A word from Eat Shop - Plymouth
Welcome to Eat Shop.
Guess what? We are not a sports bar. We are also not a chain. Furthermore, we know our name is a little quirky and unexpected, but so are we. And it kinda grew on us.
Who are we? We are local. We are from the area and noticed how hard it was to get a decent glass of wine. We thought it might be nice to have a place where people could pop in and enjoy some swordfish tacos and a pint of local beer after a movie or grab the neighbors and sink into a big round booth with plates of pasta, and duck salad, maybe a steak or burger, if that is what you're feeling.
We want to be your watering hole, your meet-up, your hang out. We can't promise to be everything to everyone, we won't have trivia nights and probably won't fire up the old popcorn machine, but we will do our best to serve you fresh and modern American food and drinks that give you something to look forward to. We hope we kinda grow on you, too.

Diner Reviews
  • "I came with a group of 6 over lunch. We had made a reservation for 11:30, but there was no need. The place was deserted. No customers, just a hostess and a guy with a bunch of tools piled all over the table next to us. We got drinks right away, but had to wait over 40 minutes for the "fast" lunch promised on a tent sign in front of the restaurant. When our orders finally arrived, hot entrees arrived luke warm or cold, and requests for exceptions (dressing on the side) had been ignored by the kitchen. The bad service, mediocre food, and ruined ambience (thanks to an ill-conceived party room addition that has destroyed the restaurant's initial trendy open-kitchen feel) have turned me off of Eat Shop for the foreseeable future. • "We enjoyed an early(ish) weekend dinner with the kids. Eat shop got a lot of buzz when they opened, since they're one of the trendier restaurants in the 'burbs, but I'm not yet convinced. Eat shop has a good atmosphere and we really enjoyed dining outside last summer. The charcuterie (eat plate) is quite good, and, I believe, made in-house. This time we ordered the Cuban Pork Sandwich was very good - the pork had a great flavor. I don't know if avocado is traditional, but it added flavor and texture. My wife and kids both had chicken dishes, which were a little unremarkable. One thing Eat Shop does better than any other area restaurant is that they hold a great local selection of brews, though some more seasonal emphasis would be nice."

  • "Second time trying this place and it was worse the second time. I was with a group of ten but even so, the order took way to long and it wasn't busy. Plus, my order was not correct, my brother's portion of "Adult" Mac & Cheese looked exactly the same as the kids meal size just with some meat added. My brother in-law got up and walked over to the server area to get ketchup for our table and he said his burger had hardly."

  • "We had dined at Eat Shop during their opening week and loved it. Lots of options, good food, good service, etc. We came back a month or so later and the menu was completely different, the options that we couldn't wait to try had been removed and replaced with a more expensive boring version. I finally decided to give it another try and am so glad I did. All of the menu choices were back, the food was delicious and our server couldn't have been better. Thank you Eat Shop!"

  • "The thing I dislike about Eat Shop is the noise level. I do understand that the airyness of the room gives it a lofty hip feel but the accustics (sp?) make it difficult to talk with others on our table. The guy at the end of my table had a very hard time sharing in the conversations. I think a couple of round tables for groups would help. Our waitress totally screwed up our bills but she did straighten them out in a timely manner. At the end I wasn't quite sure if I was billed correctly but I chose not to press it even though I normally wouldn't pay $15.00 for a sandwich. Its a lively place and I would go back with a couple people instead. My 2 gin and tonics were delicious."

  • "This was our first visit to the Eat Shop. We were happy to find a locally owned restaurant in the suburbs! There were 6 of us that went out, and we all loved everything we got--appetizers, soups, salad and main dishes. Scallops were perfectly cooked, fish tacos delicious, burgers great."

  • "Our book club group met for book discussion, wine and dessert. Our server was delightful, the wine was on special (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and the brownie/ice cream dessert was delicious!"

  • "My dining experience was good for the most part. The 2 of us that had salads were not quiet as pleased with our food as the 3 people who had other foods like the sandwiches which were very good. I had the Ceasar Salad & found it to be bland without a lot of flavor. Next time, I'll stick with one of the sandwiches. Service & atmosphere was very good."

  • "Only issue was restaurant did not have some of the entrees and desserts that were on the menu which seemed odd on a Saturday night"
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "There were two large group parties on Saturday night and not enough staff to serve the floor or in the kitchen. Suggest beefing up when large group events are in progress. This Saturday night was not representative of usual visits."

  • "Service was slow and inconsistent (I don't like being served by other staff) and the food was only just "good" this time. We've been here before and the service and quality of experience fell short of our prior experiences."

  • "This is the second time I've eaten here and both times I have been disappointed in the food."

