  • "Eddie Merlot's never fails to impress. We went to celebrate my wife's recent (year redacted) birthday, and as always, the restaurant was top notch. The steaks were delicious and rival anything Ruth's Chris offers. The ambiance was mellow yet not boring. The sides and dessert were also very good. Considering its price point as a high end steak and wine restaurant, Eddie Merlot's stacks up quite well against the competition."

  • "Not what it used to be. The sides were awful. The creamed spinach was a globby mess and the Eddie's potatoes were more like a soup with cubes of potatoes and semi-melted cheese. The salmon was fatty and had no flavor. Not worth the price, I'll go to Flemings instead."

  • "My wife and I dined ther for the third time and invited one of our good friends to come with as she had not experienced Eddie before. We had a fantastic slad followed by one ribeye and two fillet steaks. My wife normally has her steak butterflied and well done while I like mine medium rare. All three of our steaks were perfectly prepared and very tasty. We will return again and will recommend this place to others."

  • "This was my second time dining at Eddie Merlot. The waiter we had was just ok. He paid more attention to the table of five next to us. Now, the issue I had was with the food. I frequently dine at Peterson's, Ocean Prime, Sullivan's or Ruth Chris, so I am familiar with fine dining. The food was no better than Outback Steakhouse. The Bourbon Ribeye reminded me of the Bourbon chicken that you can get at a chinese restaurant - it was terrible. The au gratin style potatoes was aweful. I barely ate any of it and the waiter did not even inquire. The apple bread pudding was not good either - it was soggy - I have made better at home. I will not dine at this restaurant again. I prefer Ruth Chris or Ocean Prime over this place."

  • "This was our second time to Eddie Merlot's in four months, and both times the overall service was just ok. Perhaps we have too high of expectations? Examples of our disappointments include: having to ask more than once to get a lemon slice for my wife's water; having to wait numerous times for our waters to be refilled; having to proactively ask for bread to be brought to the table; etc. To be fair, once the manager visited our table and learned of our concerns, he insured that our service improved. In addition, our waiter provided us free dessert to help remedy our visit. Although the food is good, I would expect the service to match the cost of the meal."

  • "We're pretty particular when it comes to food. We love cooking at home and do it well. This is the restaurant we frequent more often than any in the area. It is always a great experience from the food to the service. It's expensive, but belonging to their Platinum Club brings valuable coupons and specials every month. I would not feel it a good value at full price, but they keep bringing us back with the specials and we have never been disappointed with the experience or the value. Their Lounge menu is also very good; we especially like the cheese board. Their Marketing people know their stuff. When we make a reservation, they look up our record and greet us by name, and the server warmly welcomes us back. it's a nice touch."

  • "We have been to Eddie Merlot's several times and the food is always very good. The crab cakes are excellent and my husband really enjoyed the New York Strip. I usually get the stuffed shrimp which is awesome, but thought I would try something different so I went with the Mixed Grill which was okay except for the garlic mashed potatoes they were excellent. We will visit again."

The restaurant was not crowded and he was handling only 3 tables. He was possibly a bit new and did not know all the ropes yet. Other than that, we enjoyed our evening."

  • "Really enjoyed myself, just wish I got to sit in the main dining room like I requested in my reservation. Instead I got stuck in the lounge next to a table of 10 clearly intoxicated people who were cursing and yelling the whole dinner. Our waiter did comp us a dessert to apologize, which was a great gesture. That aside, amazing food and wine. Will be back for sure"

Our servers were wonderful and the food came out in a timely manor. My only complaint is that it always takes awhile to get drinks from the bar."

In addition, they no longer offer an all u can eat option. I would of rather paid a little more, but kept the special intact!"

For the price, there many other choices (Ocean Prime, Ruth's Chris, Prime 47) that have similar prices with much better service, decor and ambience. Overall experience was just average and for the price, we expected much more than average. Lobster Mac for $19 was a joke. Very little lobster. Steaks were excellent. Shrimp and andouille sausage on the New Orleans plate ordered by our daughter was over cooked. Service was very canned in responses and actions. The final straw was at the end of the dinner, the sales pitch on the EM Platinum frequent shopper card. Really? They want to cheapen the experience with a frequent shopper program after paying $230 for dinner for 3?"

  • "It was our first trip to Eddie's. We had heard great things and it lived up to the expectations! We originally went for the Northside Nights menu but there were so many other specials that my husband ordered straight from the menu and I ordered from the Northside Nights menu. We had an amazing waiter that explained everything to us, offered suggestions, and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions. Portions were large and we left very happy and full!"

On Sundays the half price wines are an additional incentive. At this time the restaurant is also offering two substantial menus for a paltry $33! Attentive service just rounds out the experience.   • "I can't complain, we knew it was expensive dining, that's why we went during Northside Nights to sample it without going broke! Even then, we spent far more than usual. The cup of French Onion soup was very tasty as was the cup of Lobster Bisque which includes chunks of lobster, not just lobster flavor. We both had prime rib and while it was cooked as requested, warm pink center, I think we got the less expensive cut that includes a good portion of gristle. The gravy had a nice flavor and consistency without being too salty. The Crème Brule was very good but I've had better. The Red Velvet Cupcake was very good with an indulgent amount of frosting. For $30 each I expect higher quality meat. First rate service. Go for it if you can afford it"
