Diner Reviews
  • "A friend asked that I meet him for dinner at EM. I didn't want to go red meet so I tried the waiter's suggestion of sea bass "oscar" style. It really was fantastic!"

  • "Other than the fact that they lost our reservation and then labeled us a no-show, they were as good as ever with the exception that Vittorio has left and there is no one to tie things together anymore so little things like getting the reservations straight are being lost."

  • "great food, great wine, great night, but service was terrible. Long waits for drink, wine and dinner."

  • "After being seated, a server didn't stop by our table for over 15 mins. When we did have server could tell he was either overwhelmed, inexperienced or just not competent. Saw server 4 times in course of over 2 hr seating. Other servers brought items etc. For high end restaurant and prices, one comes to expect a high level of service. I've had better service experiences at cheaper chain restaurants. Food was decent but overall experience soured the whole evening. Never once saw a manager engage any patrons nor did one ever stop by. One manager type (perhaps food runner manager) seemed to always be joking around with servers but never actually focusing on customers. In future will take our business elsewhere. Too many better options exist"

  • "Delicious filets! Fine dining for a special occasion."

  • "My wife and I dined at Eddie Merlot's on recommendation of a friend who lives in Columbus. Great service and a nice atmosphere. The half moon table was very enjoyable. Good drinks and wine selection. However, the onion soup was average at best, and the pork chop was extremely dry, tough, and almost impossible to cut. The dessert was excellent."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary in Columbus and had eaten at various restaurants in the past. Never at Eddie Merlot's. We decided to give it a try on a Sunday night. We got there a bit early and it not very crowded. We decided to try the bar before being seated. Great bartender who advised of a wine special. Helped select the wine which turned out to be one of the best we've had. After being seated the service was very attentive. Our meals were prepared exactly as ordered. I'm glad we found this gem, and am looking forward to our next trip to Columbus. Certainly will chose this restaurant again."

  • "Wonderful ambience, attentive and helpful service, excellent food and wine."

  • "I recently took my fiance to Eddie Merlot's to celebrate his 55th Birthday. Where the food was very good, I have never sat in a worst seat in my life! We are both tall individuals and we could barely reach our food from the barrel-like seats! It was really hard to enjoy our $200.00 meal when you are so uncomfortable and so far away from your food! What was to be a very special evening, turned out to be a big disappointment!"

  • "The food was prepared to perfection, the service was attentive and engaging. The only drawback was that the incredible din from the roomful of yelling boors made it impossible to have a conversation and severely impacted the atmosphere."

  • "We've been coming to Eddie Merlot's for our anniversary every year and each year it gets better. The service and staff are excellent. It isn't just dinner, it's a dining experience."

  • "My husband and I shared the châteaubriand special. It was excellent. The Calamari were cut into big pieces, and were nice & tender. The service was friendly and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was upscale. Great place for a special occasion."

  • "My girlfriend and I went Eddie Merlot's for her birthday dinner. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted promptly and brightly and made to feel like guests. The bar staff was wonderful while we waited for our table. Our table server was very professional and knowledgeable and knew when to take our orders and timed the courses perfectly. The steaks were absolutely delicious. Tender and very flavorful. The creme brulee for dessert was outstanding."

  • "I never have had a bad experience at Eddie's. I was meeting with a business colleague, and we had a great meal and yet never felt interrupted while meeting. The service was perfectly timed. While I am a freak for Rhone's, we had the Conn Creek Anthology. Great bottle at a restaurant price. They have great private group rooms, and accommodated a large party near us (maybe 15 people) yet we never really seemed to hear that group."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary at Eddie Merlot's on July 18th. We had a wonderful experience. The staff was attentive and some of the nicest people we have ever had serve us. The food was excellent. The evening was one we will not forget. Whether having a special occasion or just a quiet dinner for two, I cannot think of a better place to have it than Eddie Merlot's."

  • "I must say me and my wife frequent many upscale restaurants. This is one of the best. Our steaks were tender and my wife loved the barbeque shrimp. The salads were delicious and the bowls that the salads were served in was very different. Loved the ambiance, it was quiet, and the service was impeccable. We will be back! I have already recommended this restaurant to family and friends."

  • "The food was delicious and well prepared. Thomas, our server, was friendly and informative. The background jazz music was pleasing. Overall, Eddie Merlot's never disappoints and is a wonderful restaurant and the art work and decor always pleasing to the eye."

  • "I was really impressed by the food and service. We look forward to coming again for another special occasion. Thank you for making our 5 year anniversary memorable."

  • "Eddie Merlot's was a wonderful experience! Not only was our waiter knowledgeable of everything available at Merlot's, he was also knowledgeable about food/beverages, in general. The fact that Eddie Merlot's can create a baked Alaska (given advanced notice) is amazing as I have spent several years searching for a place that served this. Our appetizers and dinners were exquisite along with well timed. The Bananas Fosters served with table side preparation put our experience OVER THE TOP! This is not my first time going as the last time was just as wonderful. However, their consistency in creating a fine dining experience again and again places them in the 5 star category for me! Thank you so much for making our anniversary excellent!"

