Diner Reviews
  • "This was our second visit to Eddie Merlot's. The steak was very good, though not better than Z's or Ruth's Chris or Jeff Ruby's. It's good that they stopped touting grass fed and prime beef in the same sentence. That's an oxymoron. The room is gorgeous."

  • "Beautiful restaurant, very good food. Our first time there, would try again & hope we get a different server. He was slow & we had to ask for bread 3 times & for drink refills. He waited until dessert was being served to tell me they were out of mine, even though I ordered it at the beginning with my meal. We missed the opening act of the concert that we were going to. Wish we would have told him beforehand that we didn't have over 2 hours for dinner :("

  • "My husband had the large filet and it was amazing, however my grouper was somewhat over-seared and a little tough. However our drinks, the salad, bread and macaroni and cheese were wonderful!"

  • "Eddie Merlot's delivers a great experience every time we visit. This time, we had a group of 9 for dinner before the Billy Joel concert. Everyone ordered a different entree and everyone was very satisfied. Tab ran right ay $100 per person including wine and tip."

  • "This was our second dining experience at Eddie Merlot's and were very pleased. We were promptly greeted at the front and are car was valet parked. The Hostess quickly seated us and we were waiter greeted us within seconds. Everything we ordered came out in a timely manner. The food was prepared to perfection and we even received a special desert for our anniversary. The price range of our dinners were in line with what was presented on the website. Overall, it was a great experience and we left completely satisfied and will return in the future."

  • "Eddie Merlot's is outstanding! Is by far some of the best food in town! The service is unmatched, and the valet are excellent as well. I would recommend Eddie Merlots to anyone who loves the best food and best service!"

  • "Great food as always. Service was under par this visit. Server possibly had too many tables to cover."

  • "We discovered Eddie Merlot's a few months ago. Almost every time we go we have an issue usually with the temperature of steak . This time my wife ordered the truffle butter with her filet. They brought out her filet with peppercorn sauce. This has happened one other time at Eddie Merlot's in Lincolnshire. Oops. They took the steak back and within a few minutes brought out a lukewarm steak with a glob of truffle butter on top. She thinks they may have washed off the peppercorn sauce and added the truffle butter. We do love their chopped salad. We have decided we are not going to patronize Eddie Merlot's again whether in Louisville or Lincolnshire."

  • "My third time at this location and it was great. Your steaks are the best I've had in any restaurant. The service was second to none. Thank you and I will be back."

  • "Our waitress for our table was way too busy . She had too many tables. We were celebrating ,and we should not have to tell our waitress to fill up our glasses ."

  • "We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the atmosphere. Our waitstaff was very attentive and helpful. There is a nice variety of choices on the menu. Portions are great. Food was divine. The only snafu was the coffee with dessert arrived with many coffee grounds in it from the French press. The next pot was cold, but the third pot was perfect. The waitstaff were very helpful in making sure the coffee situation was corrected. There was a convention in town, so the restaurant was busy despite being mid-week. In spite of the busy restaurant service was impeccable! Loved the atmosphere.......very romantic in an Art Deco kind of way! We felt pampered"

  • "I travel on business almost every week and have experienced some of the finest restaurants in Midwest, and the Wagyu Ribeye at Eddie Merlot's is now firmly in my Top 3 of all time steaks."

  • "Our server, Matt, was the perfect server and the food was better than anything I have ever had at any of the other "steakhouses" in Louisville. The steaks are not over over seasoned, like Ruths Chris. The Eddies potatoes were the perfect flavor. They were somewhat busy, but still not noisy. My wife and I had a wonderful, relaxing and fun date night out! The wine list was extensive and their wine rooms were impressive! I will return and you should visit as well so you know what a real steakhouse offers!"

  • "We felt this place had a super high quality reputation and were let down. Steak was good but nothing we couldn't get somewhere else. My grouper was dry and had little flavor. When I told the manager he offered to get another one and basically told me I had made the wrong choice. The lobster Mac and cheese seemed like it had been sitting under a warmer too long. Best part of the meal: ahi tuna appetizer and carrot cake dessert."

  • "The decor is stunning - mosaic art pieces surround you. Staff is attentive and knowledgable but not overbearing. The food is beautifully presented, portions are ample (this is the South!), and delectable! I chose the table d'hôte - everything was perfect. The croutons in the caesar's salad were the lightest I have ever tasted. The chicken was nicely flavoured (not overly salty) and cooked to absolute perfection. Nice wine list."

  • "Our first time to this restaurant. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great for conversation and the cocktails were fabulous! The only things that I would have expected was the food and it's quality to be outstanding as well, but it wasn't anything outstanding. The sides we ordered were the broccoli, brussel sprouts and they were just average. The lobster macorini was very impressive. I would order that again. I ordered the fillet 7oz, and it really was not what I expected. I ordered it medium rare and it was pink, but not juicy. The flavor was ok but it really was not worth the price. It is expensive to eat here."

