Ecco is simply delicious! From its
appetizers to its pizza's, or other specialties, every detail is handles with care. Service is impecable and they make an effort to ensure that if you are in a rush, you get your meal rushed; if you are in for a dinner where time is not a matter, they let you be! I enjoy this restaurant alone at the bar, as a couple and also they are welcoming even with kids (although, I've never seeing more kids than my own). A great place to have a delicious no frills meal, in a great ambiance and awesome wine and beer list! You can't go wrong when choosing Ecco."

Went here for Valentine's Day
dinner with my wife but this was not our first time here. The food was good, not great, but solid. I'm a bit of a pizza freak, having cooked for Wolfgang Puck in real wood fired ovens and trying it all up and down the West Coast. Ecco's pizza is just, well.....eh. The ambience here is one of my favorites and it's not intimidating for a casual sit down meal. The service was just our speed. Our server was very attentive but not breathing down our necks the whole time. This may be the reason for some of the negative reviews about this. If what you want is to come in, sit down, shove a bunch of food in your pie hole and then run out (all while staring at your smartphone) this might be a place you want to pass up."

We have been to Ecco several times
and enjoy the patio. The food has always been excellent, but the last two times we were in, the service was poor at best. Both times, after waiting long intervals after being seated, ordering drinks, and finally ordering dinner, we were extremely rushed when the main course was served within 3-4 minutes of salads. This last time I sent my main course back because I was so upset with the lame timing. The same expediter served both the salads and the main courses, so he knew the timing and our server was nowhere around. We love the food and the restaurant, but if the service does not improve, we will be forced to go elsewhere in the future. Thanks for listening."

Took my Valentine there for dinner
and wine and we had a super time! The people were so nice and the service was great (Patrick) can't wait to go back....really fun experience!"

The popcorn was super stale, but
beside that the food was superb and my waitress (Tamera? I'm pretty sure) she was fantastic. I will definitely be back."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Pizza is great, portions are
perfect size, everything we had there was delicious."
Dined on 2/2/2014
This is not the place to go for a
romantic date, although you would have to get very close to heat each other. Outside is nicer and plenty warm with space heaters."
Dined on 2/8/2014
Love the lavender martini Noise
level was high..hard to hear person across"
Dined on 1/18/2014
food and service was great. Very
attentive. Good size portions at a reasonable price. Cheese plate was very tasty and went well with the wine. Just a little loud but no big deal...everyone was enjoying themselves."
Dined on 1/15/2014
Everything was very tasty. The
only thing that didn't make it perfect was the pork chops. It was so dry and over cooked or just bad quality of meat."

Amazing food, amazing service!
Highly recommend Ecco."

This place is fantastic; so glad
we have Ecco in Costa Mesa! Everything we had was delicious, including the starter (housemade meatballs, and Eggplant caviar wood fired flatbread), salad (Arugula with artichoke hearts), wood-fired pizza (red pears, fresh mozzarella, caramelized onions, mascarpone, gorgonzola), specialty cocktails, and desert (butterscotch budino). Service was very attentive, and the atmosphere on a Sunday night was downright cozy. This place would compete head-to-head with any of the best San Francisco restaurants in it's class/price range, let alone SoCal. And it's easily our top choice for local wood-fired pizza...versus Mozza, Pizzeria Ortica, Pitfire, and Il Dolce. You must go!! :)"

I love the pizza here along with
all of their other choices. But, the Sausage Pizza with crushed san marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella is so good. Their bolognese is excellent, too. I went with someone that is a total foodie and they ordered the bone marrow and said it was some of the best they have ever had. Try it…I love how it is tucked away but has such an open feeling when you arrive. It's really hip with great service!"

Ecco provides a good dining
experience. Friendly serving staff and generally good food, wines and presentation. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't change and after 2-3 times, it becomes ordinary. The Pizza's are excellent, the appetizers interesting, but the entrée choices are limited. one chicken, one beef, one steak, one salmon...the same presentations over and over again. Similarly the Pasta's are interesting the first go-round, but on subsequent visits, you might want something different. And what's with all these dishes containing artichokes? Enough!"

We had a great night the food was
delicious. We ordered the grilled arthichoke to start it was amazing .. very flavorful and tender . The special for the night was cioppino my husband ordered that ... it was full of seafood ! I had the arugula salad and a pizza again ecco did not disappoint on flavor or quality . The hostess was very sweet when we arrived as well."
Dined on 11/2/2013
The menu selections were very good
as was the food. A little too noisy if you want to have a conversation with your dining partner."
Dined on 10/24/2013
The food wasn't very good,
unfortunately. My veggie pizza was absolutely plain, the vegetables were raw, and had zero spicies. My friends pasta was again tasteless. And the bolognese sauce had very weird ingredients."
Dined on 10/21/2013
The pizzas are very good. Great
size to share for 2.. The waitress was really nice and overall the service was Perfect"

The Camp in Costa Mesa is an
interesting spot with many restaurants, bistros, and wine bars. Ecco has high quality pizza with a tasty crust. You cannot see the woodburning oven so that part you just have to trust. Staff is friendly and the service is good. Noise is a real problem so if that bothers you eat outside in the patio. Meatball appetizer is good, but meatballs are a bit soft. Sauce is a bit too spicy. Pizza choices are limited but the kitchen responds well to special orders. The sausage and the proscuitta pizzas were excellent. Crust is thin and puffed at the edges with just the right amount of char. You will need to order extra cheese on all pizzas. Lavazza coffee makes a nice cuppucino."

