Ebbitt RoomAlways specialSince the current chef came to the Ebbitt Room, the menu has been superb. The restaurant went through a patch a while back (before this chef) when the food was overcomplicated, but now you just can't go wrong with whatever you choose. The appetizers are imaginative and fun to try, and the entrees are so fresh, unique, and satisfying. We are New Yorkers, with a bungalow down here on the bay, and if we have a special occasion, even though there are a lot of great restaurants in NYC, we prefer to wait and celebrate at the Ebbitt Room.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHope to eat there againA friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellently prepared dishes, and marvelous cocktails. I would gladly eat there again.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. gettingThe food was excellent. getting seated was another issue, we were told twice our table was being set, before sitting 1/2 hour later.
I guess they gave the first one to someone else.
Other than that a great night, and wonderful place.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Chef in Cape May!Dined on 6/4 for our anniversary. Chef Micari is exceptional. His well thought out food has complex preparations and many layers of flavor. The tuna tartare was unique and delicious, the ricotta gnocchi was great and the duck entree was to die for. The breast was prepared over 24 hours before it even hit the oven. The shallot marmalade had beautiful depth. They ran out of the chef's sweet ricotta doughnuts for dessert. Chef Micari promised them for us the next day and the amazing doughnuts were waiting. Far beyond our expectations for an executive chef. Our server Sean knew the menu (he recommended the duck) was very professional and his wine knowledge and pairings were perfect. We would highly recommend the Ebbitt Room with Chef Micari.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA LITTLE DISSAPOINTING BUT VERY GOOSERVER WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND. FOOD RUNNER WOULD JUST DROP PLATES AND RUN AWAY. MENU ITEM I WAS VERY INTERESTED IN WAS UNAVAILABLE ACCORDING TO OUR SERVER THEN THE TABLE NEXT TO US WAS SERVED THE SAME UNAVAILABLE DISH ABOUT A HALF-HOUR AFTER WE WERE TOLD "NO"..
MANY WELL-BEHAVED CHILDREN PRESENT BUT NOT CONDUCIVE TO CHILDREN LIKELY TO BE NOISY OR NEEDING TO MOVE AROUND.
PERSON WHO CLEARED OUR TABLE WAS MORE POLITE, CALM , AND PROFESSIONAL THAN THE SERVER OR THE FOOD RUNNER.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a upper-class restaurant,This is a upper-class restaurant, nice for an adult night out. Each food morsel on our plate had a unique taste. The service was exquisite. It will be added to our list of special occasion restaurants.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLivelier, LovelierThey have changed the look at the Ebbitt Room. The bar is bigger, livelier. The pianist has moved to a roomier lounge. The dining room is less formal, more welcoming. Service is slick, savvy. And the food is outstanding, with chef Anthony Micari doing variations on some classics and creating new dishes. The emphasis is on farm-to-table, utilizing the bounty from their own nearby Plum Beach farm. Five of the nine main courses featured seafood, most of it harvested locally. The signature appetizer, deviled eggs with exotic toppings, has caught on. The wine list is extensive, perhaps too expensive. In a competitive restaurant scene, the modernized Ebbitt Room remains firmly in the top 5.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experience! My wife and I go back at least twice a year. Stop in early for a great glass of wine at the newly redesigned bar area and then have some of the best food in Cape May with some of the most knowledgable staff. When your done eating, hang out in the bar or any of the nearby couches to enjoy some great piano music.
Highly recommended!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNever let you downNot much to say other than the Ebbitt Room is always tops. The best Manhatten around and food and service is always top shelf. I look forward to another visit to Cape May and an enjoyable evening at the Ebbitt Room5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in Cape MayThe Ebbitt Room is my new favorite place to dine in Cape May! Service was wonderful and attentive and the food was to die for. Seriously, it was probably the best Filet Mignon I have ever had, tender and perfectly cooked and flavored to perfection. My husband ordered the bacon wrapped scallops, and he usually hates bacon but loved every bite of his dinner. The decor is dark and romantic and they had a piano player providing the background music for the restaurant and bar. This dinner was better than the Washington Inn because of the perfect service and romantic atmosphere. We will definitely be back!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter was in trainingOur waiter was in training and was assisted by an experienced waiter when we were first seated. After that, he was on his own, and he was somewhat slow and forgetful. We ordered a second glass of wine, and we had to remind him about it when he served our entrees. However, the food was fantastic. The calamari appetizer was the best we have ever had, and the entrees were wonderful.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had not been back to theWe had not been back to the Ebbitt Room for a number of years. With a new chef in charge, we thought we would give it another try. Food was beautifully prepared and attractive. Service was attentive. The renovated room was more appealing than the old. The only problem was that the acoustics are still bad.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey Treat in Cape MayFirst: the food and service are excellent. We had perfect scallops and halibut. However, if one wants a veg, it's extra, which seems a little mean at this price level.
