  • "Delicious food. Healthy options available but hard to pass on the lobster poutine. Great local draft beer selections."

  • "We always enjoy a dinner here. Upstairs dining room has a nice vibe. Servers are friendly and competent. Menu isn't fancy, but the food is very good."

  • "Lots of great options here! The East Ender shows creativity in their menu options... everything from the specialty drinks and appetizers to the salads and entrees is prepared with a slight twist. The results are delicious! You will not be disappointed. Great service. The waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. I will definitely come back!"

  • "I'd highly recommend thus restaurant. We had trout fritters and their salmon dish which was cooked perfectly. Also gad cheesy cauliflower and Brussel sprouts. All food was thumbs up! We had a 6:00 reservation and it was quiet but by 7:00 all tables were full and the place was hoppin."

  • "The last few times we went here we really really wanted to enjoy it but did not. Lets start with drinks. They have a great drinks list so why was my margarita from a mix? It was even frothy from the shaking. Ordered nachos as appetizer, then 10 minutes later ordered pork sliders and a salad as our dinner. Even said "We will have nachos as appetizer". All food came out at once. Sliders did not have cheese. Buns were stale. Polyester napkins were the deal breaker. Will not come back."

  • "Went here on a Monday night. The food was solid, their nachos and lobster poutine were amazing while their calamari was nothing special, also had an above average burger, but not good enough to make me want to come back for it. We had a mixed bag of drinks, they had a tasty cider, their rickey was good, but then I had a ginger beer drink that tasted like you were chewing straight ginger. Ambience was good too, small and cozy, but the place was empty on a Monday night, would be interested to see what its like on a Friday or Saturday, I could see it getting crowded and loud. Our waiter was fine, took orders and brought us drinks in a timely manner and checked in frequently enough, but overall was forgettable."

  • "My boyfriend and I ate here when visiting Portland for the first time over Valentines Day/President's Day weekend. I booked the reservation a few days before for 9:30 because we got in late from the train, and we were seated immediately. Despite our late reservation, the restaurant was packed when we came in. We had the Lobster Nachos and we both got the main steak dish. They were both absolutely delicious and hit the spot for two weary travelers. Our server was great - she talked through all the beers they had with us and checked in often (but not too often) to make sure we were doing alright. She offered a lot of insight into the menu, helping us make main course and dessert decisions. I would highly recommend East Ender!"

  • "My husband and I made reservations for Valentine's day, we had heard great things about the East Ender! We weren't looking for an over the top extravagant fancy dinner, just somewhere the two if could relax with some drinks and yummy food! We found it! We shared a few of the smaller plates and it worked out great, we got to try different things! We did the Mac n' Cheese, Steak Sliders, Broccoli Fritters and fries! It was perfect! We ended our meal with the carrot cake which was delicious! Server was friendly and attentive, so all in all, we celebrated Valentine's Day just the way we wanted!"

  • "We had a delicious dinner and our service was excellent. They didn't rush us and offered good advice on food. It's a comfortable ambiance. The main dining room is upstairs though, so if you're not good with stairs, ask to be seated downstairs in your reservation."

  • "Chose the East Ender for dinner prior to attending a performance at Merrill Auditorium. Parking can be an issue, especially in winter but we located a spot in front on the street. A beautiful old building awaited us. We climbed the steep stairs to the dining room and it is worth it! Comfortable, relatively quiet, and attractive. Waitress was very helpful, taking the time to explain menu items as this was our first visit. Choices range from sliders to hanger steak and include enough options to please most. Great local beer choices! Food was very good and the 3 of us decided we won't wait so long to return!"

  • "Had a great dinner for my boyfriends birthday. Our server was Grace, she was also training a new server (forgot her name) we had great service and as always, a great meal. This is our go to spot for date nights and special occasions."

  • "We came for one of my friend's birthdays for a light fare and happy hour. They had a nice selection for wine and cocktails. I was always impressed with the East Ender and their food display for a large party I attended a couple week backs. The staff is very friendly and down to earth. The infused vodka cocktails are also delightful. Their food menu is unique but delicious"

  • "This was my third time going there and I love the East Ender every time! Their food is fun, creative and delicious. I have yet to have something that wasn't fantastic! Yum!"

  • "We went to east ender on a nite that was -26 wind chill. They were going to close early, but they stayed open for my wife & I. Food was fun and good. Brussels sprouts were great as were fritters. Food fresh and not over seasoned. Good beer an d wine lists. It was worth the cold walk."

