  • "Food was good and the service was exceptional! Byron was very attentive, made great recommendations, and went out of his way to ensure we had a great time."

  • "Expect an expensive meal. Selection good. Good selection of wines, but they too were over priced. Steak ($50 al la carte) was slightly over cooked. Total meal was near $200 for 2."

  • "GM Roger H. runs a tight ship. It's wonderful to enjoy the fine food, great service, and ambiance of a quality restaurant and Austin treasure like Eddie's Arboretum. The freshest and fabulously presented sea food is always perfect. Wine and spirit prices are fair, and the wine list will not disappoint."

  • "the restaurant staff went out of their way to make this a memorable dining experience on my 75th birthday. My special request for a window table was also honored without any hassle. Our waitperson Kevin P. deserves special mention for the friendly and professional manner with which he executed his duties."

  • "We are two and really enjoyed dinner. Inside restaurant is a little bit dark but acceptable. I think it may be necessary to keep comfortable noise level. I found people were well dressed and making comfortable environment as well as staffs. Wine: We prefer NZ Sauvignon Blanc for seafood and the wine recommended was perfect and inexpensive. Appetizer: The yellowtail sashimi is perfect and much better than "Matsuhisa"'s similar dish. The soft shell crab is good but nothing special. Entree: The grouper is perfect. The source was thin but make taste sophisticated. The sole was cooked after removed bone and taste was boring. The sole should be smaller or thinner and cooked as is (with bone) and served with simple lemon butter."

  • "We chose Eddie V's to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. The wine list has something for everyone. Our waiter, Byran was truly superb with seamless attention to all of our needs. The shrimp cocktail, the lettuce wedge and the bone-in Filet were all perfect. To top it off, we had the fresh baked blackberry cobbler a la mode (complementary) could not have been a better finishing touch to our evening. Thank you Eddie V for making our anniversary such a memorable occasion."

  • "Crab cakes are the best in the world. So good that they raised the price for HH from $9 to $13! Too popular, I guess. HH drink prices went up, too. Maybe they're just trying to cull out all the HH patrons. Byron is a wonderful waiter - hope you get him when you go to the Arboretum Eddie V's, which is better than the downtown one, imho, partly because the valet parking is free at the Arboretum and mostly because the bar is quieter!"

  • "Extremely great service, great location, but the food was not up to par for the price."

  • "We started going to EVs for special occasions a couple of years ago. This last visit topped all previous. Everything was just right and the staff made us feel very comfortable. The food was outdtanding and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night."

  • "We are so glad we made reservations - otherwise we would not have had a table. We were there to celebrate our 10th anniversary and we were treated like royalty. They were not able to accommodate our request for a quiet & private table (we were in the middle of the restaurant), but they did have a card on the table signed by all the staff, congratulating us. Our favorite item on the menu is an appetizer: Lobster Tacos. Absolutely phenomenal. We also enjoyed Lemon Drop Martinis, Seafood Salad, and Bananas Foster for dessert. Our dessert was on the house and we were amazed by their generosity. There is valet parking and very limited parking otherwise. The entrance into the building is very awkward as you walk into an area with tables."

  • "The drink list is very poor and if you choose to order something besides wine, selection is limited. Also, the drink was expensive and not very good. The restaurant is small and we were originally seated about two feet from another couple dining in a long row of seating. All I could hear was their conversation. We asked to be moved to a booth and were accommodated. Since this location is small and as it is an intimate restaurant setting, I think more thought should be given to table arrangements."

  • "It was a very disappointed and decided that we will go to other restaurant to celebrate our special occasions in the near future. We celebrated our special occasions at Eddie V for many years. Our waiter recommended today's special the lobster dish with two shrimps and two scallops but never disclosed that two shrimps and scallops are extra charges at $17 each. So we ordered it and it costs us over $80 with tax for that dish. We feel mistreated and over charged. So, we will never go to Eddie V restaurant again."