  • "Food was excellent. Our server was very busy but she still gave very good service. This restaurant is not our 1st choice for eating out because the noise level is so high; carpet the floors, put in a drape or two, add some fabric to soak up some of the noise so a conversation with your dining partner can take place."

  • "The Eat Shop had phenomenal quality food, however, it was VERY pricey for the quantity of food received."

  • "The food was excellent. I had the Pan Seared Salmon and my mother had the Scallops. The meals come out plated looking like you spent more than the $20-25.. and they tasted like more expensive restaurants. If you're looking for really good food and are willing to spend a little more, then come here! The negatives would be slower than usual service. Nothing to complain to the restaurant about, but I will note it here because others might find that a huge turn off. We were there at 6pm on a Thursday night. And the lighting is darker, so not for everyone. Again, this did not bother us, just pointing it out. This place would have gotten all 5 stars from me in the overall if the service was a little quicker."

  • "We had a Living Social voucher for dinner for 2 with wine or beer flight (3) for each of us. We shared a delicious appetizer of steamed mussels in orange/garlic/butter broth, accompanied by excellent garlic toast. Shared a Caesar salad which was good. My entree was wonderfully prepared sea scallops with string beans, while spouse enjoyed a customized burger which she rated as "very good". Topped off evening with a huge serving of red velvet cake with vanilla ice cream."

  • "When you walk in, the restaurant has a great look, but when you look around, the place seemed a little dead. Lots of tables were empty but we thought maybe it was because the space was really big. The beer and wine list was great. When we started looking at the food, my husband and I both said "nothing really stands out." On top of the food seeming from the menu that it was just a little boring, prices were a bit high. The service was good, but we wouldn't go back for the food."

  • "there "specialty" pulled pork with green chilies tasted like the pork had been made 2 or 3 weeks prior. ugh. Sweet potato fries were great, HUGE serving of them"

  • "Our waitress was not very friendly. The wine flights included inexpensive and unexciting choices. The calamari was overfried. Similarly, the salad had way too much dressing on it. My pasta dish was unexpiring. However, My husband's salmon was very good."

  • "Eight of us went here for an employee lunch, and we were seated immediately. They were not staffed appropriately with only one server plus the host for the entire restaurant. I appreciated that the server moved quickly and tried her best but there was no way she could manage the entire place including the bar area. It took us well over 30 minutes to get our food once our order was placed and when it did arrive it was disappointing. The fries were cold and the food was bland. I ordered the duck salad which was a "chef specialty." Normally I would not order duck for lunch but thought I'd give it a try since it was a chef specialty. It too was not good. Hopefully their evening service is better. We will not be going back."

  • "Although not our first time there, this time we happened to be there on a 'Living Social' promotion. Everything was outstanding and our server, Mindy, was the best! We'll be back - even without the discounted promotion."

  • "Our party of 7 (3 adults and 4 kids) were pleased to find a table at Eat Shop in Plymouth for a last minute Valentine's dinner. The server was helpful and struck the right balance of being attentive but not disruptive. The food was amazing and accommodated our vegetarian, carnivorous, gluten-avoiding and picky diners equally well. The restaurant's vibe is classy, yet comfortable. I highly recommend the Eat Shop for anyone looking for quality food in a pleasant, sit-down, relaxed atmosphere."

  • "We were extremely disappointed. The food was good, however it was very overpriced. It is basically a bar with great drinks, good burgers and salads, except that everything is priced much higher than it should be. We went on a Saturday night and they were out of many of the things we wanted. They were out of the wine I ordered, one of the appetizers we wanted to try and both of the desserts we wanted, including a brownie. I'm amazed how you can run out of brownies being in the strip mall as a grocery store. Worst of all, they didn't tell us what they were out of until we tried to order it. Frustrating!! Anyway, unless they lower the prices and up the quality of the service, we won't be going back."

  • "Overpriced for what you got. I've been to much nicer restaurants and have gotten nicer meals for much less. The ambience was terrible. They are attempting to give you fine dining in a sports bar. Doesn't work. Next time I'll just go to Champs and save $50."

  • "After making reservations for Valentines day...arriving 10 minutes early...seeing open tables , we were seated without thought in between two other couples...one with a crying 4 yr old. The feature of a regular 3 fresh tap beers...was too much for the waiter to recall what they were.. The menus is mostly burgers, very small portion appetizers. We had crab cakes that were for two of us... 2 half dollar sized tater tots of Crab. Asking for some pink in my gourmet burger came back well done. Was Glad to leave and hit the liquor store. If you have kids younger than 14, live in Plymouth, and want food better than fast food, Eat Shop is a good place. Adults only...do not recommend for ambience other than LOUD and cozy with your neighbors."

