We were up enjoying the fall foliage & our anniversary. After reading the numerous favorable reviews, we made reservations a few days in advance. The restaurant was quite busy and our server did her best, given how many tables she had. People that came if after us, got their food well before us. My husbands dessert order was wrong. He had to wait quite a while before his correct order came out. By then we had all finished our desserts & he was left eating alone on our anniversary. Our coffees were also finished before any desserts arrived and the server never offered a refill. Lastly, the children's menu was very expensive. Everything on was an extra charge including dessert. Overall, I don't think we'll be back.

The dining room is set up for large groups, or for a quiet meal for two. The greeter, and waitress were very friendly. I was impressed by the greeter who brought us to the table as I am a large women, and as I walked through the room I noticed the chairs had sides to them. I became worried but she asked in a very quiet understanding way if I would like a straighter chair. I have a bad back and told her a straight back chair would be helpful. She saved me from much embarrassment. Our waitress was very sweet and friendly, like a friend you haven't seen for awhile. The view was beautiful as we were put at the large window table. The choice of food was very good, and the meal a very delicious event. We will definitely recommend the Eclipse!

Server, Chris, was very prompt, friendly, and able to have a nice conversation with us. Food arrived promptly--my wife and I both had table d'hote, 3 courses for 39.99. Quality of food was outstanding, good selection of wine. Only complaint was that my wife wanted to order the squash ravioli, but our server didn't let us know the kitchen was out of this dish until she tried to order.

Tried to make a reservation by phone, waited 15 min. But still no answer. Since I was in town, the clerk in the store, offered to reserve on line, for me. Very kind of him, but rather embarrassing for me. I have experienced long waits ,many times. There is absolutely no reason for Deerhust ,to let a client wait on the phone.

My husband and I went there with my son (6 years old) my sister, my brother in law, and nephew (5 years old) for our 10th wedding anniversary. They elected to have the buffet, which they said was excellent and had variety of choices that you wouldn't normally find on a buffet. My husband and I ordered off the menu which was simple, however the food was fantastic! My husband was very taken with his cream of asparagus soup and steak and I had a chicken dish which was cooked perfectly. The presentation was also wonderful. This restaurant is also kid friendly which was obviously important to us. Since there was a buffet it was a bit noisy but that didn't bother us. The wine list is also half decent.

Food quality approached mediocrity. Restaurant was advertised as a higher end restaurant. It was not. Too many loud groups and children! It was far closer to a "Roadhouse" than "Fine Dining". This was one of the many unfortunate shortcuts that the new Deer Hurst Management is taking. The consequence is a general lower standard of service.

I wrote a request for a dairy free, gluton free food option and did not receive a response. When I showed up for my reservation there was no options available. I did suggest at least a dairy free soup in original request but none was available . Very disappointed that my daughter could not dine with me so I had my veggie trio to go and was very disappointed with the quality of it. For such a renowned resort like Deerhurst, I was disappointed with the menu .

I was disappointed with the quality of the brunch. The food was cold, congealed, of and of poor quality. The scrambled eggs were hard and dark, the eggs benedict tasted like sawdust and the hotcakes like poptarts. The texture was all wrong. I was expecting a buffet comparable to a Fairmont or Westin. The price was less, perhaps my expectations were out of line. The patio was lovely, but the staff hadn't checked the floor after the last diners and my shoes were sticky and covered with an orange coloured substance much like jello or jam. The staff seemed tired, anxious and just didn't seem to care. The view was absolutely lovely, and the coffee was fine. Having coffee on the patio in the morning sun was priceless.

We were there for 1 hour, and in that time, a table adjacent to ours had remained un-bussed for at least a 1/2 hour. incidents This is unbelievable. We have NEVER experienced such a thing. It's not that the Eclipse was overrun with a busload of last minute patrons. Either you were understaffed, or the staff you had on, (which wasn't many) just didn't give a dam. Btw, our waitress was #119 So, there you have it. I was shocked that such an internationally renown resort would fall short of anything but excellent, if not superb service. I am deeply disillusioned and disappointed. I certainly hope that you take our opinion to heart. I can get superb service at our local Holiday Inn, Sunday brunch in Barrie where we will patronize.