The decor is nicely done Cape May Victorian. The bar is in the same room and adds to the the very lively sound level.
Overall, our dinner was a real treat with excellent food, service and drink, just beware the loud room.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been here many timesWe've been here many times over the years. Last year, it was hit or miss as far as food quality. This was our first time this year, but the food was outstanding. Everything cooked perfectly and such flavor. All the fruits and vegetables are from the Cape May Resort Group's private farm in West Cape May.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time dining at the EbbitFirst time dining at the Ebbit Room, heard it was a "must place to dine" when in Cape May. I am glad I made reservations 2 weeks in advance, the restaurant is rather small and cozy and was packed...and it was the off-season! Because of the small restaurant expect there to be a bit of noise, there were also large parties (6 top and 8 top) tables nearby which I am sure increased some of the noise. But this dinner was absolutely fantastic! Must eat here if you can get a table.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter getting off to a slowAfter getting off to a slow start, service was warm and professional. These folks take pride in their food, as they should. Flounder was perfectly cooked; filet was one of the best ever, and the onions in reduced wine sauce that came with it were perfection, deep rich flavor that complemented the beef. Vegetables, sides and salads and garnishes, were
fresh and delicious. A sweet potato casserole was spectacular, almost fluffy but full of flavor. We liked it all so much our first night that we came back for a second night, and
were not disappointed. I would definitely recommend this place.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming and ElegantThe Ebbitt Room has old world charm with a modern menu featuring innovative preparation of staples such as appetizers of calamari with an Asian twist and deviled eggs prepared with unusual ingedients. Service was efficient without being overbearing. All in all, a great dining experience.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI thought the menu was veryI thought the menu was very limited. I enjoyed my entree but thought the salad was lacking in flavor. Chocolate ice cream was delicious.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMService and Food are reasoningsService and Food are reasonings to go. Music was outstanding as well4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMthe ebbitt room has becomethe ebbitt room has become our favorite spot for a special dinner.the food and the service was great as usual4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelious food in a beautiful settingThis was my first visit and I will be going back when I'm in Cape May again. The bar offered great cocktails and small plate appetizers. Dinner was excellent. The food was fresh, creative and presented in a pleasing manner. The dining area is very elegant. I liked the dark colored walls with the dim lighting. The service was excellent. I would recommend to all my friends.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI live in the Greater PhiladelphiaI live in the Greater Philadelphia Area, which means I can also make it to New York City easily. Hands down, the best dining experience I have had in the past 5 years. Food, service, ambience, was head and shoulders above any meal I have had recently. We will be back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous atmosphere. We lovedFabulous atmosphere. We loved the food and martini's. This was our favorite of the weekend.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNice recoveryAlthough we were seated 35 minutes late and each of us had to send back our filets because they were too rare, we had an overall wonderful experience. The menu is somewhat limited but the food we did order was excellent. Very nice wine list as well. Fo3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, lovely atmosphere,Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, wonderfully attentive service. I hate to even write something negative about this lovely restaurant but it's more of a warning. I would not recommend the flounder topped with crab imperial unless you're a big fan of pepper, which I'm not. I don't know if the cook was a little heavy handed or if that's the standard but it was quite "peppery". Other than that we loved our experience. The deviled eggs of the day were delicious and the portions are quite generous for a fine dining restaurant.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the atmosphere, theLoved the atmosphere, the wine, & the filet was delicious! My husband & I had a great romantic dinner but agreed would be a great place to go with friends too!11/25/2012 12:00:00 AMOne of our FavoritesIt is a beautiful room. The menu has always been current, somewhat trendy at times but there always seems to be something for everyone. Being located in Cape May there is usually local seafood and great Jersey produce on the menu. It is located in a beautiful refurbished Victorian Hotel and in walking distance to the promenade and mall for an after dinner stroll. and valet parking as well.9/29/2012 12:00:00 AM
