Eastern StandardSuper tasty, real niceWhiskey Smashes and Rigatoni in a cast iron skillet with super great lamb sausage. Totally into it. Also, I think they exclusively hire handsome people because gd.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Boston restaurant!Eastern standard is a delight: delicious and innovative offerings, stellar cocktails and great service. It's a great spot for visitors to sample Boston's restaurant scene without giving in to pretentiousness. After your first meal there, you'll understand why it's always so busy.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWill come againGreat atmosphere with a good noise level - allowed for energy but also privacy. Decor was up market but casual. Didn't get to use the bar or the raw bar, but both looked fantastic. Service was a little slow to get our initial drinks order, and our time was limited, so we ordered everything at once, but it was handled beautifully with timing, and all the food was delicious (starter of wagyu meatballs, mains of Halibut (perfect portion, lovely flavors) and pasta (delicious but a little oily and huge size), sides of spinach and mash potato. Right price for the whole package - will recommend to friends and will come again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing DrinksLove going to Eastern Standard. The Service is top notch and the cocktail list is first rate!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA Paris Terrace at Kenmore SquareThe menu is both standard and original, interesting, but not over the top and the wines are always good. The heated outdoor terrace with the bustle of Kenmore Square summons a Parisian cafe. Inside, the "train station" decor is successful but the exuberant noise of many diners and drinkers can be a problem.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Times!I was given a gift card to Eastern Standard for my birthday, and what a great birthday meal! The steak was excellent, the arugula salad w/parmesan was too. My husband had a fancy drink that he loved. Waitress was funny and attentive, and the other waiters brought out our food with a flourish. A great place to dine!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFun dinnerVery nice food and an energetic atmosphere. Bar area was hopping.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and food.Excellent service and food. We were given a private room; very comfortable and roomy for eight. All the dishes were excellent and very fresh, especially the fish, oysters, shrimp and vegetables. The Polenta Cake and veggies entree was a standout. Especially enjoyed the Flat Iron Steak; done perfectly medium (not too rare) as ordered, very flavorful. Our server, a young woman named Erica, was especially attentive and helpful, really made our graduation party special.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMStopped for brunch beforeStopped for brunch before a Red Sox game. Fresh raw bar, good offerings of breakfast and lunch menu items. Good cocktail and beer selection. Very busy on the Sunday we went and as a result service could have been better. A bit pricey but food was very good. Will definitely return.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOur go-to restaurantEastern Standard is our go-to restaurant in the Fenway area, and always make reservations there prior to heading to a game at Fenway park. Eastern Standard has wonderful, scrumptious food. The flat iron steak is flavorful and delicious. The wine list is fantastic and server makes great suggestions based on your food selection and personal wine preferences. Servers are knowledgable, efficient and very friendly. Be prepared to spend a little, as prices are on the higher side--but food, drink and service are well worth the price. A fantastic overall experience.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI ordered the rib eye andI ordered the rib eye and it was horrible. Not worth it for $35 dish. The sauce was good. My wife had the fish and it was great and the bread pudding dessert was awesome.Cocktail was great. The best out of all the experience was our server Maggie.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always treated like a starAs always treated like a star even though I am not one. Great service, perfect prepared food and always just a really nice evening. I go back, again and again.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place but not what you expectGreat late lunch before the Sox game. Terrific beer list. One warning. Food is delicious but presentation is an important part of the deal here. Sandwich and fries was not a large serving, probably the correct amount health wise, but just do not expect a collosal burger etc. Also, onion soup was delcious but when it came to the table it did not look the onion soup I was expecting even though waitress made me think that is what I was ordering. But everything was delicious.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThree friends of mine andThree friends of mine and myself went to Eastern Standard before a Sox game and had a very nice dinner. Cocktails were good and the food was as well. The cocktail shrimp has a consistency that hinted that they were at least on extremely cold ice before hand for a while or perhaps had been frozen. Not the best. Although the food was very good, the menu was somewhat limited. For a place at that level and price, I would expect a NY strip offering and a second seafood option other than salmon. Our waiter was very, very good, however, so that was nice. And the valet option for $30 was a real bonus so that we didn't have to park somewhere (for more money, probably $40) and walk there and then to the game. Over all I'd say check it out.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFour of us went to celebrateFour of us went to celebrate a birthday, and it was a great choice. They had a nice variety of wines at different price points to choose from, and we chose a reasonable bottle of Sancerre that was very nice. Three of us chose the striped sea bass and all of us loved it; the one person who chose flat iron steak was also very happy. The menu here isn't the most innovative in Boston, but we find this to be an always reliable place for a really good dinner.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and locationOutstanding food and location close to Red Sox games.
