Diner Reviews
  • "We had a wonderful celebration and had been looking forward to Eddie V's since we made the reservation. Eddie V's did not disappoint!! Great food and service!!"

  • "I'm in a hurry right now but I wanted to take the time to review one of the best places in austin. My husband said the scallops were one of the best tasting things he has ever had in his life and he is very picky and hates most things. The wine list was the most outstanding thing for me, as well as the service. We went to celebrate a birthday and they gave us a card that some of the waitstaff had signed. Talk about service! Ten stars out of ten, absolutely no complaints. "

  • " I took client's and colleagues to Eddie V's and we were a party of 7. Everything about the restaurant and staff was superior. I would recommend to everyone for both business dinners and personal. The entire party thoroughly enjoyed our experience"

  • "Incredible food. The presentation itself was beautiful. From steaks being pre-cut to having our lobster tail shells removed. Yet the wait staff was so down to Earth and literally providing service before we could even ask for it. Over the top experience."

  • "The food was perfect and so was the service. They gave me the table which i wanted"

  • "We were celebrating a belated birthday and wanted it to be a special evening. We head both heard about Eddie V's, but had never had the opportunity to dine there. Everything was spot on. Great server, fine service and amazing food. We started with the fried oysters. Fantastic. Our main course was the filet and lobster tail. Perfection. Truly an evening to remember and one we will repeat soon."

  • "I've been a big fan of Eddy V's for several years, a frequent flyer. Recently I've been disappointed on my last two visits with the fish. I used to love the parmesan crusted sole but on my last two visits, spaced about a month apart I had to send it back due to a very pronounced "fish tank" taste. Reminded me of very bad cat fish. I believe the restaurant has changed ownership and likely has changed fish purveyors not sure. The menu said the sole comes from the north atlantic. I believe it used to be lemon sole. Anyway I was very disappointed on both visits. The tile fish I ordered to replace the sole a month ago was dry and fishy. The halibut I ordered to replace the sole on this last visit was good but I really miss the sole."

  • "The service was outstanding. The price was high. I know it's Austin and people have a lot of disposable income. But for a blue collar guy its a once a year experience."

  • "The redfish was excellent and they accommodated my allergy nicely! One small vegetable would have been plenty for two women to share, but both the asparagus and broccoli were excellent. The waitress was fun and attentive. I will go back when I'm back in Austin even though I don't generally spend $30 foe an entree alone."

  • "The seafood tower, although an appetizer, is fabulous and plenty as an entree! Excellent ambiance, great band, fabulous food, wonderful night out!"

  • "Had appetizers, entree, wine, and of course the bananas foster! It was a great meal, and hands down my favorite dessert, ever!"

  • "The food and service at Eddie V's are absolutely excellent, and the portions are very substantial. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there. We split the lobster tacos (unbelievable!), she had the red snapper fish of the day and I had sole. Both were fantastic...fresh, cooked to perfection. We split the brussels sprouts, but couldn't finish them. We were stuffed, then came dessert. We split a bananas foster cake. Wow! Two distractions: The entrance is like walking into a parking garage. The customers: many were dressed nicely for a white table-cloth restaurant, but a lot looked like they were headed out to McDonald's. Not much that the restaurant, particularly one near Austin's 6th Street can do, I suppose."

  • "Our evening at Eddie V's was a nice evening with a friend we have not seen for a long time. We did request the lounge because we like the music. However, for some reason, the noise level was extreme. Fortunately, we were seated away from the band. But, the sound, in addition to the patrons, made it difficult to hear yourself speak. Our waiter was not as attentive as we have had in the past as well. That all said, we will still come back!!!!"

  • "Went to Eddie Vs in Austin as we wanted to try it and have not yet made it to the one in our home town of Orlando. Of everything we had from starters of salt and pepper shrimp to grouper and flounder done various ways, all four of us found the food delicious. Add on wonderful attentive though non-intrusive service and a wine list that copes with most tastes and price points and you have a wonderful night out. Plenty of buzz in the place so not necessary the one for a quiet intimate night."

  • "Upscale enough for a romantic evening out with that special someone, relaxed enough that you could walk in off the street for quick bite and live jazz. Ambience is subdued, classy. Dimly lit but not dark, furniture and walls complement each other finely. The staff is dressed professionally and exhibit genuine service; they are not simply waiters. Food is top-notch. Wonderful flavors that come together to make something quite tasty and leave an impression. I had the scallops: delicious sauce, unexpected but delightful citrus, seared beautifully. She had the chopped seafood salad: tasty bits of crab and shrimp throughout, walnuts and avocado: who doesn't like? Quality cocktails and well-performed music. Highly recommend. Will impress."