There is a dearth of good dining venues around Huntsville. This is certainly one of the better ones, a place we'll return with friends and family. The dinner buffet at $36 for adults and $13 for kids was good value. Quite an array of meat and fish, salads, etc, combining kid-friendly (eg.grand chocolate fountain for dipping fruit and marshmallows) with more sophisticated choices. Server was friendly and efficient, room calm and spacious; view out the window was spectacular.

On the concierge recommendation, we chose to try the "Mediterranean" buffet. The selection was poor and both the chicken + Pork Souvlaki were dry and barely warm. Many of the dishes were empty and took a long time to replenish. It took 20+ minutes for new tzatziki to be replenished as well. We paid 37/per adult and the value was definitely not there. It was nearly 200.00 for a family of four and we were grossly disappointed. We may have had better luck ordering from the main menu, however, generally, the food at this resort for what you pay and get is not good. We will not be back.

    Skeptical
    Dined on 7/12/2014
While the ambience and view were memorable, certain factors disappointed. The white wine was removed from the table after first and subsequent pouring by the server. She was asked to leave the wine bottle at the table but said she had been ordered to remove it to keep the wine chilled. When we asked to have more white wine, our bottle arrived lukewarm not chilled. After dessert we asked for the white wine bottle and there was about 70% of it remaining. We also had two bottles of red wine, so our wine bill was significant. Food for the buffet was average. Server had far too many tables to serve. No attention paid to the infant. Would not recommend Eclipse.

We had dinner at Eclipse, on Saturday July.28th. We were very excited to dine and had great things about the view and the food. The view was great, the food was terrible and very overpriced, with a poor selection of entrees. We both ordered steak, one filet, one New York Steak. Both were very disappointing. THe quality of the meat was poor and neither one was done the way we requested. For the cost of the food, we expected a supreme cut of meat cooked the way it was requested. We feel that a resort of this reputation should have a restaurant that meets the standard. I can do a better job of grilling in my backyard with grocery store cuts. We feel ripped off and not happy at all with the food choices available. All expensive and poor

We enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner and were treated to a shared appetizer since we were celebrating our 33rd anniversary. Everyone was very friendly and eager to wish us their best. The view and the table were lovely. We loved listening to the 70's music we used to date to. The only regret is the noise level was on the high side due to a fair amount of children. Maybe a later time would have worked better.

This was our first time at Deerhurst and first time at Eclipse. I have to say that we enjoyed our appetizers much better then the Main Entree. The PEI Mussels were absolutely delicious. However, our steaks were not cooked to how we ordered them and the lentils that came with our Black Cod were very bland. Our wine glasses were water stained and for the price, I was expected a much better experience. However, we did receive a nice surprise at the end of our dinner. We were provided with a special desert for our 25th Anniversary. the funny thing was that it was charged to our bill and we had to ask to have it removed. Nice gesture though.

Mother's Day Brunch was especially crowded and over flowed with tables set in the art gallery and the bar. While easy to get about in a wheelchair the noise level was something else. Everything was top notch except a strange occurrence after we had eaten our soup! Our waiter appeared and informed one of our guests that they were out of the short ribs he had ordered and asked if they could substitute something else. Without thinking much about it our guest said yes and within 5 minutes all our entrees arrived. Everything was excellent except the substitution, which was very bad! Interestingly we had a banquet meal the next night from the same kitchen including short ribs and it was excellent

We have gone for the last 4 years and it has never disappointed. Service is good, with staff being knowledgeable and respectful. We would recommend this restaurant without hesitation and will certainly return for both Easter brunch and dinner.
