  • "Very impressive restaurant. Beautifully decorated to provide the ambiance you would expect from a high-end restaurant. Food was wonderful and portions generous. Service was attentive, but not over done. My wife and I had the Châteaubriand for two. Done just right and very tasty. The Caesar salad was the best I have tasted and the portion was very generous. The S'mores dessert was unique and more than satisfied my sweet tooth. I would reserve this place for a special occasion dinner, given the price. Looking forward to visiting for lunch. A wonderful addition to the city's dinning scene"

  • "Honestly, I wasn't sure before going. So many great steak places - how could they be any better? It was really, really good. Great wine selection, great salad, great side dishes and our steaks were perfect. We were only disappointed that we were so full that we had no room for dessert - which looked fantastic. We joined the frequent member club and plan on going back again and again. Next time we might only order dessert."

  • "My husband and I tried Eddie Merlots for the first time this past week. The food and service were very good, however, I feel that it was missing the wow factor. The wine list was very extensive and they offered quite a few wines by the glass which was great for me because my husband does not drink wine. I had the filet and topped it with the bacon gorgonzola which was quite rich, cooked perfectly. My husband had the 14 oz bone in filet. It was a little rare close to the bone, but this can be expected. We had an appetizer, but no salads so I am not sure if this is why we did not receive any bread or if they do not serve bread? Overall, I think I may try out the Sunday night wine specials, but not somewhere I am rushing back for dinner."

Time between serving appetizers and the main entree was a little too long. The Bananas Foster desert was outstanding! View overlooking Liberty avenue was very pleasant. Will definitely go back."

  • "We had such a fantastic time! Tera, our server was amazing, engaging and knowledgable about everything. The food was great. We got the escargot and BBQ shrimp appetizers--both were delicious. We shared a chateaubriand for two dinner option with a choice of two sides: we chose the sautéed mushrooms and wasabi peas. The meat was excellent. The mushrooms were outstanding (seriously). The peas were alright--we'll choose something different next time. Finally, we ended dinner with a table side chocolate brownie which was boozy and oh so decadent. Our night was very impromptu and definitely over $200 with wines, but I would do it over in a heartbeat. My boyfriend and I had a blast. Thanks so much!!"

  • "We dined at the exquisite Eddie Merlot's on Saturday evening and had the most wonderful time. We were greeted warmly by our restaurant host, Larry and escorted to a lovely booth. All area's of the restaurant are decorated in the most tasteful elegant way, so there are no negative spaces. We looked upon the courtyard which is planted beautifully. Our waiter, Jeff was attentive, providing the best service. My husband said his grilled pork chop was the BEST he had ever eaten. My filet was done to perfection, as well. We will be back to dine again with friends! cmloev"

  • "My first trip to this new Pittsburgh location. Valet parking makes this downtown spot easily accessible. Beautiful looking restaurant and bar. We sat in the bar for an early dinner. She had a chopped salad and I had the wedge, both were fresh and well portioned. For dinner we had the tuna and the steamed crab claws. Both were simply prepared, delicious and exactly what we expected. We did not have dessert. Service was excellent. On our next visit, we will try the steaks."

  • "The resturant was beautiful. It reminded you of a Las Vegas resturant. The food was excellent, even the leftovers the next day were still as good. The only complaint was in my request for a table I had asked for a quite table with a view to celebrate my husband's birthday. They did not read it and sat us in the middle of the room then sat a table of 8 men next to us. It became very loud. As soon as we mentioned it to the waitress she sat us in another room & we were able to have our romantic evening there. We all loved the resturant & have recommend it to several of our friends!"

  • "Had a visitor in from Europe and decided to take him, his wife, my wife and another couple to dinner for a special evening. The service was great, but out of the six meals, two were not cooked correctly. Out of the four dinners that had steak as part of the meal, two of the steaks were so over cooked (not even close) that they needed to start again from scratch. Also when the brought out a coffee cup and spoon, they were dirty. I had heard great things about the place, but our meal was not worth the money and it was a big downer for the special occasion. I may try it again, but definitely will not go back on a Sunday evening--hoping they had rookies in the kitchen and washing the dishes that evening."

Although, the food was good, I had this high expectation that it was going to be above & beyond all the rest of the many steak houses in Pittsburgh. Our waitress was friendly, but the service wasn't outstanding. I had to ask 3x's for lemon for my ice water. Also, when they cleared our table, they had a large tray of leftover food & didn't know who's was who's & who wanted their food boxed. The bus boy had to ask "who's piece of steak is this?" And low & behold got it wrong, since I ended up getting a very small leftover portion of my friend's meal instead of my petit filet mignon. :(("

While my dining partner and I were not interested in ordering any of them most expensive beef items, (and, horrors!, we even had a coupon) we were never treated like second class citizens. Our entrees, from the Chef Selections, were generous, flavorful and unique. The staff was extremely attentive, accomodating and eager to please. We are looking forward to dining there again soon."

  • "The food we had was excellent. We split the filet trio and had creamed spinach and the Eddie merlot potatoes. I also had the caprese salad which was very fresh. While waiting for the rest of our party we waited in the bar. And waited. And waited. We sat at a high top table for 20 minutes after which I went up to the bar and asked the bar tender if there was service at the table. He immediately sent a server over. I'm thankful the bartender was on his game. After we put a drink and appetizer order in we did not see the waiter again to even order another drink or get water refills. Our waiter at the table was swearing so bad he was wiping his face with his sleeve. The waiter also drank leftover wine from the decanter at the next table."

  • "We were there for almost 2 hours. They supposedly burnt our 1st steaks. It was very noisy. When our dinners finally arrived, the steaks were still well done (we both ordered medium well). But they were still good. No one said anything for a while, but then the waiter and managers kept us informed. They were nice enough to buy us our drinks. We have been to the Fort Wayne, IN location a couple of times and didn't have any problems."

  • "This was our second time dining at Eddie Merlot's. The first time was impressive in regard to service & food. This time, however, service felt a bit disorganized. There was a moth in my wife's wine (which was quickly replaced, the wine not the moth) & there were broken pieces of pottery on the floor around our table. We attribute all this to an off day but Eddie Merlot's strives for an upscale dining experience & competition is stiff in the Pittsburgh steak house business."