  • "My family reserved happy hour for my birthday celebration, and the oysters, bisque and crab cakes were just outstanding as was my birthday chocolate dessert shared with my wife and 4 Kids. Service by and with Jose and his Team was the icing on the cake! Thank you Eddie V's - this was my 6th trip to Eddie V's in last 3 months. Keep up the great work. Gratefully, Tom and Family"

  • "My dining experience was excellent with the possible exception of the lighting at the tables was too dim. We had to light up cell phones to read the menu. Other than that it was exceptional."

  • "I had the lobster bisque, filet oscar style, and twice baked potatoes. Every single thing was delicious & our service was exquisite. Will be back again soon."

  • "Our reserved table was available on time as promised. The entire wait staff was very efficient and accommodating - food arrived timely and the presentation was perfect. Everyone tried something different from steak to seafood and each dish was better than anticipated (Eddie V's is my favorite place to eat Ahi Tuna). The restaurant inquired when the reservation was made if there was a celebration of something but we did not expect the rose petals scattered on the table or the complimentary dessert with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate sauce on the bowl rim -- nice touch."

  • "Food, service, and ambiance is superb. It is hard to beat Eddie V's for perfectly prepared seafood. We love the downtown Austin restaurant. Always friendly service, great quality. Jeff Forshee is the waiter to ask for. He will help make your evening a great experience."

  • "Fantastic food, knowledgeable waiters, overall wonderful experience. The seafood was fresh, imaginatively prepared and perfectly sauced. And dish could have been a model for the cover of a feed magazine."

  • "We had a lovely meal at Eddie V's. Our expectations were low for a "chain" restaurant but the service was beyond impeccable, the meals great ( we had grouper, scallops, and shrimp) and the bananas foster cake for dessert was in the "Top 5" of all time for my husband and I. This was a perfect experience all the way around."

  • "Eddie V's is a first class restaurant serving prime steaks and great seafood. Wait-staff at very skilled and attentive, and dressed in white jackets. Very high class. Pricey but worth it. Calamari appetizer is outstanding as are the shrimp and scallops. Portions are large."

  • "As a bit of a customer service snob, Eddie V's hit on all cylinders and we truly impressive. There were only one thing of little note: 1. The "Happy Anniversary" card was wonderful and my wife especially loved it, although it wasn't signed by the two servers that actually served us. Only a little thing, but if you're going to go through the trouble of the card and then providing great service as a waiter it would've been nice to have had their "blessing" on the card as well. I hate to even mention these after such a great experience but really it's just one little thing to be mindful of for detail-oriented service freaks like myself. Great job, Ashley and Steven and your whole team!"

  • "This place has been highly recommended by a number of my friends, and I found them to be true in their representation. I chose it to celebrate my date's birthday because of their recommendations, and because an old friend of his plays in the jazz combo. We had a marvelous evening of terrific food, great service, and superb entertainment. We have both already bragged about this evening to a number of friends and family and plan to return soon."

  • "My wife, daughter and I were looking for a "last night in Austin" special dining experience. We were not disappointed - wonderful night all around. Large portions, so think about sharing to enjoy several great dishes, including the appetizers. We thought the calamari and oysters were top notch. Can't wait to try the new Eddie V's in Chicago!"

  • "From the moment we walked in the door to the time we walked out, everything was top notch. Our waiter was prompt, gracious and funny, the food was the bomb and I don't think we stopped smiling, laughing and toasting the entire 3 hours we were there!"

  • "Great food. Cooked properly. Served elegantly. An exquisite bottle of 20 year old Rioja. And luigi does an excellent job. What a great waiter. The only thing we'd change would be the tuna tartar. Just too big a piece of tuna. We celebrated my wife's 60th. A lot of fun."

  • "We had a delicious, light late night meal. The crabcakes were devine and I lived in Baltimore and know good crabcakes! The only sour note was the hostess at the reception desk. While we had reservations and waited while she went to check on open tables, she returned and made us wait while she helped a couple who had no reservations. We had to remind her we were waiting. The waiter was also snippy when our second course was not served, and we were by then the only guests in the restaurant itself. We did get our second course but it was delayed. The waiter should have come by to tell us the second course would be a bit late but hadn't forgotten us. So while the food was memorable, the service can stand improvement!"

  • "I made the mistake of thinking this restaurant would be on the same level as its sister in the Arboretum. Not even close. While the food was good, the portions were exceedingly small and the prices excessively high. Two of us ordered the 8 oz. "special" with scallops, and were suprised to get 4 small slices of steak and 2 scallops. My 8 year old son could eat that and still be hungry. I don't know how they can call that a "special" when they not only charged $38. for what I gauged to be 4 oz. of steak, but surprisingly to us both, an additional $13.50 for 2 scallops. We both thought the scallops came with the "special". It all could have been served on a butter dish, with room to spare. They misrepresented their "special"."