  • "We love this place, we were undecided on where to go Saturday night and a couple of other choices were full. We didn't really feel as though we were dressed for Eddie's but they had availability for the time we needed so we were welcomed and found that the dress was split between a little dressy and casual. Food was delicious as always, tried the Lobster Mac & Cheese for the first time and it was awesome."

  • "While very pricey, the food and service were second to none. The steak and salmon are unbelievable. If you can get over the price it is well worth a visit."

  • "The service from the wait staff and the attention from numerous managers was phenominal. The elegance of the table setting, the fixtures, and lighting were beautiful. The food was prepared wonderfully and the french coffee press created a divine cup of coffee."

  • "They were out of several dishes that we ordered, so we were a little disappointed at first but they made a remarkable recovery with outstanding service and mouth-watering food. The Steak Diane was melt-in-your-mouth tender and delicious and I highly recommend it. The sweet potato casserole was a crowd favorite at the table, as well. We have been several times and this is definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville."

  • "For the cost, was very overrated. The waitress didn't know things on the menu, the food was warm at best when it arrived. The drinks were very well prepared. The appetizer did not disappoint, the crab cakes were great. Overall was somewhat a disappointment."

  • "Gary, our server, was attentive and professional ... the rest of the server staff was also top-notch.. Food - steaks - perfect... Loved the Oscar topping!"

  • "We have eaten there a few times and have always received excellent service. The food was good and they have more than one vegetarian option which is not always the case at upscale restaurants. We will return."

  • "For the price my steak was not cooked correctly. The 1st half was cooked medium which I ordered, but 2nd half was more medium well. No pink at all. My steak at Texas Roadhouse was better. 1st bowl of mashed potatoes was hard and cold. Forgot my oscar on steak. Had to bring separate. About a 40 minute window between salads and entree. For the price I would not return."

  • "I had some very important work clients visitng Louisville, and had heard that this restaurant was amazing. So I made the reservations hoping that what I heard was accurate, since I had never dined here myself (until that night). I was very impressed, and so were my clients, about the overall atmosphere and excellent food. Everything we ordered was amazing, and perfectly cooked. I will definitely be back, and will recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone."

  • "Everything was as I expected. Very Good. Only one bad food choice. Trout was fried and it did not say so on menu. All other food was great."

  • "Had wonderful dinner with my colleague and boss. Food was outstanding. I had the filet and the other two also had steak. The service was attentive without being overt. I will be coming back to this location. The bar is really nice and has plenty of room to mingle. The night we went (Thursday night), the restaurant wasn't packed, but it wasn't empty either. There were several groups, many looked to be working dinners."

The service was exceptional and the food was outstanding. My wife and I had a wonderful and enjoyable experience."

  • "I have been going to Eddies for the past 5 Valentines with my loved one and they make it so special every time. the service is out of this world, the food is just as good, and the price is right on par for what you get. Last year the managers walked around giving each couple a $25 gift card, which made the night even more special, but opted out to not do it this year, which to be honest was a let down after receiving it last year since it kind of makes you expect it in a way...but regardless it is always my fave special occasion restaurant and I also love to go during lunch as well."

  • "Only issue was they were out of a wine and food order that one of my friends went to order, disappointing. Overall great dinner."

  • "Lovely atmosphere but disappointing food for the price. Service was good but would expect that. I ordered a filet mignon, hash browns and mushrooms. Waffle House has better hash browns and Outback has a better steak. Eddie Merlots is no competition for Jeff Ruby's or Ruth Chris. Very disappointed."

  • "Atmosphere was great, good was good. Service was very poor. Un-attentive server, manager finally took our wine order. The server never once refilled glasses. Much too much time between the appetizer order and the Main course order. Highly disappointed in the lack of attentiveness. For the upscale cost of this restaurant I truly expected better service."

  • "A group of 4 visited at 7pm and we all were disappointed with the food and service. All 4 of our steaks were overcooked, the mashed potatoes came to our table cold, the macaroni and cheese was dry and the brussels sprouts had little flavor. The shrimp appetizer we had was great and the salads were fair. The spinach salad left much to be desired. The wines were overpriced. The server, who admitted that he wasn't very busy, left us for long periods. One person had to ask 3 times for the drink he ordered. The assistant cleared our bread plates along with a few of our forks and one person had to wait to eat his entree because he had no fork. We used the valet and had to wait for quite a while (~10 mins) to get our cars returned. Won't return."

  • "My husband go here for every anniversary and big birthday and it absolutely never disappoints. Don't skip the appetizer because they are all amazing. If you tell them it is your anniversary they usually do something special for you."
