We went to East End Kitchen on a
tip that it is a "Neighborhood Gem". Unfortunately, it felt more like a glorified cafeteria than any kind of gem. The food was fine, not great, but the service was ridiculously bad. With so many good restaurants in the neighborhood (and some fine diners as well), I will neither be going back nor be recommending East End Kitchen."

This friendly restaurant, just off
East End Avenue, is a great neighborhood find. No nonsense, tasty food along with the convenient location all work. While I have been there quite often for dinner, it is the lunch and brunch that I find to be their strength. Good omelets, burgers and sandwiches. Yesterday I had the crab cake sliders that were very good. All in all, it is a favorite neighborhood get together place."

Stumbled onto this place recently
for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Killer Bloody Mary's which are the mark of a good brunch spot! Had a few gluten free people in the party and they were very accommodating! Would highly recommend!"

A great neighborhood restaurant.
Excellent food, reasonably priced"

I love coming to this restaurant.
I have lived in the neighborhood for several years, and only discovered this place about 2 months ago. I can't stop coming back! It is a great spot, well off the beaten path. The food is great, the decor is adorably country, and you can't beat 1/2 off bottles of wine on Monday and Tuesday night. The brunch entrees are great as well. I have now come here with friends, girls brunch, and a date. All were wonderful!"

We have been there a handful of
times so far and the food has been great every time and they are very accommodating to my wife's food allergies."
Dined on 2/14/2014
All the food was delicious. Maybe
skip dessert though as it was just ok."

We have been to EEK several times
for brunch and dinner. We always enjoy it and think it is a great restaurant. I have a few comments, good and bad about our most recent visit. My wife had the pork and peaches menu entree and it was excellent, flavorful, interesting, and a great presentation. I had one of the specials, halibut wrapped in prosciutto, and am sad to say the fish was overcooked and very dry. I had high hopes and was quite disappointed. Since we have had so many good meals there I would still go back, probably wont order fish, but the menu has many appealing options. Of note, the service was terrific. Our waiter, Lloyd, is very good at his job. He has served us before and he is always pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive."

My husband and I were going out
with another couple and we wanted a restaurant hat was casual, quiet & not hideously pricey. It fit the bill. Service was really good (we had a very serious waiter), everything came out as it was suppose to. We were not rushed (on a Saturday night). Menu had a broad appeal. We had fried artichoke hearts (delicious), salads (pretty good), duck, salmon, scallops and mussels (All very good)My mussels though tasty, were not hot. I could have sent it back but chose not to. Doubt it would have been a problem. It is a pretty restaurant, warm and inviting. Cost per couple was about $185, though not cheap, felt appropriate, we had three bottles of wine and some mixed drinks. Didn't order dessert, so can't comment ."

I have eaten at East End Kitchen
many times, once for lunch but mostly early dinners. On each occasion I have been very satisfied with the quality and taste of the food and especially the very accomodating friendly but not intrusive staff. I guess I am an old fogey but I do appreciate the unpretentious no frills warmth of the place."

Loved the place, such a nice
environment for a quiet friday brunch and the decor was really lovely. The ONLY disappointment was granola -- it was basically oats and a bit of fresh fruit like anyone could do at home. It was pretty shocking actually. But my friend had an eggs dish and it was delicious. We concluded the place was great for any food dish apart from the granola/breakfast options."

Just the kind of place you want to
have in the neighborhood--excellent food and drinks, regular specials and deals, as comfortable as being at home."

The menu seldom changes. The food
is pretty standard. Just noticed: they charge for a iced tea refill. A forgettable restaurant."

We stumbled upon East End Kitchen
by chance and made a reservation on OpenTable for brunch. The brunch fare was delicious - specifically the brunch pizza and huevos rancheros. Omlette made to order was also tasty! We ordered a side of the mac 'n cheese which was so-so (it would have been better baked with breadcrumbs versus pasta in a cheese sauce). We ordered the waffle for dessert, which was not as fluffy or crispy as we craved, but still satiating at the end of a meal. The service was a little slow, but overall, it was a great experience and would definitely go back!"

Have eaten here many times and
everything is excellent every time."

The restaurant was packed... The
service was awful and they ran out of glasses for drinks. We waited about 20 minutes just for our drinks! The servers just kept saying they "are swamped". No excuse - properly run and busy nyc restaurants know how to deal w a crowd. The food was good but not good enough to go back and have to deal with the poor service again."

We made a reservation for 9.30 on
New Year's Eve, when the restaurant was serving a set menu from 5.30 to midnight. We had to ask to have our coats checked and realized that most people had their coats on their chairs. There were no table cloths. It was my understanding that the menu included soup, apetizer, main course and desert, but once there you had to pick either the soup or the apetizer. We felt totally rushed. Fiftheen minutes after arriving three different staff came to take away our first course before we were finished. My companion found her risotto inedible, and they did offer to give her something else. We were out of there in one hour and 15 min, therefore we were not offered the second glass of champagne included in the menu."

We kept telling ourselves we would
have to try East End Kitchen and some last minute plans with friends found us there. I am sorry we waited so long! Great service, great food, energetic and we will be back - Bravo!"
Dined on 12/28/2013
Overall was good, would not have
gone in due to Be grade but nowhere else. Menu hasn't changed all that much either, still a good neighborhood place to go to."
Dined on 12/27/2013
Have been several times for lunch
but this was a first in the evening. Nice menu and decently priced wine list. Prompt friendly service, especially for a busy Thursday night. Experience was slightly marred by a plate far too hot to touch, let alone eat from. Notwithstanding that my food was undercooked....al dente does not mean crunchy. There is a need for a good neighborhood go to restaurant, so these minor complaints which can easily be addressed should not deter future visits: it was after all a very busy night"

We've now passed our ten visit
mark and East End Kitchen continues to hit the mark every time. Friendly and welcoming from the moment one reaches the host desk to the last "see you next time", consistently excellent food abd a relaxed setting conspire to make the entire experience you will want to repeat again and a again, as we do."