Service was special and prompt-everyone was very attentive, but didn't rush our time.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEach member of our 7-personEach member of our 7-person party had a divine meal.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a really nice dinner hereHad a really nice dinner here after the Boston marathon.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for brunch on Patriot'sWent for brunch on Patriot's Day. Breakfast menu is limited (I think 3-4 items), but the food pretty good. Bloody Marys are the some of the best around.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. You can neverLove this place. You can never go wrong with Eastern Standard! perfect for every occasion.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, lunch was fantastic.Overall, lunch was fantastic. The ES Chopped Salad was delicious and a decent sized portion. My only complaint was that the waiters stopped by perhaps too often to ask how things were. Other than that, the food was excellent and quick.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant had a lotThis restaurant had a lot to offer, including a wonderful brunch menu, servers that made us feel like royalty, and a vibrant but still somehow intimate environment. The one complaint I had was that we made a reservation on Open Table for noon, and when we arrived right on time, we were told our table was due to be ready soon because the people at the table had just received their check. Unfortunately, it was nearly 20 minutes later that we were actually seated, and while that may have been O.K. given a busy Sunday brunch time, the fact that another couple was offered a table before us, though they were only on the waiting list for tables, we were a little annoyed. Otherwise, a great place.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMES has always been one ofES has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the city! The drinks are incredible, the atmosphere is perfectly energetic, and the foood.......I can never decide what I want to get! It's all delicious! Bravo, once again.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile the company was theWhile the company was the best part of our dinner here, the food came in a close second. Highly recommend the bologniase, frisee salad delightful, desserts really worth the calories. The drinks were a lot of fun, but where are the bourbon cocktails?4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThey do everything rightThis is one of the best restaurants in the Boston area. You will not find this combination of service, warmth, attention to detail, and quality of food and wine anywhere else. This wait staff is simply the best in the city.
I've been to O Ya, Cleo, Uni, and other amazing restaurants in the city. The atmosphere created at those places just can't match ES for warmth. At ES, they make you feel special. The food is simple, but extremely well executed. They get wines on the list that are unusual and hard to find; they may not have your favorite four-figure Burgundy, but they have something that you will love and will surprise you, and their sommeliers really know their business.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHad drink and an amazing dinnerHad drink and an amazing dinner with friends and a former student and everything was perfect. The food was amazing and the atmosphere perfect. We were seated when we arrived for our reservation and we were never for want when it came to the service.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFABULOUS dinner! The lobsterFABULOUS dinner!
The lobster bisque was amazing, the bone marrow is not to be missed, the pork chop is fantastic!!
Great wine, great service - loved it!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood & service were excellent!Food & service were excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant. We enjoyed it so much we went back a second night!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDining by the Eastern StandardWhat an experience - we enjoyed a savory appetizer of razor clams, bacon and lemon butter. Choosing the grilled tenderloin, with a blue cheese beignet, spinach and potato au gratin as an entree. All the flavors worked beautifully together, with each bite better than the next. To finish, we ordered the butterscotch bread pudding which was melt-in-your-mouth simply divine. Great service, versatile drink menu. Needless to say, we'll be back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI think its known for beingI think its known for being a hotspot, but early in the morning on the weekends this place is exactly what I want it to be: a quiet and mellow place to meet for breakfast before heading on with my day.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, we had a wonderfulAs always, we had a wonderful evening at Eastern Standard. Our only bit of criticism was the food, which was a little off the usual high standards. Drinks were outstanding as was the service!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery, very good!We had a wonderful evening! Our food was very good plus! Our server was always nearby, but never obtrusive.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for Restaurant Week.We went for Restaurant Week. Ambience was upbeat and classy.
