Diner Reviews
  • "...and always find a great meal. On this particular occasion, 10 of us dined at ESS for Sunday Brunch. We had French Toast (for Dash), Burgers, omelettes, and most of the rest of the menu. I had the Lobster and Eggs and loved it. One of us had a basic breakfast and found the bacon undercooked while the Eggs Over Easy came out Over Hard. Our server was quick to remedy the eggs and all was well. We let the bacon go, but I have never understood why all bacon isn't served crispy - who orders their bacon medium-rare? The pour-over coffee was awesome, as usual. My only quibble is ESS's inability to serve a JagerMary, with the lame excuse that they refuse to carry Jagermeister behind their otherwise well-stocked bar. Still, it's a great eatery."

  • "I like Eat Street Social, the food is generally good - the cheese plate is always reasonable priced. The beer selection is good but they do not rotate it often enough. I eat here about every 2-3 months and it's always the same taps. I had the pork cutlet sandwich last time - I would not recommend it - fried way to crispy. I would definitely go for the burger over it."

  • "Outstanding service - staff seems to love working there. Food was great only complaint is the noise level"

  • "Was a bit slow in getting our food, but food was good and wait staff very nice and helpful. Was busy at the time, but restaurants should gear up for those busy times."

  • "The ambience and drink selection is very good here. Comfortable and the service is good. However, this is my second experience with Eat Street and the food is not really that impressive for the price. It sounds good on the menu but the flavor pairings and quality could be improved."

  • "My girlfriend and I visited on a Friday night to find a full bar. The interior is very pleasant and the staff is trendy. Service, drinks and food are all wonderful."

  • "Place was loud so if you want to talk in a big group I would not recommend. But, for a smaller group the noise is part of the ambience. Very vibrant. Food was fresh and unique but not over the top."

  • "We had great house sausage appetizer, great cocktails and were well taken care of. The entrees were a bit salty unfortunately. Could have used more fresh herbs inplace of oversalting, but all in all the foonce d, drinks and atmosphere was great."

  • "The food was not as good as my first visit, however the cocktails were great."

  • "Wonderful dinner. I had the red curry Mahi-Mahi with pineapple salsa, which is fabulous. I could have licked my plate. My colleague had the duck, also fabulous. We split the unbaked Alaska - excellent."

  • "One of our favorites on Eat Street, the food is always good and the service very nice. It is one of the places we keep returning too."

  • "Our waiter was great. The food was awesome. The room was full but not overly loud so we could talk. Loved it."

  • "Truly my favorite place to get a craft cocktail in the Twin Cities. The bartenders make excellent recommendations and do a great job of explaining how they build flavors."

  • "Eat Street Social is my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. The combination of fabulous food, service, ambience and prices makes this place exceptional."

  • "Good food, lively atmosphere. We even took my late-60-something parents, and they enjoyed themselves -- and most importantly, the food."

  • "Still like ESS overall and recommend it. Appetizers were very good. Scallops and steak tartare were delicious. Scallops were no very large for what you pay, though. Entrees of bison (love bison and know the danger of how quick it can cook, but this was raw) and pork osso bucco (weird consistency but good) were OK, but we've had better. Drinks make this place special though. Great attention to detail. Wonderful balance. Will definitely be back, but will switch up the order a bit (except for the tartare)"

  • "Very good service. The menu seemed limited, with a few standard choices, and some more creative selections. The real draw is the selection of unusual drinks from the main bar or the more interesting Tikki Bar. It was just warming up for our somewhat early reservation."

  • "This place is still working out the kinks. Great drinks. Some menu items are delish, but others not, esp given the price point. Host and server were awkward and not on top of their game. Keep trying - like this place!"

  • "Need shoulder pads to sit at the table we were given. Must have been hit in the arm 5 times during meal as we were sitting so close to the bar."

  • "Great Place for Brunch! Nice beer and wine selection as well as a delicious Bellini. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Architecturally, this is a beautiful place! The breakfast menu looks quite interesting, but the food is less so. The service is friendly, but distracted; cold poached eggs, misordered eggs, breakfast potato; lukewarm. Over priced. We really wanted to love this place and will give it a second look, but can't recommend the brunch at this point."

