Eddie V's - 5th StreetSpecial Special Date Night!Totally worth the once or twice a year dinner out --- the bar does have a great happy hour menu and drink specials!! We will make it in to Eddie V's more often. Our evening was an event started with cocktails in the bar with snacks. Once we got to our table, had the "special appetizer" and ordered our dinners --- bother were seafood and it was prepared percetly. Not over cooked and seasoned perfectly!! The dessert was AMAZING!! It was a salty sweet custard like treat!! Oh, I can't wait to go back for another!! The bartender was very friendly and introduced himself. He had a great balance for being friendly but not interfering with your conversation. Afterwards we were seated at a tiny little table in the corner. I could have rubbed knees with the woman sitting at the table next to us. I know they were trying to seat as many customers as possible at one time, but it was a little uncomfortable trying to get in and out of the table without bumping the table next to me.
Our waiter was very friendly and hospitable. The food and wine was great. We live on the East Coast so we were anxious to check out the seafood. Our waiter was friendly in a professional waiter kind of way . The fried oysters were the best that I have ever tasted and I have eaten many. My friend said that the mushroom salad was just okay. I am sorry to say that the fish dishes that we ordered were more or less "fried fish" entrees and could have been seasoned and sauced more creatively. Our special pre-ordered chocolate cake was fabulous and a surprise gift from the restaurant when we quietly mentioned that we were celebrating an occasion. We wanted to love Eddie and we kind of do. The crab and corn soup was perfect and the Caesar Salad used the leafy ends of the romaine. My wife ordered the sea bass and I had the fillet with shrimp in a cajun butter special. Both meals were fantastic as well as the twice stuffed potatoes and beets.

Food was good, but for the price.......I'd expect better.
My swordfish was dry - though the topping was great.
My wife tried salmon (though not a seafood friend) and did not get converted to a seafood friend. I ate the leftovers.....and a bit over done I would say.
Sides were fine.
Chocolate desert was dry and flat tasting.

He is just what a restaurant server should be: great suggestions, knowledgeable, there when you need him, and invisible when you don't. The crab-fried rice was rich and chewy, very fresh.
The downside was the atmosphere. I like attentive servers, but these folks positively made us feel rushed. It was clear they wanted to get us on with every aspect of the meal so they could turn the table over. And it was freakin' noisy! We weren't that close to the kitchen, but the wait staff were making no effort to tone down the sound, and the crashing and slamming of dishes and silverware constantly across the restaurant was something that made a nice dinner conversation almost impossible.