  • "Was not expecting the awesome local beer selection. Loved every bit of that. Food was really good.. like really really good. I had read some mixed reviews so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I decided to make my own judgement, and boy, am I glad I did. So take this review for what ever you'd like... everyone has their own opinion. But I am definitely a fan of Eat Shop. If anything, I'll just be back to get some of the local brews in the 'burbs :)"

  • "This time The Eat Shop pulled off a very organized evening for a very busy holiday. Wait staff were friendly, efficient and kept their cool. The food was delicious- We always order the Salmon ( always excellent, good size with varied creative seasonal vegetables) and then try one other selection. I chose one of the salads with the deep fried shrimp- it was OK- too heavy on the blue cheese vinaigrette-We had one appetizer- the Salty pretzels with the cheese dip- and we would not order those again. The sea salt was too heavy for our tastes, but if you like salt- that would be a good choice. The best cocktail EVER is their Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita!!! I adore this drink and would make the drive just for this drink."

  • "I gave Eat Shop a try for an early dinner, at 5. Clean and cool vibe. Service was great! The staff was very friendly. There's actually a Bourdeaux on the wine list, which isn't a common find in a suburban restaurant. I ordered the 6 oz filet w/mashed potatoes and carrots. The filet was cooked perfectly but the mash and carrots were really subpar. Mashed potatoes are MASHED; mine looked like someone's chewed up chunks; gross. The carrots could were simply steamed with absolutely no seasoning. I'm a nonsmoker, and I couldn't detect even the slightest hint of salt. It must have all been on the pretzels. But, the pretzels had their own problems; hot, but dry and hard. For $50/person, it could have been better."

  • "Had the Hot Salad. Really delicious. The more I ate the more delicious the flavors became. A delight for the taste buds. Very few customers so come on Plymouth...take a break from Chili's and Applebees."

  • "Lots of reviews touting East Shop on how good it was and it was just okay. I had the signature sausage plate and they were good, not great. My wife had the salmon and the potatoes were very rich, friend had the scallops and they were also good but swimming in butter. Server was very busy when we were first sat and her section seemed too big for one person to handle. We waited to order drinks, food and we were never asked if we wanted a second drink as they sat empty for half the meal. Our server was very pleasant – just harried. Probably would not go back except to maybe have a beer at the bar."

  • "If you like to eat a restaurants that are not a chain, this is the place for you in Plymouth. We eat out a lot and generally head out of the 'burbs when we do it. Eat Shop is a nice option for good food close by. I think the duck salad is the best thing on the menu. Good for lunch and great happy hour options. Service is spotty, not always as attentive as it should be. When we were here for dinner they had some issues with music - it was really loud for awhile (hard to hear people sitting next to you), but they figured that out quick enough to make for an enjoyable family dinner."

  • "From the lack of service to the mediocre overpriced food I will NEVER spend another dollar at Eat Shop. For the $24 salmon entree and $30 "6 oz" filet (that was a silver dollar medallion at best), I'd at least expect more than instant potatoes as a side. Coupled with the drafty cold atmosphere (75% of diners were wearing their coats throughout dinner) the experience was beyond disappointing!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!"

  • "Night out to celebrate daughter's completion of her esthiology program. She had the scallops, which were perfectly prepared and succulent. She also loved the sauce and accompaniments. The rest of us had: crab cakes, swordfish tacos and Baja burger. Everyone agreed their food was very good. Atmosphere was trendy, casual. And the server was friendly, efficient a food service was fast, even on a Friday night."

  • "I would stick to burger and sandwiches. The entree are overpriced and not that well prepared for the price. Salmon was over cooked and pork tenderloin was under cooked, two things that are not that hard to get right. The burgers and sandwiches are much better and very reasonably priced. The service is great and very friendly."

  • "When I first walked into the restaurant I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful host. Once seated, I was greeted by the waitstaff. A very friendly and helpful staff. New Year's Eve is always a busy night for a restaurant but it didn't seem like that because the staff was so attentive and helpful. The food was good, especially the dessert, a chocolate almond cake. Delicious and would order it again. I liked my steak tacos but I think I would try something different the next time I was in. My date really liked his burger. Overall, a great experience and we would be happy to come again and recommend to others."

  • "We were looking for a lower key NYE dining spot and this was the perfect choice. The Eat Shop staff brought hourly glasses of bubbly around to toast the New Year as it rolled across the globe. Fun touch. The food was great - we enjoyed the Cuban Burger, Salmon, Hanger Steak and the Salmon Special (deep fried!). This is such a great neighborhood location. Staff is super friendly and we've always enjoyed our meals here."
