My friend and I had lunch here, wanting to try something new for the event formerly known as "Restaurant Week." We selected from the prix fix menu. I loved the course offerings and carefully prepared seasonally appropriate dishes. The wine was equally delicious. Our server, Erica, was lovely. I was surprised to learn they'd been there for years and look forward to returning.

First time here. The Steak Tartar is fantastic and the menu took off from there. The hanger steak was only ok and we expected more but otherwise we got there late and the food was yummy overall and inventive. The salad dressing was fabulous and the ribeye very well executed. Great selection of wines and beer. Always a struggle to find great food late at night and Eastern Standard delivered.

We have been at Eastern Standard many times before. This time we were very disappointed. Although the service was good, it was noisy, the music and the ambience were pitched to twenty-something-year-olds, and the food was not very good. The broccoli is grilled: this isn't a good way to prepare broccoli. The rigatoni dish my wife had was flavorless, just a festival of carbs and cheese with some peas thrown in for color.

My boyfriend and I booked this place for our 6 month celebration and it was absolutely perfect! The servers were notified of our special occasion and went above and beyond for us. Mara, our server, brought us a champagne toast to accompany our appetizer. She was knowledgeable of everything on the menu and was able to recommend dishes and wine for each of us. The food was amazing, the jazz was at the perfect volume, cocktails were spectacular and service was unforgettably good!

Went here for a belated birthday lunch with a friend. It was amazing. From the kind woman I called to let her know we were running late, to our sever, to the smiling faces at the door everyone was lovely. We couldn't decide between starting with charcuterie or streak tartare so our server had a small tartare added to our charcuterie board. So sweet! The waitress suggested a cocktail that was EXACTLY what my friend wanted and she was very attentive without being clingy. The charcuterie was amazing, and a great value! The flat iron streak was pretty good for an OK cut of meat (maybe a bit pepper heavy) and the breaded chicken salad was perfectly spiced making what seamed like an ordinary dish extraordinary. Can't wait to come back!!!

I have been to Eastern Standard on several occasions for both lunch and dinner and I have always been impressed. They have an excellent and reasonably priced wine list, a very nice menu with a wide variety of options and the service is always very professional. Weather permitting the outdoor dining is entertaining, believe it not it is not too noisy and it is fun watching all the action on Kenmore Square.

First, we loved the bar -- very lively, and excellent cocktails. The food was disappointing. A bit overpriced to start. More important, it seemed like each dish had one or two more ingredients than necessary. The pork chop, for example, while a good cut, tasted too much like smoke and seasoning. the flavor of the pork lost out. The trout's flavor was similarly overwhelmed with seasoning.

I made our reservations a week in advance for a weeknight at 7:15. The Sox were in town. We expected to valet the car. We were in an accident on the way in. Not our fault and the car was still drivable so we continued. We were looking forward to a night in Boston. I was unaware you needed to make a reservation for the valet. We were told they had no room for our car. 10 minutes later they made an exception. We were seated outside. For appetizers we had calamari. It was the best I've ever had. I had the standard burger. It comes with fries and both were amazing. My boyfriend had steak. We ordered the macaroni and cheese and carrots as a side. From start to finish everything was wonderful. I highly recommend the drink called Floradora.

Whenever I have tickets to a Red Sox home game, love to hit this spot pre and post-game. Lively Bistro-esque atmosphere, peppy music, yuppies and dyed-in-the-wool Bostonians mile with tourists and college kids alike. Great food. Husband and I shared a perfectly cooked steak, with light béarnaise, LOVE their rendition of an upscale Romaine wedge salad, and the onion dip and chips was a yummy appetizer. Never have had a bad meal, although during high traffic times (like baseball games) don't expect waiters to hover over you - its a busy and crowded spot - for a good reason.

I have eaten at Eastern Standard many times before ballgames and have always found the food to be very good. Our last visit was a surprise; the sandwiches were sparse, dry, and bland, much like you might find in a day old cold case. Tried the peach salad, which would likely have been delicious if the peaches had been ripe. Hope this was just a bad night in the kitchen and creeping decline.

I used to frequent Eastern Standard quite regularly. The food is great and filling. However, the service has been abysmal. It took our group over an hour to get drinks and appetizers and our waiter switched multiple times. It is obviously a very popular brunch spot. Yet the menu was strange. No eggs benedict, no omelettes. What??? The waitress agreed to have an omelette made for me which was nice, but really, no eggs benedict for brunch? Also, my son ordered an egg dish that was supposed to be a loose tomato sauce with easy over fried eggs in it, but the whole thing came out dried out and overcooked. Someone obviously left it under the broiler way too long but then the chefs sent it out anyway. The waitress, who was fantastic, immediately took it back and gave him a free fruit salad while he waited.
