  • "This is a go to for out of town guests. Food is delightful, from fresh home grown salads to multiple seafood preparations to a number of steak and chicken entrees. The deviled eggs are surprisingly rich and unique, prepared with exotic fillings (wild boar and smoked trout when we were there). The food is excellent although not perfect. I had a scallop entree which sounded great but was a bit bland, which is hard to do in Cape May, a scallop capital. Service was good and the place is just a beautiful space. Make sure you go early for cocktails on one of Cape May's best porches."

  • "The Ebbitt Room is such a beautiful place in the center of Cape May. It is small restaurant with a perfect ambience. We have been there often yet not recently. We heard they had a new chef and thought we would try it. The menu had many great options to pick from so our dinner was excellent. The creme brulee along with the toffee pudding dessert was a spectacular ending to a great night. We will definitely return with friends my next visit to Cape May."

  • "It's not often that strangers dining at a restaurant get talking with each other over the food, but that was our delightful experience recently at the Ebbitt Room. The strip steak with bleu cheese, a special that night, was so gorgeous that diners stared. A man next to my husband nearly drooled when my husband steak was presented. My husband said, " That's what you ordered!" When that man's dinner arrived we all told the man at the next table down that he had to order it too. Which he did. As perfectly delicious as it looked. I was wowed by the pear cucumber gazpacho special. Everything else was wonderful too. The bar has phenomenal cocktails and is worth going to for that alone, but wow dinner sure was good."

  • "We get to Cape May three or four times a year and always eat at PSI, 410 Bank, and Ebbitt. This time we were disappointed with 410 Bank and PSI but were blown away by Ebbitt Room. We always like it but this time we really loved it. As always, a beautiful room and great service but it was the food that really impressed us. Best we ever had there. Delicious. Oh, yes, as usual although we had a 9:00 reservation we were not seated until 9:30. For some reason, they almost always are late seating people even though they have reservations. At least the food was worth the wait!"

  • "The Ebbitt Room is our go to special occasion restaurant at the Jersey Shore. On this visit, the air-conditioner was broken and although a fan was set up in the dining room at our request, as the restaurant filled up it became most uncomfortable. Our server did go out of his way and managed to get me an iced coffee from the bar after dinner. We made reservations to celebrate a good friends really significant milestone birthday. Typically, a restaurant presents a desert or something to the celebrant; but, aside from the hostess noting that we were there for a birthday, no mention or recognition was forthcoming."

  • "Celebrated our 44th anniversary along with my nephews 15th anniversary at the Ebbitt room. Once again one of the better meals we had at an upscale restaurant. While the food and wine are upscale, the dress is resort dress, so it is not stuffy. We started with Kir Royal drinks (the best I've ever had) with a Beach Plum Farm Deviled egg appetizers that were the special of the day and were interesting concoctions enjoyed by all - I can't remember the specific toppings but they were not your grandmother's deviled eggs. For our mains we had, Salmon, Barramundi, and peppered lamb. The plating was beautiful and the accompaniments perfect. Domaine Dujac, Morey Saint-Denis, France 2007 for the wine. Cost - priceless, great experience."

  • "We went for the early bird menu which was not given to us with the regulatr menu, which annoys me. I had to ask for it. We had ordered from this menu last year. The portions were smaller this year. The breast of duck was a meager portion and it had more fat and grisle than meat. My husband thought the salmon was ourstanding, but a very small portion. I have gotten larger portions at most lunches I've gone to. It is a bit of a bargain at 35.00 for three courses."

  • "One of my favorite restaurants, it never disappoints. The menu is always interesting and fun. Preparation and presentation are always spot-on, and service is always great. The only negative is that the restaurant is a bit noisy and would benefit from some sound attenuation. No reason to stay away! We are in Cape May at least once a year, and make sure to eat at the Ebbitt Room on every trip."

  • "Duck breast was very fatty and gamey. Bar drinks were not good. Vodka gimlet was all vodka, no fresh lime juice on hand and not chilled. 2nd time I've been disappointed at the bar recently. If the food and drink are no good there is very little reason to go back."

  • "In a town where there are many excellent fine dining BYOB options, a restaurant with a full service bar needs to do more to make it worthwhile. The Ebbitt Room, while admitedly higher priced than other options makes a good case. Arrive a little early and start off with drinks at the classically adorned bar/lounge. The professional bar tending staff will set you up and share conversation as much as you prefer. Move a few feet over into the dining room and peruse a wine list which has something for everyone in a multitude of price ranges. Ask for assistance navigating if needed. The dishes overall are fresh and well prepared. The lobster ceasar is outstanding. The desserts were not particularly exciting. Overall an excellent experience."

  • "Waiter was nice, but not attentive. Had to ask for more water, my mother had ordered a surf and turf and the steak was chewy and didn't taste good. The waiter never came to ask how our meals were. The busboy ended up taking our plates away with the steak. Too much filler in my crabcakes and served with mashed potatoes... Yuck. But the scallops were out of this world."

  • "We usually try Ebbitt Room at least once a year when we go back to Cape May. This time we went earlier in the season hoping for better experience. We ate a little earlier than usual which definitely helped. We were able to sit at the bar and have a cocktail before dinner which was quite nice and the cocktails were very good. A definite improvement on noise level too because while the restaurant was busy, it wasn't packed so it wasn't as loud as we remember it. The food was good but a little too salty for our taste. We recall the food being salty the last time too. Will have to order next time and ask for less salt and then I think we'll be ok."

  • "If you prefer a classy night out for a unique dinner then this is the place. A cocktail on the porch, sitting on a sofa, is like being in your home but with more atmosphere. Dinner in the open plan redesigned dining room has a modern Manhattan flare. Appetizers, salads and entrées are all superb. This is a great place for one or two couples."

  • "Beautiful decor and hotel. Very in keeping with Cape May. I went to the blue pig the night before and found myself comparing a lot of the experience. The oyster were better at blue pig but the service and ambience was significantly better at the Ebbit room. The steak although ordered as medium was quite rare. Fine for me but as it's 'for two' it was too rare for my girlfriend. Great value that it came with three sides. Overall food was good but I expected it to trump blue pig. "

  • "After a 3 year break from the stuffiness of the old Ebbitt Room, we returned on 5/23 for dinner. The room has been updated to include the bar and is a great improvement. The food was exceptional and interesting, the service was quite good. We will definitely return. I had the soft shell crabs, which were perfectly cooked, plump, and meaty. Delicious. My spouse had scallops over bacon infused black rice. I'm not a big scallop fan, but this was an inspired dish. The popovers were amazing. It was a terrific meal and well worth the price."

  • "Food was good but portions were extremely small. Ordered pea soup for starters, very tasty for a cup of soup but cost was exorbitant. Same for the salad, very fresh but small portion and expensive. Main was swordfish, 4 small pieces over a bed of something...not worth the money. "