The duck confit and fish tacos were excellent. Caesar
salad w/ minimally cut lettuce seemed odd? or work to eat. One waitress
was rude but another was attentive and very good.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEastern Standard sets ALLEastern Standard sets ALL standards. This restaurant is a staple of Boston dining and drinking. Great food, great drinks, great service. Make it a point to eat here, you will become a regular.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable- but wish they didEnjoyable- but wish they did a Restaurant week dinner menu as well as lunch. Also, note when you are waiting at the bar, they text you and dont tell you they are going to, then then give away your table (we arrived 20 mins early and didndt get seated until 45mins AFTER our reservation because they texted and I wasn't looking at my phone (which I believe you should NOT have out at a bar with friends!)3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere and consistentlyGreat atmosphere and consistently delicious food. The buger is fantastic and the fries that accompany it are some if the best I've ever had. The sticky toffee pudding is also not to be missed.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFavourite Place in BostonHands down this is my favourite restaurant in Boston. I come here several times as I work in the area and am never let down. The service is impecable and such attention to detail - it is amazing. Super friendly staff. Such a cool place to eat and the menu never fails. You will not regret going here.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for dinner mtg or casualThe meal overall was amazing, but the best part of the meal was dessert! The bread pudding was to die for good!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMwe met friends on a sloppy,we met friends on a sloppy, snowy day for a 5 hour lunch. There were very few other diners so it was quiet and service was attentive and they didn't rush us at all. The decor is clubby but with a high ceiling -quite attractive. Gorgeous long bar with bar tables too. Must be lovely in good weather with the patio. Oysters were fresh and pasta dishes inventive. We had a lovely time and would go back in a flash.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, creative drinkExcellent food, creative drink list, knowledgeable waitress - great experience!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen we knew we were goingWhen we knew we were going to be late to our reservation, I was able to call 15 minutes early & make an extension. When we arrived, we found Eastern Standard to be very full yet we were still given great seats. We were seated immediately--the staff was very kind & answered our questions knowledgeably. Food came out relatively quickly & was served in healthy portions. At the end of the night my girlfriend received a complementary dessert for her birthday, complete with a lit candle & the words "Happy Birthday!" written on the plate in chocolate drizzle. The atmosphere & menu definitely suits an older audience, given the extensive drink menu & the amount of 21+ individuals in attendance. Would come again for dinner & drinks with friends. :)3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAbove all, the service wasAbove all, the service was outstanding. The food was very good and prepared as requested- it is high class bistro food. I have been there many times with colleagues at lunch and it is indeed a rare find these days to have a decent place for lunch. The wine list while short had an outstanding Bordeaux at a reasonable price.
The only negative is the noise level. Not only is the noise caused by the crowd that is talking, but there is a background "music" at an incredibly loud volume. I can converse with my neighbor but talking to someone across the table is almost impossible.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, service, & music!Delightful food - the salmon was wonderful as was the charcuterie platter - the calamari was perfect as well. Came here for a birthday lunch and was not disappointed.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Birthday!I took my boyfriend here for his birthday once I realized they have an AMAZING beer list. Great craft beer selection, both on draft, in bottles and 22's/750's. I had always known of Eastern Standard, but some how expected it to have traditional (boring) high end food & drinks. Their food is anything but boring, everything was exceptional, beer, wine & liquor lists were amazing. They take their food & drink quite seriously!
I had put a note in when I made my res. on open table that it was the gentleman's birthday. They did not miss the note, & while I saw no sign they were scheming, his dessert came out with cursive chocolate 'happy birthday' & a bonus ice cream bowl our waiter thought paired well with his beer choice. Great experience!2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second trip toThis was our second trip to Eastern Standard and again we were not disappointed. From the greetings at the door to the excellent service (which included being remembered from several months ago... who does that!?) we thought the staff were spot-on and very helpful. The food never disappoints no matter what you order off the menu and the drinks are fantastic and they don't skimp on the alcohol! I would highly recommend Eastern Standard if you're in Kenmore Square! It's got good fine dining and a lively bar scene. An excellent stop any time of the day!2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place has it all: greatThis place has it all: great seafood, great brunch, great drinks. I highly recommend ordering from the raw bar, even for brunch. Scratch that: ESPECIALLY for brunch!12/16/2012 12:00:00 AM
