Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I ordered the twin lobsters and they were HUGE -- we dine out frequently and very seldom surprised any more, but when the waiter set the plates in front of us -- OMG! Plan on taking a doggie bag home . . ."

  • "I decided to make Eddie Merlot's the spot for my 4 year anniversary and I am SO glad that I did. The food was GREAT. Double bonus for having Bananas Foster for dessert, and our server, Ted, was absolutely outstanding and I will request him every time I dine if possible. He paired our meals perfectly with a recommended glass of wine and made our experience fantastic! I highly recommend Eddie Merlot's."

  • "We took a group of friends out to dinner on a Friday evening. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were given a secluded table in the back in a separate room. The seats were very comfortable and the table was so big and spacious. We've gone to a lot of restaurants that either the food is fabulous and the service is poor or vice versa. I can honestly say the food was spectacular and the service was extraordinary! The waiter knew everything and was very personable. We ordered the shrimp and pot stickers for appetizers - divine!! For the main course, we ordered the steaks - heavenly! Highly recommend this restaurant for either a group or just a romantic evening out."

  • "I had the New Orleans Trio, and the filet was very average in that meal, and not worth the $30. The andoullie sausage and shrimp were good but the filet was very average and I could have done better (and much cheaper) at home. My wife had the price fixe and ordered the beef brochette, and they too, were very average and very heavily soaked in wine, so it was not a good beef flavor. So average flavor/taste on the meat and very high cost, so just no where worth any sort of value. I don't mind as much when on the corporate account but when on the personal dime, it better be very good for the cost."

  • "We arrived earlier than our reservation and they accommodated us, provided a good table and good service. The waiter was always there when we needed him."

  • "The food was perfect. Higher prices but delectable and you get what you pay for. Service was perfect the night we dined. A great addition to the suburban dining scene."

  • "My husband & I have been to Eddie Merlot's many times and truly enjoy the food and service, which is why we brought my brother-in-law and sister-in-law there. While the food was outstanding, the service was terribly slow that night. I'm not sure why though it did take our server forever to take our orders for entrees and then for dessert. Not sure if she had too many tables that night. We sat down with a 6:15 pm reservation and thought we'd have plenty of time to make our 9:20 pm movie but were still sitting waiting for our credit card to be processed at 9:15 pm and had to have our desserts packed to go (because it took so long for them to be served). All in all, we'll still come back but hoping that 1 night was a quirk in terms of service."

  • "We were a party of 4 arriving on time for our reservation. Being told not would be a few minutes, we waited 20. Two members of our party ordered the boned in ribeye and found out it had been sold out. Had to settle for a different than a entree. It was good, but not what we wanted. The service was slow as it seemed we waited a long time. I was disappointed in the other experience."

  • "Have gone several times to Eddie Merlot in Warrenville. Every time was excellent in all regards. Unfortunately, this time the waitress was overwhelmed and didn't give us the best service. Fortunately, the manager cared for the matter and gave us dessert for our trouble. The management are very personable and attentive. They make sure that you have a pleasant dining experience."

  • "I had my first experience at Eddie Merlots in Columbus, Oh. My brother took us there for dinner. This was my first time in a high priced steakhouse. My wife and I were blown away by the service, the decor, and the fantastic food. For our anniversary, we decided to go to the Eddie Merlots nearest to us, which is an hour and a half away in Warrenville, IL. Sadly it didn't live up to expectation. While the decor is the same, the service was very slow (took over 20 minutes to get one beer to the table) and the food averaged "ok" at best. My steak was very underdone. I ordered the bone-in ribeye medium. The outside was medium, but as I got more towards center it went from pink to deep red. I would go back to Columbus, but not Warrenville."

  • "In the very competitive steak house Segment of the restaurant business Eddie Merlot is in the middle of the pact service Was spotty our server seemed nervous when asked if they had a mixologist on staff she said sort of she forgot to bring bread until half way through the meal and our entree took a while to get to the table however our chateaubriand was very good done perfectly good sides bottom line I would go back lastly it is a very comfortable and very we'll appointed restaurant overall A good experience."

  • "Wanted to spend time with someone special at a place that would convey my feelings appropriately Chose Eddie Merlot's and the Friday night Lobster special...............server was less than knowledgeable for such an establishment. Disappointing entre is about all I will say publicly............sides were outstanding Perhaps next time will be better, if there is one. ........."

  • "The staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. Liked having a French press at my table so that I could pour my own coffee. Plenty of choices on the menu. I had the steak salad and it was presented in a beautiful fashion."

  • "I've been going to Eddie Merlot's in Warrenville for my birthday since they opened and I love it! Especially the complementary red velvet cupcake. The restaurant is quiet and love the tall ceiling and the "cava" room on the main room. Food is amazing, they open for lunch as well so it is an excellent alternative to the overcrowded restaurants on Freedom Dr."

  • "The service from our wait staff was very good. However the food was decent but not outstanding. That said if you live in the Fox Valley/Naperville area and want to stay local then this is a good spot. But if you're willing to drive 15-20 minutes further East then I'd still recommend Gibson's in Oakbrook."

