charm."

  • "The summary: money does not matter there (believe me, I'd be the last person to say such a thing otherwise), it's real Eden, and we'll be back -- and OFTEN. Special thanks to Gustavo and Chad for great accommodation, and to magician named Robert for his unbelievable wine pairing. Just one question: is Chief really from this planet? his creations are celestial."

  • "Staff was very friendly, and even though not the greatest restaurant for kids, they were very accomodating with our three year old. They took him back to meet the chef, and showed him around the kitchen, and the chef made pasta for our son . I would highly suggest the Eden wine pairing (higher quality wines), as the pairings with the wine were superb. Overall, good experience, food was excellent, but I would suggest eating a small meal before hand in the Larkspur lounge, and then heading into Eden, as portions are very small."

  • "We joined our Calgary relatives to celebrate our Mother's 90th birthday. The location is a knockout, the service attentive without being overbearing, and the food was on par with anything worldwide. Thanks to all staff for making our Mother's birthday memorable!"

  • "My husband and I ate at Eden for our anniversary dinner. It was recommended by a friend who used to a great deal of event planning and was quite familiar with your restaurant. It was a lovely evening. The restraurant is beautiful, although we could not enjoy the view because it was dark. The service was outstanding and everyone made our dinner extra special. Special dessert too. Would definitely recommend! Thank you very much."

  • "Right after you are seated a trolley comes by with a selection of champagnes and sparkling wines to be served by the glass. No mention of any prices associated and you get the feeling that this is a complementary act. When the cheque arrived after a wonderful meal we found that the cost was $59 a glass for the champagne we had. That put a real damper on our experience. Questionable marketing tactics and they don't need to push liquor sales in this manner to begin with. The trolley came by at the end of the night asking if we wanted a nightcap. Glad we said no."

  • "Eden is by far our favourite restaurant for that very special evening. Whether ordering the Grand Degustation (12-course meal), the Chef's Tasting Menu or the Four-Course Menu, it is consistent every single time. We always get a wine pairing, and we've always been happy with the selection given. I've never seen the level of service such as what's provided at Eden. We were treated like royalty, and it's been that way every time. Presentation is important and some of the portions appear small, but if you get the four-course menu or above, you should be leaving more than satisfied, and have experienced some very creative, delicious dishes. I would not recommend anything less than a three-course meal if you expect to feel satisfied."

  • "I tried the tasting menu which is a seven course menu. Everything was phenomenal, taste, presentation, service, view. But my surprise, was the salmon poached in bees wax, it was cooked perfectly - I have never had better salmon."

  • "Amazing service and food. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and they interacted with such grace, There is no stuffiness in this place they make you feel welcome and were quite humorous throughout the night. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and had ordered the chef tasting menu that had duck as main course and we couldn't be happier. It was very busy with every table occupied but the tables are well spaced from one another it was very romantic.. Although it was dark outside at 8pm they had this firepit blazing in the court yard and also this brilliant green light that lit up all the trees it was Beautiful. Chris and Robert were awesome. Looking forward to going back again in November where they run a special,"

  • "The food is excellent but overpriced. It's very easy to spend $400 for two people, even without going overboard on wine selection. The portions are relatively small, large enough for my fiance and myself but bigger eaters would go away hungry. I know several places I can get food of similar quality and perhaps even larger portions at a cost of only $200 for two people. However the presentation of the food and the service is second to none, making the evening a truly enjoyable experience. This is especially true if one of the wine pairing options is chosen. I would consider going back for a special occasion but only once every year or two, just because of the price."

  • "We were here last year at the same time and were blown away by the Chef's tasting and wine pairing. It was a 10 course meal. This year we went all out and did the Grand Degustation with wine pairing. A pricey $353/pp. It was more expensive than our meal last year and I wasn't as impressed. Last years meal was absolutely out of this world and the portions were bigger and there was much more protein in the menu. Still an amazing experience this year but not as good as the year before unfortunately and for the price, we were a bit disappointed. The view and ambience cannot be beat though."
