My latest experience at Ecco was as fantastic as each of the other times I've visited. The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to congratulate my partner and I on our anniversary. The food was delicious and its delivery out of the busy kitchen did not require the major wait some restaurants put you through. I would recommend this spot to anyone seeking a romantic evening or simply a night out for dessert and drinks with friends.

I came here based off of online reviews to take my family out for a special occasion. The ambience was nice; they have outdoor seating and a decent wine list. The food was good but nothing special -- definitely not worth the $100/person you're going to pay if you have a glass of wine (or two). The only item on their menu that made an impression on me was the goat cheese in honey. I would say that it's definitely not worth the money and very over-hyped.

I must start by saying our server Pablo made the whole experience great! We started with the smoked scallop appetizer which I did not care for and then had the the grilled corn appetizer which was wonderful. For dessert the gelato is a must try!! Although I like menus that are not too extensive this one seemed a bit narrow in selection. The portions were bizarre and somewhat confusing because the pasta was as big as a Magiannos dish but an appetizer was the size of Gordon Ramsey's NYC. The appetizer was tiny and overpriced, the taste was bigger and sufficient and a side was huge therefore I wasted 1/2 of it. The pasta dish my friend ordered appeared to be a healthy portion. The menu seemed to be focused on small plates but the portions are all over the place making ordering difficult. The server was mediocre bordering on moody. I felt as though we were somewhat of an imposition despite that I gave him a 20% tip but wasn't deserved.

We have not been to Ecco in a while and were not disappointed with our experience this time ... from the wine to the meats and cheeses, the exceptional beets and the comfortable pizza to share, we left very satisfied with a tab that we surprisingly only about 2/3 what I normally pay when visiting Ecco's peer restaurants ... we'll be back and soon ... Overall I enjoyed my meal quite a bit. There was one glaring issue, though. The "salt roasted yukon gold potato" side dish was a total flop. First of all, it was a red potato- not a yukon gold. And while this was listed as a side dish and made to sound like a hot item... it was basically potato salad. Problem with that is the potato was undercooked, so too firm to really enjoy and required a knife to cut. Additionally, the "soft poached egg" was substantially over cooked too. It may as well have been hard boiled, since the idea was that the yolk would run and it most certainly didn't. Again, I enjoyed the rest of the food, but that "side dish," which was really more fit as a salad, really made me scratch my head.

Ecco never seems to disappoint. While not all dishes are amazing, some really are and everything is flavorful, well-prepared. The new lamb meatballs were easily one of the best dishes I've eaten anywhere in a while. The only problem was that there were only three small meatballs to an order for $13. The quail entree was redolent with warm spices, served with seasonal beans cooked perfectly, and the new side dish of roasted potatoes with sauce gribiche and soft-boiled egg was the best version of potato salad you'll ever have. Cocktails, as usual, were delicious, unique and expertly crafted. Service is always attentive and knowledgeable. Love being able to see into the kitchen, too, so the diner can experience the theater of it all.

I've been to Ecco about 5 or 6 times over the recent years and the food is always consistently good. The menu has some items that are staples every time because they are a favorite, but they also have new items and specials. The service has always been impeccable regardless of how busy they get. We ordered a couple of appetizer items and one entrée which we split all three and it was more than plenty. We each got dessert which changes but one constant is their ice creams; although the flavors change, it's always on the menu. If you want to try something new and different but consistent, I highly recommend trying Ecco. Be sure to make reservations because walk-ins will either have to wait awhile or not be able to get in at all.

We took out of town business associates to dinner, including a couple of vegetarians and someone who does not eat pork. While there are not many vegetarian friendly options, the server very thoughtfully suggested a couple of options not on the menu. One of the guests didn't realize there was bacon in one of the vegetable side-dishes (it wasn't included on the menu). The server asked chef to make one without the bacon, which was done. I had the penne with shrimp; it was very rich and tasty and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The chocolate cherry bombe was a lovely dessert. We will definitely go back.

We have been coming to Ecco for years given we live in the neighborhood (Midtown ATL) and the food is always great. The last few times we have been we have had servers that are way too flustered and the last time just down right rude. We were entertaining friends from out of town and it was actually embarrassing. After our meal that we paid for I mentioned it to the manager and all that he could say surprisingly was "Well he has been with us for 13 years." My thought was we have been coming here for that long and thankfully have not had to experience him. Finally, don't ask someone and confirm a special occasion (birthday) when it is not acknowledged. What is the point? With so many choices in Midtown it is easy for Ecco to go away.

Bar Service was very slow as there was only one bartender for a very busy Wednesday night. We had to ask a number of times if we could order food and she said it would be a few minutes even though we were there well before the other parties sitting at the bar and those who were just trying to order drinks. Then when we placed the order it did not come out correctly however it did come out very fast. The bartender got nicer as she was presenting the check. I had not been to Ecco for a few years and I will not go back anytime soon.

We went to Ecco during midtown restaurant week because the food is usually awesome. Unfortunately, from the moment we sat down, it seemed as if our server was angry that we, (1) hadn't yet chosen a wine (2) didn't know yet if we were going with a glass or a bottle, and (3) wanted a restaurant week menu. After rudely throwing the menu on the table and recommending a less than ideal and in no way as she described wine, our server proceded to visit the table infrequently throughout the meal. It was frustrating to hear servers at all other tables around us describing the details of each dish, the ingredients used, etc. when we had to flag our server down to find out any details at all. Definitely a poor experience. The food was great though.
