Eddie V's - La JollaGreat place!Eddie V's made us feel like we were on vacation even though we only live 15 minutes away. Our server Max was amazing. We ordered the seafood tower, wine and the rib eye with some sides. Everything was great. The bar scene is happening and the view is just amazing. He had reservations and showed up on time. The host seated us promptly and also wished my wife a Happy Birthday. We were well taken care of by Roxanne. Wife had the crab chowder which was excellent and the filet mignon. I had the scallops and the recoomended crab fried rice. We finished off with the banana foster. Everything was excellent and so was the service by Roxanne. A nice little touch was the birthday card signed by the restaurant staff. For dinner, we had the seared ahi and filet. Both were very good. For dessert, we went with the Bananas Foster and the Godiva chocolate cake. Both were great! The decor of the place is perfect for the location, elegant, but with a beachy vibe. As for the noise level, folks were having a good time, but the set up of the place made it easy to talk and enjoy ourselves without having to raise our voices.

The staff was amazing. Upon checkin, they immediately wished him a happy birthday. When they sat us at our window-side with an amazing view table, they presented him with a birthday card.
Our waiter was super attentive and helpful when it came to choosing wine and our apetizer and meal. It was both of our first time here, definitely coming back. I think next time I would like to dine closer to the lounge where I can hear the jazz playing. The food was very good, portions were nice, not big and heavy. We met up with 4 of our friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were seated quickly and ordered our appetizer (calamari). We enjoyed the spicy taste and moved on to our soups (Lobster Bisque) which tasted great! Our main dishes consisted of Alaskan Halibut, Chilean Sea Bass, Swordfish, Jumbo Shrimps, and Bay Scallops. The food was excellent all around. We also had sides of mushroom rice, steamed asparagus, and sweet corn. Finally, we all chose Bananas Foster for dessert. Now that really topped it off for all of us! We truly enjoyed our evening, but it was not as good as our first visit. I picked Eddie V's and was a bit nervous because I hadn't eaten there before. My very picky older brother said it was the best halibut he had ever tasted and everyone else raved about their dishes as well.
At the end of our dinner, the manager Kristoff (sp?) came over to introduce himself and ask about our experience at their establishment. We all gave him fantastic reviews about the service, view & food. He then sent out six desserts for the table to share, WHAT A TREAT!

I had told the restaurant it was our anniversary and they decorated our table and left a card from the staff. It was a really nice touch. My husband said the lobster was outstanding. My steak was good. The Bananas Foster was a bit different so I was glad we ordered it. You can get chocolate cake anywhere. The real winner here was the view. We live ten minutes from the restaurant and still were mesmerized with the view. It was a vert romantic dinner! It was pricey. We pleasantly came to find that not only was their food amazing, but their highly professional and courteous staff was far above average. The place had dim lighting almost as if to know that we were to be there to fall deeper in love with each other and the mood had to be just right. We arrived slightly early, but almost instantly seated. The vibrant sounds of smooth jazz echoed in our ears with a live band while we sat at the bar for a few minutes as they prepared for us. Although a seafood place, the steaks they made were superb and our waiter was intelligent and charming. Happy Anniversary card and rose petals on the table. Our waiter greeted us with two glasses of champagne. ! We started with the Calamari that had great presentation and taste! Then on to their Lobster Bisque. My wife opted for their Pan Seared Scallops that were perfectly cooked. I chose their Halibut that was very tasty along with the sauce. Finally, Eddie V's staff surprised us with Banana Foster with rum butter cake/butter pecan ice cream. On the plate they wrote "20 20 20 20 Amazing" in chocolate syrup. The dessert tasted great just as the rest of the meal. I cannot say enough about our extraordinary evening!! Five people ordered five different appetizers and entrees and all were thrilled with the quality and taste of the each dish. Our waiter was superb; he knew 100% of the details of each dish and made our choices extremely tough. Not only was he articulate, but very knowledgeable of the food he was serving. That makes a huge difference to diners when choosing from a menu. He was spot on and our evening was really a ten plus. Eddie V's is a "go to" restaurant in San Diego for us.
Two birthdays were celebrated and the desserts presented for our table were superb. From the hostess to the waiter to the manager, everyone went out of their way to make this night so special.
