The food, service, and atmosphere is always top notch. Great place for a birthday or anniversary. The waiters are some of the best I've seen. Very engaging, happy to give suggestions, and to accommodate you in any way.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT -- if you can afford the mealIf you like seafood, this place will be a hit. The Tartare of Tuna appetizer was delicious. I would recommend their Pacific Swordfish. The lump crab meat and avocado that comes with it is perfect. My Dad ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfectly medium rare, as requested, and didn't even need a sauce. Unfortunately if I do return, it will not be soon. Although the price was expected, the menu price is for the entree alone. Any sides are ordered separately. I had to order a large side of spinach for 4 of us to share. For the price i would prefer to have a side included with my meal, but I may be more picky than others. If you want dessert, get the Hot Chocolate Godiva Cake. We had rose petals on the table, a card signed by staff and a free dessert! We had an enjoyable dinner that lasted 2 hours and we were never rushed. The crab cake was the best I have had in the city, the salmon was cooked to order and the scallops exceeded my expectations. I would definitely return to this restaurant for a typical night out dining or for a special occassion. The only complaint we have was that the food came out way too fast. One waiter had barely cleared the starter plates when another waiter was already waiting to serve the main course. If you want to be in and out in less than one hour Eddie V's would be the perfect place to dine. Another thing however was notable: When we tasted red wine we had ordered it seemed to be fine. After it was decanted though and we wanted to enjoy it with our main course, the wine tasted somewhat flat and had not opened up at all. We called the waiter and the sommelier came to our table. She tasted the wine and came to the same conclusion and exchanged the bottle for our second choice. The food was outstanding and I will be going back to try other items on the menu. I was impressed with the waitstaff who worked together as a team. There was a birthday card from Eddie V staff waiting on the table, a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl (Banana Foster cake - I'm going to go back just for that cake), excellent food and superior service. As regular diners since its inception we were shocked on our last visit, however, to receive a drastically reduced pour on our standard gin on the rocks order. For the same price, instead of a full glass we received about a 1/2" pour in which the olive was not even covered by the liquid! The waiter insisted this has always been the serving size but we have NEVER found this to be true. If Eddie V's is trying to cut costs this is not the way to do it because it makes the bar look REALLY cheap. If this is their new policy we are considering not returning. The wine list has always has been overpriced, but now the cocktails appear to have caught up to that standard. My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary and the staff greeted us with a card and decorated our table. Food was fantastic, we had the lemon sole and the filet as well as the mac and cheese and twice baked potato. Best part was definitely the dessert, the bananas foster! I usually tend to lump all larger chain places into one big bowl of whatever but I was proved wrong last Saturday. The steaks would give Perrys or other notable steakhouses a run for their money - personally i think it was even seasoned better than any other Ive had in Houston. The sides were all on point and reasonably prices. The food was fast but not rushed and nothing ended up being a regrettable order.Our waitress, Lauren P was exceptionally helpful in recommending dishes and was flawless when it came to firing our orders and making sure everything was perfect. I had the Crab and corn chowder for the 1st time and it was pretty good but I definitely prefer the lobster bisque. The 22 oz Bone In Prime Ribeye was so good that I barely touched my crab fried rice or the twice baked mashed potatoes. The steak was well seasoned and the tempature was perfect. Just a great cut of beef. I always order the potatoes. Delicious! The crab fried rice was something new and it was also very good. Ultimately it was too much food and I never made it to my favorite part... The flaming bananas fosters!!