We're neighbors & eat here often.
The food is consistently good & the service is consistently bad. This week my 2 well behaved foodie kids (10 and 12) went. after we ordered our waiter never checked in with us. Each time we wanted something, more water, another glass of wine, etc., I had to flag someone down to get him. He seems annoyed. When I asked him for a plate of pickles for one of the burgers, he had the gaul to roll his eyes; he said ok and walked off, then another server brought the pickles. He would walk up behind me to see if we were still eating but never bothered to ask how things were or if we needed anything...despite the fact that my wine glass was empty. Get it together guys or you'll have to find a new 'hood."

East End Kitchen filled the bill
for a low key, relaxed spot on a Tuesday evening visit in Manhattan. Our coats were taken, we were seated and waited on promptly. The menu reflected a variety of well made bistro dishes and sides. Everyone in our party of 3 enjoyed their meal choices. The cocktails were perfect and as a bonus, the bottle of wine was half price on Tuesdays. The noise level was not excessive, so that we could hold a very pleasant conversation which made for a lovely unhurried evening out."
Dined on 12/17/2013
This spot is in the neighborhood
and it never disappoints. The service was impeccable - helpful, but also quiet, seamless, and unobtrusive. All dishes were delicious - fried artichokes (yum!), pork 'n' peaches, duck breast, ravioli, gorgeous salads. As always it was a really enjoyable night."

We had a wonderful evening with
friends at East End Kitchen. We could hear each other across the table, lots if space, charmingly decorated. But the food was the star. All 4 of us had a different entrée and all were delicious. We had the salmon, the seared tuna on lentils, the scallops and the steak with mashed potatoes. We had a wide ranged on wines by the glass to choose to pair with our different choices. Our waiter was fantastic and anticipated our every need. We will be returning many times."

We went for a brunch this past
Sunday and really enjoyed ourselves. We arrived just as they opened for brunch. Service was excellent, really good food and a nice atmosphere. Considering the usual tight spaces in ny, this place was very roomy. Great coffee and you have to finish your meal off with their donuts!"

This was the best dinner out we
have had in recent memory. We all three enthused about our entrees and the beer and twos ex drinks were outstanding. Our waiter was knowledgeable and fun, too. We will come back for sure!"

We often turn to East End Kitchen
for middle of the day dining - the dinner hour is busier and therefore there are more conversations around us, but for lunch it is ideal and the menu has so many choices. We have had the simple fritattas, delicious burgers, smoked salmon sandwiches, Cobb salads, mac & cheese and always found the plates well presented and well prepared. Love to have this spacious but cozy cafe in our neighborhood."

Ate here for a girls' night out
and we all absolutely loved it. Four of us had dinner and 2 more joined us for dessert and drinks after. The restaurant and service could not have been more accommodating to our shifting numbers. The food was excellent! We all had to have a bit of each other's dishes. Starters, mains, and dessert were all fantastic. Loved the soups of the night - sweet potato and asparagus, lamb was also delicious! Everyone raved about it!"

We've lived in the neighborhood
for 5 years. Tried the prior place, Le Bouef, once and, tho the food was nice, the service and decor were dismal. So we were delighted when East End Kitchen appeared. It was a bit uneven at the start, especially in terms if service, It can get noisy but it just gets better and better in terms of food and service. The chef is super talented -- the black fig, watercress and apple salad FABULOUS!"

We came from London to experience
thanksgiving and we found a charming, warm and genuine place. The food was excellent. It was a very memorable evening. We had a very happy thanksgiving."

Well done and inventive cooking
just steps from East End Avenue. The Sunday burger and a beer promotion is a great deal!"

We had dinner at the East End
Kitchen last night and it was terrific. Food was delicious, service great and the ambiance very pleasant. The prices were reasonable as well - they had a 50% off a bottle of wine on Monday night when you purchased two entrees. Our dining companion, a life-long New Yorker, said it was new to him but now on his "favorites" list.. I would definitely return."
Dined on 11/11/2013
Menu is nice. They have some good
dishes. Pricey for what you get. IE; Lobster mac "n" cheese $28 and barely any lobster. When mentioned to waiter his attitude was apathetic at best. Basically, if you live in the neighborhood it's ok, but for the money, you can go to much better restaurants in NYC or UES for that matter. Take this place off your list :)"
Dined on 11/9/2013
You should really try this place.
First of all it's the only restaurant near East End Avenue in the East 80s and secondly, it's very good. Te prices are about average for an upscale NYC eatery, but not excessively so. The presentation of the food is quite good and the ingredients seem fresh and are always tasty."
Dined on 11/9/2013
East End Kitchen is a great brunch
spot in the neighborhood, they have a wide variety of both brunch and lunch options on the menu and it's reasonably priced. All the brunch items come with coffee/tea and a brunch cocktail. Good overall spot."
Dined on 10/26/2013
The cuisine was delicious,
plentiful and beautifully presented. Our server was knowledgeable and tended to our needs. Unfortunately he did not provide ear plugs. The noise level with nothing to absorb it is horrendous. Would some- body please tell the young people that they don't have to shout!!"

We live close by and were happy to
find a place with fresh tasting food, great service and a cosy atmosphere."

The brunch at East End Kitchen is
fabulous. The food is consistently good, ingredients fresh & the portions are perfect. The only suggestion I have, order tea instead of coffee after your meal. Or, another beverage from the bar!"
