Utilitarian food, but nicely presented. Pleasant atmosphere, good wait staff. Satisfactory for a no-crowd sit down dinner in the Financial district, probably filled with tired tourists who didn't get reservations elsewhere.

Very disapointed. The last time I was here, this restaurant was on the top of the Hyatt & spun around 360 while you had a wonderful view of the city. They have closed this restaurant and Eclips is now their 3 meal restaurant. The menu was very poor. Not very many choices. The fresh cut bread was very nice with the sundried tomato paste.

two friends and i went on the last night of Dine about Town. we'd booked a table which wasn't needed. the place was pretty empty. we walked in and two employees were standing there staring at us. i approached them (!) saying we had a reservation and they pretty much said we could sit anywhere. the service was poor. i had a lunch menu at dinner. our waiter was absent for most of the meal. when we were nearly done with our entrees, he asked if we wanted more wine. my entree came when i was 1/4 thru my salad. my friend who only had an entree got hers 10 min after we did. bad timing. the salad did not have enough pear or cheese and too much dressing at the bowl's bottom. the pork was under cooked and had no flavor. the molten cake wasn't HOT!!!

There were very few people dining at Eclipse on a Sunday evening. There certainly would have been no problem being seated. The staff was cordial and the service was adequate. The food was quite good, and the servings were generous. Desserts were enjoyed by all. The atmosphere was beautiful with the hanging lights from the ceiling. All in all a nice night for a 44th anniversary.

Enjoyed our dinner, not noisy or too crowded. The food was good. It was our daughter's 17th birthday and I included that in our reservation notes. Nothing was mentioned by the wait staff. We ordered dessert- no candle :( Can't believe we spent $200 and they don't validate parking in their garage.

We were looking for the perfect place to meet for a family Christmas dinner and this fulfilled all our expectations. Firstly, the restaurant is relatively quiet so we could actually have a conversation. The Atrium is fairly spectacular and the extra Christmas decorations added even more to the experience. I would describe the ambience as casual dining with a flair. The restaurant manager was really helpful, both with the booking and the subsequent table selection. Although the staff were very busy, the service was excellent and more importantly, we were not pressured to hurry so we could relax and enjoy the whole evening. The meal itself was excellent. Overall this was a great dining experience.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

The reason to go out of your way to come here is its location in the beautiful "lobby" of the Hyatt Regency. For the holidays, they hung very long strands of lights throughout the lobby, which gave an impression of gazing into a sky with countless stars. The food was decent. One nice thing about the location of this restaurant in an area of the cavernous lobby is that although there is a lot of ambient noise, because there is no ceiling or walls it is actually easy to hear each other talk... a real consideration when bringing a person who may have some trouble hearing in a noisy environment (most SF restaurants, it seems). But don't forget that you will be charged a huge amount of money for valet parking at the hotel.

We ate here last year on Thanksgiving and made reservations again this year. It is one of the best priced deals in the city. We can't eat $75 worth of food in one sitting-the price of many dinners in the city. The food was delicious-very generous portions. We couldn't finish our plates. The server was great and recommended a wonderful wine.

We went there for New Year Eve's but we just walked out coz It was extreamly loud there with very bad sound system. Moreover the set up for the party was so low class with the stage next to the dinning section at the lobby. How could people eat like that? How ur guests will sleep that night? We were so disappointed and left. We went to Perry's instead and it was lovely.

I would have prefered a quieter atmosphere that could not be provided as the restaurant is open to the cavernous lobby of the hotel. The particular table at which I was seated was small and cramped, however the furnishings and the serving/eating accoutrements were lovely. The food was delicious and the steak cooked to perfection. The server was friendly and knowledgable. I would have preferred faster service but it was designed to be laid back and easy-going. The "chocolate banana dome" desert was divine. Pricing was a little high, but worth it, nonetheless, for a special occasion.

We went here on Christmas Day, unaware that the restaurant is actually part of the bar in the lobby with some sort of sports playing loudly on the TV. The prime rib was okay but all our food was cold. The service was horrendous - unfriendly and very sloooow and we got our check before we even finished our meals. It might be all right if you were going there to watch some sports and eat a burger, but for a special occasion like Christmas nothing about it worked. I would never eat here again.

We went here for Thanksgiving dinner. Made a reservation ahead of time and they called to confirm. We actually arrived early but the maitre d was kind enough to go ahead and seat us. Much appreciated! The food was OUTSTANDING-traditional turkey dinner, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables-and a wonderful butternut squash soup. Delicious! Our service started off really well but went downhill as the meal progressed. Our waiter just disappeared. It was like we were being ignored. He ended up comping our coffee-which was fair. It was just kind of odd. But with that exception, the food was REALLY good! Oh, also had an AMAZING cosmo from their bar!

The portions were large and you received a lot of food for the price. However the atmosphere is odd and this is really only a place to eat if you are traveling and staying in the hotel and for some reason don't want to venture out into San Francisco or have a time constraint. The waiter brought a plate to one of us when we asked for a "place setting" (meaning silver ware and napkin) and the wine we ordered from their list wast not available. They brought out dessert while some of us still had our main courses and then we couldn't get the waiter to bring our bill at the end of our meal to save our lives.

What I love most about The Eclipse is the atmosphere. It's very peaceful, serene and a perfect place to go during a hectic day. The low noise level makes it easy to catch up with friends since you can hear each other. On the day we ate here, my best friend ordered one of their "trio" lunches - you pick a main item and 2 sides for about $17. She had the Kobe sliders, tomato bisque and sweet potato fries - all of which she liked very much. I had the salmon special which had a wonderful tangy, Asian-flavor to it and it sat on top of stir fry vegetables and soba noodles. I enjoyed that very much and that was also $17. I think this restaurant is a secret gem and is terribly underrated!