  • "The service at Eddie & Merlot - Warrenville was impeccable! Our waitress Leslie was absolutely the best! She was very knowledgeable about the wines, the food and hospitality in general. Great Dining experience overall."

  • "My wife and I went to EM's for our anniversary and the experience was great. It was on a slower night, but the service was over the top great and the food was amazing. The experience was so good, we'll probably only return on special occasions to keep the 'excitement' alive about eating here. I recommend the Filet rare....great piece of meat!"

  • "We had to wait a while to be seated with reservations but overall really enjoyed our meal there. The steaks were perfect, drinks were top shelf and the dessert was the best I've ever had. Unfortunately it's very pricey so we won't be back soon but certainly enjoyed it for Valentine's Day."

  • "A good restaurant survives, first and foremost, if the food is outstanding. During our visit, we experienced bursting flavors in our Sesame Calamari and rich decadent mouthfuls of Chilean Sea Bass Oscar. They have two wine lists, regular and reserved. We were delighted to find one of our favorite bottles on the reserved list. Merlot's is known for its steaks so we look forward to tasting them during our next visit. We also noticed outside seating, so this would be a great option for the summer."

  • "Was told we would have the best server, but waited 10 minutes to be greeted and 25 minutes to place a drink order. I have been to much busier establishments and I don't understand why it took so long to for everything. Even when there was only one other couple left, we waited to place our dessert order. Now, we all loved the food, but for what we paid, the service was sub-par. I don't think we will ever go back, BUT that was the best bone-in filet I have ever had."

  • "Had Vday reservations. Waited an hour. Ok I get that on a busy day. Was seated at a table that was add for the day, we were basicly sitting on the walk way to the bathrooms. Constant flow of people that had to walk around out table. Musice was so loud that the waiter could not hear us. Food was good until I got my steak. It was ice cold, not room tempeture but refrigerator cold. There is no way they cooked that steak when I ordered it. It had to be pre cooked and the forgot to warm it up. Wife was done eating before my meal came back out. Felt rushed by staff the whole time. No comp on the poor service. Out her tables around us seemed to be having issues as well."

  • "First time I've had Beef Carpaccio in like 30 years. It was superb. Got the bone in aged filet, medium rare. When I stuck my fork in it, it tried to run away. Everything was very very good! I'm a little peeved that I did not get a chocolate covered strawberry for my birthday though."

  • "Poor service - waitress forgot caeser salad was included with my entree. Had to ask for bread. Long wait for everything. No banana cream pie. Very expensive. There are much better restaurants for the money."

  • "We enjoy Eddie Merlot's because the food is always good (as good or better than some Naperville steak houses), and although it is a little pricey (especially the wine), it is not outrageous. Parking is ample and close. The staff is friendly and is becoming more and more professional."

  • "This was this most upscale restaurant I have ever been to. It was extremely expensive but the food was excellent. I would go back for an important occasion."

  • "Visit exceeded expectations. Can't beat the sophisticated bar or Chardonnay room ambiance (ask to sit by the cozy fireplace. Food good, attentive service better. Nice bar menu. Subtract 1 star for food quality/value."

  • "Had an excellent time at Eddie Merlot's the day after Valentines' Day. My wife and I ate at a table in the lounge. We were treated by all staff as honored guests. The burgers were excellent and we had a side of steam broccoli which was outstanding. Safe room for dessert they have several excellent selections. Service was very good. They also make an excellent martini and the serve a nice glass of wine. It is a satisfying and fun experience."

  • "Ambience wasnt too bad and our server, Carol Jean, was quite friendly and very sweet. My only complaint about our server is that she takes her time by each table she is serving with idle chit chat. We waited nearly 20 mins to give our drink order after being seated and given menus let alone our food order. My husband and I ordered fish dishes with veggies and it wasnt that good at all. Suppose to be grilled but the sea bass was very greasy and the grouper very sweet. The veggies served with both these fish dishes were just as greasy and salty. I found the grouper very tasty but the greasiness of the veggies that were served with too salty and so oily. They sure overkilled on the dressing. I highly doubt I will go back"

  • "This visit I took my wife for Valentin Day and tried something new. I usually get their burgers which are the best but for this occasion I tried the Trio Medallions. I must say that Eddie Merlots are THE BEST! We will surely be going back soon."

  • "On Valentines night, he food was good not great but good. My dish was filet, shrimp and sausage. It was a little cold, but tasted great. My wife had the sea bass, which half was excellant and the other half tasted a bit odd. They had musicians playing at the front of the house, the were a bit loud, and we were sitting almost to the wine cellar. I feel the server was spread a bit too thin that night. We had to wait for our drinks for 10 minutes each time. They just had too many covers with the staff on hand. All in all a solid B. We dine there regularly."

  • "My husband and I have wanted to try the Warrenville IL location since it opened. It was Valentines's Day weekend, so it was very busy. The service was good but a bit slow. The steaks were wonderful along with salads and dessert. I was on crutches and noticed how accommodating the staff was to assist with my chair, seating us in the main dining room vs the back room, etc. The atmosphere is warm, high ceilings but seemed a little "chain" restaurant. That would be the only downside. An added nicety was that I left a small make up purse on the table and they called to inform us they would keep it in the back safe until we were able to pick it up. We would recommend EM to others."
