  • "This was our first time at Eddies. A friend of ours recommend it. We asked if they are kid friendly, ours are 8 and 10. We called ahead for some wine and appetizers to be on table as a surprise for my husband. Our server picked two great appitizers and a great wine. My husband and I both enjoyed the bone in Filet. Kids had a kids filet with a great helping if mashed potatoes. Service and dinner was right on! Our server Brandi came out with a very tasty birthday cupcake for my husband ! Kids ordered ice cream ! Overall we would defiantly go back! From the point we came in to walking out we enjoyed it all. Would of stayed for the live music in lounge, but next time when we are kid-less!!"

  • "I took my girlfriend here on a fancy date and it was amazing. I made a reservation, but it was fairly empty at 6:30 pm and we were seated immediately. It started to really fill up around 7 pm. I ordered the Beef en Brochette on the 3 course meal that is available until mid-April and even though I asked for medium, it was very rare, but it was delicious none-the-less and I cleaned the plate. The portion size was very good and that helped make the dinner price worth while. Dinner at Eddie Merlot's is pricey and you should expect to spend at least $70 for dinner for two."

  • "I am so glad that this restaurant opened up in a location that has been jinxed for years (Cucina Roma, Infinity, etc)... the ambiance is perfect. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights and the servers are all professional, courteous and on their game. The rock shrimp and ahi tuna wontons are delicious appetizers. Their french onion soup is one of my favorites! I love their chopped salad and sesame ahi tuna entree is amazing as well. Go for the berry dessert for 2. You will not want to miss this awesome place! If you are worried about price, they have a lounge menu to accommodate a smaller budget but the same delightful/romantic atmosphere. Thanks Eddie Merlot's!"

  • "My wife and I responded to an advertisement in the mail to go to Eddie Merlot's. It was Friday lobster night and we went as a special occasion. Everything was excellent, especially the service, and desert was awesome. We wouldn't be able to go very often, as it is expensive and everything a la carte, but worth the occasional trip."

  • "We had a delicious dinner at Eddie Merlots as we always do. Service is impeccable. The wine list is long and thy even brought out a tasting of two wines when I couldn't choose between them. Dinner is very expensive and I dislike that all sides are a la carte as it seems wrong to get a steak on an otherwise empty plate for $45. Besides that, we enjoyed ourselves and would go again."

  • "We went out for lobster feast and it was amazing! My husband went with the steak Trio to do our own surf and turf. (Our server suggested it) We had a question on wine our server (Brandi) had the manager (Tim) make a great suggestion! Overall from the time we came in and sat down to the time we left we couldn't of been happier! We were stuffed but saved room for the wonderful table side cooked Berries!! We will be back very soon for another great dinner! Can't wait for the outdoor patio to open! It looks amazing!!"

  • "Truly, the best restaurant in Lake County IL!!!! Food is phenomenal, service is phenomenal, mgmt is phenomenal and the atmosphere is lovely! Pam is, hands-down, the best server I have ever had at any restaurant anywhere! She is highly attentive but just the right amount based on the occasion. Whether we came for our anniversary or with a group of friends, she was spot-on. We've also enjoyed the service of Niko and Brandy; both excellent, friendly and highly attentive. This restaurant isn't just a nice restaurant, it's a nice restaurant with a huge emphasis on customer service. My husband and I absolutely LOVE Eddie Merlot's!!!"

  • "The appetizers were great, Sweet and Spicy Rock Shrimp was the best and it could be a meal by itself, Ahi Tuna Wonton and Lobster Bisque were good too. For the main course, we had Beef Bourguignon, Pecan Crusted Trout and Cedar-plank Salmon. The salmon was a little plain. For dessert we tried 4 different things, the 5 of us ended up all fighting for the rasberry sorbet."

  • "If I could rate the bar service alone, that would be much higher. Dinner service left a lot to be desired, again for the cost. Food was reasonable, but not as good as it should be for the price. We waited a LONG time for drinks and appetizers. They didn't clear cocktail glasses unless asked. At some point, the gentlemen in our group stacked their empty wine glasses to get the attention of the waitstaff. When spending $70 to $100 on a few bottles of wine, I would have thought they'd get it to us in a timely fashion. Calamari was rubbery, oysters were fine. The men said the steak was good, I had the trout which was tasty. Again, when spending $250 per couple for a table of 8, the service needs to be much better."

  • "I went to the restaurant with my wife for a date night... kind of... We reserved a table, even when I should say the restaurant weren't that crowded. They were expecting us, and sit us immediately. Our server came over and gave us some suggestions about the drinks and about the food (they were spot on). Her name is Brittany (I think)... Food flowed very well in terms of the timeliness. We weren't interrupted continually (like in other restaurants in the area), so we enjoyed both, the food and the company of each other. Price wise, I would say this place is in the pricey side, but it totally worth it. So, if you want good food, good service, and have a wonderful evening... this is a restaurant to consider."

  • "Excellent food and service as usual, and beautiful ambience. My husband and I both had a filet, medium rare and they were done perfectly and extremely tender. The sweet potato casserole is "to die for", we ordered an extra portion to take home. Our server Nicolas was excellent and the manager, Kent was very attentive. He came around several times to be sure everything was good and to our liking and to see if he could help in any way."