  • "We celebrated our 2nd year at Eddie V's and it was as always, wonderful. Told them about the occasion and they comped the desert for us. Thanks for the great time!"

  • "My wife and I had a great meal from the appetizers through dessert."

  • "This was our first time at the Arboretum location. We always visit the downtown Eddie V's and have never been disappointed, but the Arboretum location was a real disappointment. Although the service was excellent, the food was not that great. The lobster was overcooked and chewy and my fish was overcooked, yet cold. The steak, although cooked rare as requested, did not have a lot of flavor. The Brussels sprouts side was cold and not well-carmelized, as it is at the downtown location--the sprouts were very crunchy and under-cooked. The potatoes au gratin and the bread were fabluous. We'll stick to the downtown location."

  • "Our view of the scenery was obscured by scaffolding. It was too bad because I remember from last time it being very lovely. Then when the sun set just right, the sunlight was in my eyes so I could not even see that much. It was all very delicious though. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Your wine list could use more French wines. Too much loud emphasis on birthdays and anniversaries. We're spending this money; we don't care about little precious at the next table, or the star-struck couple at the other table. Waiters can be snippy and patronizing, although they seem to be trying to be pleasant, and it seems this attitude is coming from a supervisor. I heard one complaining (we were through and leaving) about the people listening in, preventing the server from giving his real opinion of the food to a couple he obviously knew. We spent @127.00 for two just because I wanted to come back for the mushroom salad. You seem to have a very good chef. Give him a chance. All your people are Texas-pleasant, just lacking style"

  • "We recently had dinner at Eddie V's and the food, service and ambiance was absolutely fabulous. We were given a table with a fabulous view of hills and trees of north Austin. Everything the waiter recommended was excellent and he went as far as not recommending a particular choice and recommended something else....he was spot on with his recommendation. We can't wait to return, as we would like to try lunch there very soon and see how it compares to our dinner experience."

  • "Had heard great things about Austin's downtown steakhouses. Saw that EV's had a location in the Arboretum area, so decided to give it a shot. I had a 12oz bone in filet, ordered medium rare and it came out a solid medium. My wife ordered her filet Oscar style, and the kitchen missed it. The server should have caught it too before it came out to our table. The lobster bisque was great, so were the sides. Bottom line, for the cost ($150 for two), everything should have been perfect. Also, we felt a little rushed, as if they were trying to get the table opened up for the next guest. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be "that guy" that holds up a table, but for $150, how bout you give me a few minutes to enjoy the view (which is awesome)!"

  • "We went for dinner at Eddis V's to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary June 17th ... It is one of my wife's favorite's for Halibut. The fish was served to perfection and so was the service... We also love the shrimp cocktail and lump crab meat. Thanks for making our evening special. EF"

  • "Great food, great service, and an incredible experience. I booked a table for our third wedding anniversary for 8:00p.m..my wife and I arrived a half hour early and enjoyed having my truck valet parked. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. I really enjoyed the personal touch of Dan our waiter, knowing our names and the occassion. Dan explained the menu and specials wonderfully. We were never hurried and at the same time never had to wait too long for Dan to pop by and check on us. We will definately visit Eddie V's again... and again and again."

  • "Excellent service, food and ambience. The fried oysters were to die for, lobster shrimp bisque was full of chunk lobster, halibut filet was incredible, filet mignon cooked to perfection. Chocolate mousse with raspberry reduction was a perfect way to end dinner!!"

  • "Just took the family out to celebrate the last day of school and Eddie V's did not disappoint at all. Great food and great service. The large side portions provided plenty of food for the evening as well as a meal the next day. I highly recommend the truffle mac and cheese. We ordered the steak special for the evening. a tomahawk ribeye, as well as the seafood trio special. There was enough food to split 3 ways. Our server was excellent with our children, 8 and 11. He even threw in a free desert for the kids. The place was packed but they were still able to seat us 30 minutes earlier than our reservation time. Professional wait staff and excellent menu options. If you are looking for a great meal in Austin check out Eddie V's."
