  • "We get to Cape May three or four times a year and always eat at PSI, 410 Bank, and Ebbitt. This time we were disappointed with 410 Bank and PSI but were blown away by Ebbitt Room. We always like it but this time we really loved it. As always, a beautiful room and great service but it was the food that really impressed us. Best we ever had there. Delicious. Oh, yes, as usual although we had a 9:00 reservation we were not seated until 9:30. For some reason, they almost always are late seating people even though they have reservations. At least the food was worth the wait!"

  • "Service, food and surroundings were all excellent. A truly great restaurant."

  • "The Ebbitt Room is our go to special occasion restaurant at the Jersey Shore. On this visit, the air-conditioner was broken and although a fan was set up in the dining room at our request, as the restaurant filled up it became most uncomfortable. Our server did go out of his way and managed to get me an iced coffee from the bar after dinner. We made reservations to celebrate a good friends really significant milestone birthday. Typically, a restaurant presents a desert or something to the celebrant; but, aside from the hostess noting that we were there for a birthday, no mention or recognition was forthcoming."

  • "My wife and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here, and were overall enthralled with the freshness, creativity and high quality of the food, as well as the with the high level of courteous, knowledgeable and efficient service shown us. The desserts were not as inspired, though. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed an outstanding dining experience in keeping with the special event we were celebrating."

  • "Celebrated our 44th anniversary along with my nephews 15th anniversary at the Ebbitt room. Once again one of the better meals we had at an upscale restaurant. While the food and wine are upscale, the dress is resort dress, so it is not stuffy. We started with Kir Royal drinks (the best I've ever had) with a Beach Plum Farm Deviled egg appetizers that were the special of the day and were interesting concoctions enjoyed by all - I can't remember the specific toppings but they were not your grandmother's deviled eggs. For our mains we had, Salmon, Barramundi, and peppered lamb. The plating was beautiful and the accompaniments perfect. Domaine Dujac, Morey Saint-Denis, France 2007 for the wine. Cost - priceless, great experience."

  • "We usually try Ebbitt Room at least once a year when we go back to Cape May. This time we went earlier in the season hoping for better experience. We ate a little earlier than usual which definitely helped. We were able to sit at the bar and have a cocktail before dinner which was quite nice and the cocktails were very good. A definite improvement on noise level too because while the restaurant was busy, it wasn't packed so it wasn't as loud as we remember it. The food was good but a little too salty for our taste. We recall the food being salty the last time too. Will have to order next time and ask for less salt and then I think we'll be ok."

  • "I made this reservation a month in advance and the wait was completely worth it! Amazing drink menu, fabulous meat and cheese plate and delicious dinner! Would go back in a heartbeat!"

  • "if they'd only lower the decibels in the dining room, the place would be perfect..oh, and bartender needs to learn difference between a Pimm's Cup and a Mojito. Ordered the first got the latter..but it was very good, too"

  • "What a fabulous meal. Superb service and wonderful food made this a wonderful anniversary dinner. My potato leak soup with truffle oil and the caramelized scallops were the best ever. The salmon my wife had was perfect. To finish off the meal we had the ricotta doughnuts; simply superb. Can't wait to go back."

  • "This was a great place to go for a special occasion. The bartender Leo was a very skilled mixologist and made our wait for our table enjoyable. The food was excellent, even though the wait was rather long for our dinner."

  • "We went for the early bird menu which was not given to us with the regulatr menu, which annoys me. I had to ask for it. We had ordered from this menu last year. The portions were smaller this year. The breast of duck was a meager portion and it had more fat and grisle than meat. My husband thought the salmon was ourstanding, but a very small portion. I have gotten larger portions at most lunches I've gone to. It is a bit of a bargain at 35.00 for three courses."

  • "One of my favorite restaurants, it never disappoints. The menu is always interesting and fun. Preparation and presentation are always spot-on, and service is always great. The only negative is that the restaurant is a bit noisy and would benefit from some sound attenuation. No reason to stay away! We are in Cape May at least once a year, and make sure to eat at the Ebbitt Room on every trip."

  • "Duck breast was very fatty and gamey. Bar drinks were not good. Vodka gimlet was all vodka, no fresh lime juice on hand and not chilled. 2nd time I've been disappointed at the bar recently. If the food and drink are no good there is very little reason to go back."

  • "Within a hotel, the Ebbitt room is deservedly popular, often crowded and a bit noisy. The food is first rate and they offer a nice choice of artisan cocktails. Recommended."

  • "Waiter was nice, but not attentive. Had to ask for more water, my mother had ordered a surf and turf and the steak was chewy and didn't taste good. The waiter never came to ask how our meals were. The busboy ended up taking our plates away with the steak. Too much filler in my crabcakes and served with mashed potatoes... Yuck. But the scallops were out of this world."

  • "In a town where there are many excellent fine dining BYOB options, a restaurant with a full service bar needs to do more to make it worthwhile. The Ebbitt Room, while admitedly higher priced than other options makes a good case. Arrive a little early and start off with drinks at the classically adorned bar/lounge. The professional bar tending staff will set you up and share conversation as much as you prefer. Move a few feet over into the dining room and peruse a wine list which has something for everyone in a multitude of price ranges. Ask for assistance navigating if needed. The dishes overall are fresh and well prepared. The lobster ceasar is outstanding. The desserts were not particularly exciting. Overall an excellent experience."