  • "Went there for Valentines dinner and the food was very good. I had read reviews about the lack of service but I have to say I had wonderful service and never once had any problems with it. My only issue was how close the tables were to each other. Other then that everything was very good. We got steak and it was very good, they were able to put a parmesan topping on it for us that wasn't on the menu. Their mashed potatoes were amazing. We shared the chocolate caramel cake which was big enough for the both of us and that was very yummy. I would go back again."

  • "With all the great steakhouse choices on Milwaukee Ave between Wheeling and Libertyville, Eddie Merlot's needs to up its game. We have been to this location three times since they opened and have left underwhelmed each time. We prefer Wildfire for a casual steakhouse night out and Fleming's for an upscale experience; we wish a Capital Grille was closer. Service is mediocre and my steak was overdone. Apps were great and dessert was good. The place does have a 'reasonably' priced wine list relative to Fleming's. I was hoping for better as I've been to the Louisville location and really enjoyed it. While Eddie's has a lot of room…Fleming's, Sullivan's, Wildfire, Pete Miller's, and The Tavern always book up before this place…I understand why."

  • "This was the second time we tried Eddie Merlot's. We will not be running back. My husband ordered a NY strip. His was good, over an inch thick, warm red middle (ordered medium), smokey taste to steak, perfectly pepper corned. I ordered a rib eye. Very disappointed. When you order a $34 choice steak, you expect it to be at the minimum 3/4" thick. I got a 14oz. steak that was at most 1/3" thick. I felt like I was at Outbacks. It was cooked medium rare, but it was so thin you could barely tell. The rest of the food was fine. Service was excellent!!!!"

  • "Excellent steaks. The filet melts in your mouth. I ordered it medium rare and it was perfectly prepared. Eddie's potatoes were good but I would get a baked potato or garlic mashed potatoes to better compliment the steak. The caesar salad was great. The carrot cake for dessert was enough for 4 and was exceptional. Wine list was was very good and the service was very good as well."

  • "Eddie Merlot's is a super nice restaurant with one drawback. They've raised prices again and in my opinion, pricing themselves out of the market. We've been there at least 10 times and it seems the prices go up and the amount of people eating there is going down. I'm sure it's because of the prices. Wines that were $50 and $40 a bottle are now $55 and $44. Drinks are as expensive as if you were in a downtown Chicago spot but I think the clientele in Lincolnshire is not comfortable spending that type of money on dinner. In all, we used to figure dinner at $75 per person and now if you go to Merlot's, the new normal is $100 each. We'll still go there, just not as often."

  • "This was our first time visiting Eddie Merlot's. We went on Valentine's Day and the restaurant and staff was certainly well prepared for this special day. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Our server, Brandi, was delightful and extremely pleasant and helpful. Waitstaff was very attentive. The manager even came by to ask us how our wine was, and then gave us a $25 gift card for our next visit! We ordered oysters for an appetizer. They were very fresh, and quite delicious. I ordered the dry aged bone-in ribeye and she ordered the New Orleans platter. only downside is that I ordered my steak medium and it came out medium-rare, I don't mind either temperature, so no big deal. overall, a great experience"

  • "I was looking for a new over the top spot to take my wife for Valentine's Day without heading into the city. A friend of mine told me I had to try Eddie Merlot's. We did and the entire evening was the best ever. Valet parking attendants held the restaurant door open for us. Hostesses (4 of them) greeted us with amazing smiles and a warm welcome. The service was impeccable and detailed to the fullest. My wife went to the restroom and a server came by the table and folded her napkin neatly. A manager came by and carved our Chateaubriand personally. At the end of dinner we texted the valet and our car was at the front door waiting for us to depart. That was pretty cool."

  • "I have dined all over the world and after dining at Eddie's, I'm not sure that I have had a better experience. The room was beautiful, warm and had great energy. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The staff was sincere, diligent and on the mark. The management was very apparent, I saw four managers circulating, greeting tables and assisting their staff the duration of our dinner.(our table was touched three different times) I felt as though our every need was taken care of with a warm sense of urgency. Great Restaurant and wonderful time!"

  • "First let me say we enjoy Eddie Merlot''s and eat there frequently. For Valentines Day we took two other couples and really talked up the experience. As usual, the food was good, but the rest of the experience was disappointing. 1) We waited one hour to be seated however; we had a reservation. The host commented "you should expect to wait on Valentines day". 2) Once seated, it took another 30 mins for our server to take our drink orders. 3) Our server was working hard, but was totally overwhelmed. Our group watched as the managers stood around and talked. We all thought they would have jumped in to help. From start to finish, it took 4 hours. In summary, we love Eddie's and will go back."

  • "Ambience was excellent, but our very knowledgeable and cordial server seemed stretched beyond reasonable limits. There appeared to be more hostesses and 'bread ladies' than servers. The wine list was great, but the cuisine was grossly disappointing for what is advertised as a high end (and very expensive) establishment. The 'special' beef bourguignon tasted like unseasoned pot roast and the cedar plank salmon, per the chef served 'medium' was mostly sushi raw. I could not recommend this restaurant to friends."