Ecco serves up a wonderful mix of
pasta and authentic style neapolitan pizza. Service was a bit slow at times, but friendly."
Dined on 9/29/2013
We really enjoyed our meal, we
opted for several small plates and were not disappointed. The marinated olives were delicious. My husbands favorite were the steamed mussels. Our server was attentive and helpful with good suggestions for wine. We will definitely return to Ecco."
Dined on 9/6/2013
I had no idea this place was at
the Camp. My husband and I were looking for a new local spot to eat and happened to find Ecco online. What a fantastic find! The food was delicious and the service was great! We will definitely be dine there again."
Dined on 8/25/2013
Food is on the salty side. Gets
too crowded and the noise level goes up with it."
Dined on 8/24/2013
Had a wonderful experience. First
time I'd been there and I can't wait to go back. Food was amazing."
Dined on 8/20/2013
This place is good for happy hour
or a romantic dinner for two or a group. The staff is very friendly and the food is great!!! It is definitely a must try!!!"
Dined on 8/20/2013
It was our first time for dinner
at Ecco. Very impressive, especially the service. The dinners for restaurant week were great! Delicious and Large portions! We will be back!"
Dined on 8/17/2013
Perfect spot for a delicious,
casual lunch with a garden view of shoppers resting in hammocks, boutique shops, and people watching at the Camp. Burrata bruschetta and calamari fries were delicious... Co-workers had the burgers and garlic fries-also great... Recommend the regular marinara sauce on the side for the calamari."

Came with a group of 9 for my
birthday dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was on top of drinks/requests."
Dined on 7/28/2013
This restaurant/bar was just
great. our waiter was friendly and attentive. The warm marinated olive appetizer was delicious, as was the caprese salad. The pizza was very good. We will be back!"
Dined on 7/27/2013
Low key, simple menu, Good wine
list. Heaters on outside patio. Casual, youngish crowd. Located in a hip shopping area. Easy parking."
Dined on 7/22/2013
We came for a girl's brunch. I had
opentable reservations, however, our table was not set up for us. Food was extremely bland and flavorless. I had a mimosa which was $11, overpriced and not good. The pizzas were soggy in the middle and underseasoned. The frittata and eggs benedict were pretty good, salmon pasta was very bland though. Overall, none of us were impressed. Service was slow. We will not recommend."
Dined on 7/13/2013
Great wood fired pizzas. Skip the
arugula salad as it was mostly just lettuce and not much else."
Dined on 7/14/2013
We have eaten at Ecco many times.
Food consistently very good, great service. Excellent pizza. Nothing negative to say!!"
Dined on 7/13/2013
That cucumber belonged to
gin&tonic was self-evident truth at Ecco, an axiom that many other places in OC still have to discover. Only had time for a bruscheta, something with bacon and a sweet-spicy sauce ... quite nice. The elegance of the interior design could not suppress the feeling that I have when I see the rows of orderly set up two- and four-seat tables: the feeling of being part of a herd that needs to be fed. I'd like a design that makes each table feel unique, a bit more intimate."
Dined on 6/28/2013
This is our 4th visit to Ecco and
we will return again. Their menu is called "Italian" but is much more imaginative than that! The seafood special plate was amazingly presented with scallops, prawns, salmon, and a whitefish on greens. Very tasty but somewhat overpriced at $32 which was not divulged by the server when ordering, (my mistake for not asking). We had a wonderful time on the patio, which is much quieter than the roar that seems to build up as the restaurant/bar fills up inside. We love to sneak in early before the place is mobbed due to increasing popularity. We will be back!"
Dined on 6/27/2013
chose this place for a business
lunch. WRONG. staff sat a group of kids next to us...we had to shout to be heard. i felt this was very inappropriate. the rest of the restaurant was empty and yet the server sat these loud children next to us. food was fair."
Dined on 6/7/2013
We bought a bottle of wine, and it
was superrrrr warm. They did give us 20% off of it, and when we bought the second it was cold and perfect! Thanks Ecco!"
Dined on 5/31/2013
$15 corkage, great priced menu and
tasty food. A perfect combination."
Dined on 5/31/2013
I immediately loved the atmosphere
of this place -- open, airy and modern but with the warmth of wood & candles. We ended up with two pizzas on the t;able - the white pizza (5 stars) and the sausage pizza (3 stars). Their crust is probably my favorite crust of all the neapolitan-style pizzas I've tried. Chewy, but not charred at the edges and not too soggy in the middle. This combination seems remarkably difficult to achieve, and I love that Ecco has it down! I had a glass of wine with dinner, and my companion opted for an old fashioned - although beware, I was informed that they don't seem to have bitters and so although they did what they could, it was a little off."
Dined on 5/24/2013
We have been going to Ecco for
years. This was the first time back in several months and we were taken back to be charged for bread. When your spending $120.00 for an evening it is a bit insulting to pay $3.00 for a basket of bread. We would suggest management reassess this as the negative vibes do not justify the dollars generated We were a party of 4 and have discussed it with others. The last time we experienced charges like this was in Italy and we are afar cry from Italy"