  • "This chef clearly has talent. The smaller dishes were beautiful and delicious however I believe he is still going through the trial and error process on the main dishes. Two of the three were adequate but not amazing, while the third was quite good. Uneven thus far but I feel with time it will all be amazing!"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner here! The Ebbitt Room was the #1 dining highlight of our trip to Cape May: the menu offered great options, the food was perfectly prepared and delicious, the presentation and service were excellent (but not pretentious), and the live piano music provided a wonderful background. We loved it and hope to be back!"

  • "If you prefer a classy night out for a unique dinner then this is the place. A cocktail on the porch, sitting on a sofa, is like being in your home but with more atmosphere. Dinner in the open plan redesigned dining room has a modern Manhattan flare. Appetizers, salads and entrées are all superb. This is a great place for one or two couples."

  • "Food was good but portions were extremely small. Ordered pea soup for starters, very tasty for a cup of soup but cost was exorbitant. Same for the salad, very fresh but small portion and expensive. Main was swordfish, 4 small pieces over a bed of something...not worth the money. "

  • "Beautiful decor and hotel. Very in keeping with Cape May. I went to the blue pig the night before and found myself comparing a lot of the experience. The oyster were better at blue pig but the service and ambience was significantly better at the Ebbit room. The steak although ordered as medium was quite rare. Fine for me but as it's 'for two' it was too rare for my girlfriend. Great value that it came with three sides. Overall food was good but I expected it to trump blue pig. "

  • "After a 3 year break from the stuffiness of the old Ebbitt Room, we returned on 5/23 for dinner. The room has been updated to include the bar and is a great improvement. The food was exceptional and interesting, the service was quite good. We will definitely return. I had the soft shell crabs, which were perfectly cooked, plump, and meaty. Delicious. My spouse had scallops over bacon infused black rice. I'm not a big scallop fan, but this was an inspired dish. The popovers were amazing. It was a terrific meal and well worth the price."

  • "My wife and I loved everything about The Ebbitt Room. The flakey cheese biscuits, entrees, desserts and cosmopolitans, were all delicious. Our waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The piano player only added to the classy atmosphere of this wonderful restaurant ! We will definitely dine at The Ebbitt Room whenever we return to Cape May !"

  • "We have had dinner here several times, and the Ebbitt Room does not disappoint. Service was excellent, and the waiter offered adjustments to menu items when he learned of specific preferences. This time, i would not say that the food was superlative, but it was uniformly excellent."

  • "We expected more. Went to valet the car...no valet in sight. So we found a spot on the street, put in some quarters, and asked them for change for $2 to fill the meter. "Sorry, we can only give you 4 quarters." So we had to compress our drinks & dinner to sub 2 hours. Our drinks on the porch with Helen were lovely. Then we were sat in the dining room for dinner, in what had to be the worst seat in the house. Bumping elbows on the wall...right next to the service entry. Shared a cheese tray and then had chicken and duck for dinner (no time for dessert or an extra drink, since they are stingy with quarters). Went there to celebrate my birthday after seeing rave reviews....should have gone elsewhere."

  • "We had a 7:45 reservation but arrived around 7:10 to have a drink or two on the porch area. The drinks were amazing ; fresh fruit was muddled and top shelf liquor was used. The piano guy was playing and there is a nice inside lounge area but we opted for the front porch. When we were seated the waitress explained the specials and we made our decision. I had deviled eggs for app and my husband had beef tartar . Both delicious . The bread was unlike any other bread - they were like pop overs and omg unbelievable ! When asked if we wanted more we usually say no to a second round but said yes to this ! My main entree was the salmon - super fresh, light and seasoned perfectly . He got the duck special which was phenomenal! "

  • "We went back for the first time in several years. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The decor is redone which is a plus except for the bar which is no longer separated from the dining area. This increases the noise level. Food was acceptable, but the salad dressing was on the tart side. Potatoes offered with the chicken were barely discernible. The mushrooms and onions were larger. Other sides are an extra $6. One person in our party asked for a substitution on their dish; the answer given by the chef was "No." Coffee was a major disappointment...way too strong and dark for us. The waitress didn't charge us for it which was nice. The Ebbitt Room's has improved since our last visit, but aim is still a bit off. "

  • "The bar is part of the dining room, with no separation so that a noisy crowd that evening was very annoying to diners. In addition, we were very surprised to see an extra charge for additional popovers-no other bread or roll was offered. Food & service was good."

  • "I have dined here several times and always had a wonderful experience. My only issue is they were out of half of the specials for a 7:30 reservation. They maybe should not have presented the specials menu if that was the case. "

  • "Have been going to the Ebbitt for years and this is the first time I can say that I was very disappointed. Other then my salad I was very dissappointed in the meal and the noise level was just awful. I could barely hear my wife talking to me."