  • "I couln't rave more about how delicious Eat Street is, from the first sip of a perfectly crafted cocktail to the last bite of the chocolate cake. I was in a group of 3 and we all got different starters and entrees. Not a one of us was less than satisfied with everything! Geoff's vision and menu was spot on once again! Thank you to the back and front of house for making our Saturday night spectacular!"

  • "The majority of the food was tasty. The cocktails were great. The booth seating is not very comfortable. Maybe the tables ate too large."

  • "This is my favorite place to dine in the Twin Cities. The food is sublime. The staff is attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is spectacular - love the Nicholas Harper paintings! You just cannot go wrong here. This place is a treasure!"

  • "We were looking for a restaurant open after visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Arts on a Thursday night. This was open later than the others, and that's the only reason we chose it. First time here, but was thoroughly impressed and would come back if we're around again. Eclectic food mix, not extensive, but very creative and well done. Service was Outstanding, servers attentive but never in the way. Excellent bar menu, original cocktails, great selection of spirits. Now one of our favorites."

  • "We had a great date here. Excellent food. We waited a bit initially for the server to stop by but once he took our orders, the food came in a reasonable time frame and it was great. We will come back."

  • "Fun place. Lots of great energy. The food was excellent. The type that was just a little more than you'd make on your own so worth going out for. Wait staff part of the scene and energy."

  • "I've been to this restaurant/bar numerous times and have always had a good experience. The staff is friendly and eager to help, the drinks are deliciously complex and inventive, and the food is playful, fancy yet down to earth, and simply delicious. Be sure to ask questions versus writing something off because of an ingredient you're not familiar with or any bias you may have. After dinner, head over to Glam Doll for some delicious donuts!"

  • "I hate to nit-pick, but the hostess' attire was borderline inappropriate--lots of skin exposed and too revealing. She looked like she was about to go clubbing, not a good look for such a nice establishment. She was very pleasant though and seated us promptly. Service was outstanding as usual. Our group shared a bunch of plates. All the food was great, except for the duck, which just didn't have a lot of flavor. The cocktails were great and never disappoint."

  • "This was my second visit to Eat Street, and both times one of the highlights has been the cocktail menu. Many creative options, and so far I have enjoyed my selections. One bonus is a menu of non-alcoholic mixed drinks, which was a refreshing change for a member of our group who was pleased to have a choice beyond NA beer or diet Coke. While my meal was also excellent, there was limited choice for the vegetarians in the group, so if that is a concern you may want to check the menu ahead of time. It's a trendy spot where the clientele is a younger crowd, and the outdoor patio is great in nice weather. My parents would hate it, but my friends and I love it."

  • "We were so pleased to visit Eat Street Social! Our beef tartar was one of the best in the Twin Cities. The choice of beer is wonderful. The appetizers not only tasted good but very presented in an appealing way. We have been back two already. Thank you!"

  • "Very slow service. Ordered an appetizer and two entrees, got the app after 15 minutes, waited entrees for extra half hour after finished the app. The main was good, side dishes were not edible."

  • "We chose Eat Street for our unique group on a Saturday in April. It was a great experience, great food, great drinks, and OUTSTANDING service. We have been here once before, but this great experience makes us want to go more often! The only reason I didn't give the experience 5 stars, was because our reservation was for 8 and we weren't seated until 8:45. They should work on it."

  • "I was at Eat Street Social with a group of friends and work colleagues on Tuesday night. A number of our group have dietary restrictions and food allergies. Maddie, our server, was just wonderful. The chef was especially accommodating for multiple needs (gluten free, soy & dairy free, vegetarian), even graciously taking back a dish ordered in error and replacing in. Maddie was such a great help to everyone at our table and helped make our experience fantastic. We especially enjoyed the cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic-- they were delicious!"

  • "We arrived to valet at the time of our reservations. Valet was so backed up, we arrived late & the hostess gave our table away (w/o contacting -my # was on the reservation). We waited over a hour & finally got a spot at the bar. We were going to grab a beverage while we waited, but all 4 bartenders were "too busy". One was busy dancing a little ditty (mopping up the floor). He looked at us while dancing, but never offered to get us a drink. The food was fair. I love local sourcing, but it didn't measure up to others in Mpls (Wise Acre). The duck was excellent, the spinach was oversalted & squash was just mini pancakes. There was an error on the bill & we spoke to the manager; he was the dancing fool behind the bar. Not a good impression..."