  • "The food at the East Ender is always fantastic. On the last visit we had the trout fritters and the egg salad sliders. Both were great. The ambience is perfect for a casual meal with friends or your sweetheart. The downstiars is small and cozy. A couple tables are not much more than coffee tables with some comfy chairs around them. The fireplace is a welcome treat on a cold snowy winter day. This is a must try for any first time Portland visitors. This place is part of why Portland is known as a restaurant mecca."

  • "I took my staff here for a holiday dinner. They always go to the same places and LOVED everything about Eastender! However our server was less than desirable.Apparently is a bartender who also waits tables and had no personality. Loved that the wines were half price on this day and did not know until we arrived. Our 1st wine was a Chardonnay named "butter" and was fantastic. ($36) The 2nd was a french Chardonnay which I thought was listed as $20 before discount. It was too sweet and none of us really liked it and told the server. Then the bill came and it was a $50 bottle and at half price it was still $25. I was horrified and asked the waiter and he said "you never know and sometimes that more expensive bottle just is not as good"."

  • "My son, wife, and I went to this restaurant last Friday night. It was our first visit and will not be our last. They have a great selection of craft beers and we helped ourselves. We had crab cakes to start which were very good. My wife ordered a salad and a pepperoni pizza and I ordered a pizza with squash and cheese. My son had a club sandwich of some sort, I think and he loved it. The pizza is not that good and I would avoid it. I think the next time we will have a sandwich. I love the location (used to be Norm's) and the ambience is nice."

  • "Took a group there for dinner - wait staff was inattentive and distracted, but the food was great and the atmosphere was great. Would go again for the calamari and some of the other menu items."

  • "A great dinner for girls night out. We split some appetizers (make sure you try the deviled eggs!), a salad, and each had our own entree. The diver scallops were to die for and the Surf and Turf burger lived up to its reputation."

  • "Really terrible. Been there before and it was good. Not this time."

  • "This restaurant did a good job handling our large party of 14. They ran out of two min items at 6:15 on a Saturday night, not a good sign. Food was okay, great deal of deep fried food, Asian, and just seemed like a mismatched menu. Lobster Poutine was good."

  • "Have previously had exceptional meals (pulled pork entree) however this time everything was incredibly salty to the point that the braised short rib was in edible."

  • "The food is good and dependable as well as the service. A good place to go with friends who want a variety of food options for $ to $$$. A bit loud and a little on the chilly side."

  • "In the past we have had fish and chips there and they really were great. Tonight they were out and everyone in a party of four ordered something different. Mediocre food at best, way overpriced for what it was. Took an hour for food to come out even though place was half empty. Sad disappointment, want my money and evening back. But go for the fish and chips if they have them."

  • "Ok atmosphere and service but not worth the price, small portions and everything was way too salty!"

  • "We ate upstairs. We got the highly touted lobster nachos but they just didn't do it for us - they were good but not awesome. The burger was great. Salads were delicious. All in all a good Monday night out."

  • "The lobster nachos were worth the price of admission. We also shared a pizza and pulled pork sliders. All were yummy. We had a great waitress and sat upstairs, which we liked better than the first floor space."

  • "I'm not sure how we missed this place, but it is definitely worth a visit. We visited with 2 teens and although there were few children there, it was great for all of us. Nice ambience. Bar downstairs and restaurant up a steep flight of stairs. We sat upstairs where it was spirited, but not ovewhelmingly noisy the way it can be some places. There was a robust selection of food choices. I will probably come again and next time order a selection of starters rather than an entree as there was no possibility of finishing both an appetizer and entree due to the large portion sizes, and we preferred our appetizers and bar menu items to the standard menu items. Trout fritters and the polenta were particularly amazing. Crab cakes were huge."

  • "I discovered the East Ender last year when I had guests visiting my business. The restaurant is located near the hotel they were staying at (Hampton Inn across the street). The three of us had a great evening of food and drink. We ate at the bar upstairs. Since then I have returned several times with friends and had a great meal each time. This weekend I visited again on a Friday night and had a delicious meal of the Mushroom Risotto while my guest had the brisket. There was a large wedding party seated upstairs so it was busy and loud (but pleasant) and we were still served promptly. We also both had salads that were fresh and tasty. The service was attentive and friendly but not constantly checking on us like at some places."