  • "Have enjoyed dining experience at Eddie Merlot's now for third or fourth time and have never been disappointed. Servers have always been especially pleasant, cordial, attentive and accommodating. The only "mild" criticism I might have this last time is that the waiter removed our butter plate before we were finished with the bread - but I do know they're trained to keep tables as clear as possible. There's an overabundance of dining options where we live, so we reserve Eddie Merlot's for the most special of occasions."

  • "Place you must visit. Great for that special occasion"

  • "Four of us were in for dinner Saturday night. We started with the 6 item charcuterie for the table. The roquefort was amazing, as was the duck proscuitto and the other items we selected. The bacon jam was delicious too! We opted to choose from the chef's selections and the $89 two dinner and a bottle of wine special. The Merlot that came with the special was nice, and the selected 7 ounce filet mignons were cooked perfectly. The caesar salads that started each meal were served with a light splash of dressing, so the romaine leaves weren't swimming in dressing like other places. The other two ordered off the menu, enjoying the pork chop. WOW! Each pork chop could have fed a family of four! We enjoyed our leftovers the next day!"

  • "We were seated and the place was not crowded at all. A family come in they sat them very close to us and the kids were noisy. This is not exactly a kids restaurant with minimum $30 entrees. I was not happy about it and said so, but was not going to move in the middle of dinner. The hostess should be aware of these situations and seat accordingly..."

  • "We had a terrific dinner at Eddie Merlot's on our anniversary. This is one of only restaurants that we can order our favorite beef entree-chateaubriand for two. It is OUTSTANDING! The service is perfectly balanced between attentive and privacy. The managers are very visible and actively padticipate in your service. The tempura beans (green) are a creative side dish, and the potato choices are also varied. We split a salad with no extra plating charge. We highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or a group dinner!"

  • "The food and service are outstanding, but you definitely pay for it. We have had comparable meals for less money, but this was a milestone anniversary so were willing to splurge."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Yea it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. We love this restaurant to relax. The bar is beautiful. The wine list goes on and on. However the house wine is very good and priced right. Eddie's is as close as we can come in Columbus to New York, Philiy, or Boston dining."

  • "Eddie Merlot's restaurant in Columbus, Ohio is an excellent venue for superb steak & seafood dining. The location is easy to access, the service is very good and ambiance attractive. Highly recommended for any dining."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Split an appetizer of filet mignon potstickers with my wife. Excellent, and whet the appetite just enough. I always try the bread, and E/M's was warm but not hot and very good. For dinner, I had the three medallions, one with peppercorn sauce, one "Oscar" style, and one with gorgonzola cheese with a bit of bacon. I've had filets in many places; this was the very best I can recall. My wife had the 7 ounce filet. It was (she said) excellent, but it was odd that the beef was the ONLY thing on her plate. 7 ounces, done medium rare, doesn't take up much space. In short, it looked...lonely. Sides were good. Noise was a bit much--birthday party with 12 people nearby. Conclusion: truly great food. Very expensive. Once a year treat."

  • "We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Eddie Merlot's. The food was excellent and the service was top=notch. I was a wonderful evening, that made our special occasion even more memorable. Our steaks were melt-in-your-mouth tender and delicious."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "We went to Eddie Merlots for our 25th wedding anniversary dinner, just the two of us, and our server, Monica, made the night. She was delightful, attentive but not hovering, very knowledgeable, and made us feel both special and like old friends. She's a gem! Dinner was delicious, our red velvet cupcake was divine, and we thoroughly loved every minute of our visit."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Our food was great - we had steaks, calamari, broccoli and potatoes. However, service was slow, we were there for 2.5 hrs for 2 people. I believe it was the kitchen, not the waiter, this has happened to is before there."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Great spot for any occasion! Sat in bar area and enjoyed drink specials and appetizers I will definitely be back :)"
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Our experience at Eddie Merlot was fairly quiet and enjoyable until they seated a large group of women right in the middle of the room. Immediately the noise level skyrocketed and it became like a noisy bar. Surely they have a separate area where they can put groups rather than ruin the peaceful atmosphere for the rest of the diners. It put a disappointing end on an otherwise lovely evening."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "The atmosphere is second to none, the service was extraordinary, and the food was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back many times!"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "I have dined here twice since it opened and both times the service and ambiance are very low. It was 5 years since I last dined here because of my poor visit the first. My wife talked me into a 2nd chance. There will not be a 3rd."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "6 different onions in onion soup; unique! Chef specialties was a nice alternative on the menu."

  • "Steak not cooked right, potatoes and onion straws cold. Martini was good."

  • "Had a lovely evening overall. Server needed more experience. He served the gentleman first on everything and should be informed ladies firsdt. Otherwise all was good Chairs in bar area were requested, however sit very low for dining. I had requested this area. Had to sit on 2 pillows to be able to eat comfortably."

  • "I'm often asked where to take clients for the best food in Columbus. Some say Ruth Chris or Hyde Park but my suggestion is Eddie Merlots hands down they have the best of everything."
