  • "Walking in the door feels like stepping into a lively Paris brasserie - the ambiance is great. Without exception, every Interaction we had with the staff was friendly and professional, especially our server. Our food was delicious: we shared steammed mussels to start and we both had the flat iron steak and fries. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because we had to send one steak back for being overly salted. But without skipping a beat it was handled quickly and redone perfectly. We finished with a shared serving of tasty ice cream and very good coffee.I can't wait to return!"

  • "On one of the first spring-like evenings this year, a friend and I had dinner at Eastern Standard. Our table happened to be beneath an air conditioning blower (this is March, mind you) that was blasting cold air. We asked the waitress to have the cold air turned down, but it continued to blow throughout the meal despite her promises to turn it down. The food was ok, although the gloppy sauercrautish veges beneath the Pollack were cold from the breeze, so dinner wasn't an entire success. It is tough to go to a restaurant and pay for a nice evening out, only to get attitude. I hope ES will try harder next time and listen to patrons who ask politely for comfort while they dine."

The room is lovely in a bustling French bistro way, the lighting appealingly low, the food well-exectued, tasty and thoughtfully presented. The service we experienced, which would be impressive any day of the week, was truly amazing on a hopping Friday night. Timing was perfect and the level of attention (a taste of the wine before ordering a full glass, checking oyster condiment supplies) made us feel happy to spend our dining dollars there. The staff is very well trained and the little touches - bussers scooting out your way with a smile so you can pass easily, for example - are such a refreshing change from places where staff doesn't seem to care about or enjoy their jobs."

Drinks were out of this world. Food and drinks came very quickly and were of great quality! Would recommend brunch here to everyone! Great location and if it is nice out there is outdoor seating available. Bar scene is roomy with a lot of high top tables."

  • "After a few years of people telling me how much I would "love" Eastern Standard, and after years of one thing or another getting in the way of me going, I finally made it to ES last Tuesday, and you know what, everyone was right: I LOVE this place. Like I said in the title of my review, this is the bar I could see myself going to every day for fifty years. One night, I don't come in, the bartenders get worried, call the police, and they find my old, wrinkled corpse in my penthouse apartment (the one I'll be living in at the time, of course), and that's how my death is discovered. But seriously, this place is awesome."

  • "I've always heard fantastic things about Eastern Standard. Sadly I wasn't blown away. I went for brunch and the menus was more on the lunch side of brunch which is fine, but the burger wasn't very flavorful and the fries were extremely salty. The drinks however were very good. Our waiter didn't make much of an effort, I suspect he had a rough night or annoying customers all morning. Didn't introduce himself or welcome us to the restaurant, started by simple asking what would would like to drink. Not terrible service but didn't go out of his way. Bottom line is that while Eastern may be very good for dinner, brunch isn't there forte."

I'm never disappointed when I come here- everything is always superb from the food to the drinks to the service, I've never had a bad experience here! This was my first time having Brunch at Eastern Standard and I will be back for sure! The menu had a great selection and everything was delicious as always. I had the braised beef sandwich and my husband had the quiche both were excellent! Don’t miss out on the cocktails here they are probably the best in all of Boston, the mixologists/bartenders here are truly artists!"

The warmth and graciousness is comparable to the bistro's in Paris or Lyon. It's a terrific place to go any time after 7:30 when the Red Sox are in town. (Before 7:30, it is too crowded.)"

When I made the reservation I asked if they could pop a candle in her dessert and they did one better by bringing over a custard donut with green frosting (friends birthday is on Saint Pat's) with a candle along with a chocolate Happy Birthday message written on the plate. The blueberry pancakes we're delicious! Ordered eggs over medium and they were perfect. E.S went above and beyond plus their food was great so I'll definitely be back. :)"

The beer list had been recently expanded, and included the recent Spencer Trappist Ale, and the wine list now spans two menus, one for full bottles, and one for by the glass or half-bottle. The entrees were prepared perfectly, and the desserts were delicious. But the highlight was truly the flight of dessert wines - a must-try!"

  • "Eastern Standard is one of those restaurants that you really want to be good. It stands out in Kenmore Square, and you would really hope that the food would stand out too. However, this is not the case. I have been a few times now, and every time I did not order the Burger I wished I had. The other offerings on the menu sound good when you read about them, but thus far I have never had anything I have enjoyed except the burger. Drinks are good. Ambiance is good. Service is good. Food is so-so. Also, it is just a bit more expensive than it should be. Dinner for two for $85 including tip. Just too much for ES."

  • "Not a great choice unless you are a red meat eater. Very limited choices in the non meat area. I had the half chicken. It was a huge portion and the chicken was very good, but it was served only with a few carrots and some very tough kale. For $26. It would have been nice to have an additional side or something more edible than the kale. Service was excellent. Restaurant was packed so others must enjoy the food more than I did. At one time I thought the food was great and there were more choices for someone who does not like red meat. That is not the case now. I won't be back."

  • "The valet service at Eastern Standard was extremely professional and helped to start our night out in a positive way. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better night. The food was delicious and the wait staff was on top of everything, always making sure we had everything we needed. The drink menu, wine list and beer list were very impressive and had something for everyone. The birthday dessert that my boyfriend ordered was on the house and delicious!"
