  • "On our first visit to this restaurant which came VERY highly recommended we were very thrilled with every aspect, the service, the food which was outstanding and the desserts. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "We have been coming here since they opened and have never had anything but great experiences...highly recommend!!"

  • "Keep returning every summer to this consistently excellent place. Will again return next Summer. Will spread the word."

  • "Gets a mixed crowd, not hip crowd. Not sure why and maybe refreshing for those trying to get away from that. Lakeside dining, sunset view. Fried avocado to die for"

  • "Been going here since the restaurant opened. Lots of staff changes thru the years, but consistently excellent and different dishes...sunsets are spectacular."

  • "The new menu was disappointing. The food was not special. The Duck tacos were good and my steak was good. Food shouldn't be just "good". The steak needed some kind of sauce. The spinach had no flavor and the mash potatoes had no flavor. The concept of no bread confuses me. If it is a "healthy" choice, then don't serve alcohol. I miss certain things and one of them was bread. People all around us were complaining. I understand change, but some of these choices were not good."

  • "We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. My appetizer - salmon roll - was incredible. Very fresh and delicious. My dinner - salmon with jasmine rice - was overcooked and dry. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. We will return because of the warm/friendly feeling and of course the sushi!"

  • "Mediocre food at outrageous prices. Dining room needs updating. Pretty views if windows were cleaned"

  • "We've been coming here for several years. The menu, and we assume the chef, has changed every year. Originally there was a good bit of Asian fusion, with tasty appetizers like barbequed tofu. Then more western food came in and the Asian was minimized. The barbequed tofu disappeared. This last weekend we were back and many menu items were new. Most had an Asian accent. At first we were concerned. But every dish ordered was both original and well prepared. This includes the burger, decidedly Western of course, but really tasty with provalone and chedder. Then, at $21, it should be. Local fluke was good, too. This is not an inexpensive place. But it is a nice room with lovely sunset views and good food. Still no barbequed tofu. Alas..."

  • "This is one of the few restaurants in Montauk where the noise level is quiet, the view is lovely, you can get a round table for a large party, and you don't have to kill yourself trying to get a reservation. The food is a bit inconsistent but if you stick with plain fish dishes. the duck taco's, or a burger you will be happy. I had the sushi and it was excellent."

  • "Very nicely decorated ,food was well prepared and service ws s attentive. Duck.tacos, scallops and the special that day the red snapper were very good. We lucked out in that just as we had desert a large bachelorett party was seated andthe noise level went up exponentially"

  • "The meal was good. The service was good. The view was very nice. The food was prepared well, and everything has a twist. Nothing is "standard". Be prepared for a meal that's a little "left of center". My scallops were delicious, but served on refrigerator-cold (intentionally) forbidden rice, which cooled the scallops almost immediately upon being served. Neat concept, but I would have preferred my scallops warm. The oysters were served with an interesting wasabi ice, almost like a sorbet. The fluke was delicious. It was served with a very Asian sweet-sour type sauce that was a little heavy for such a delicate fish. As noted, the food was all good, but this is not my favorite restaurant in Montauk, particularly for the cost."

  • "The restaurant is located at a perfect place, right next to a pond with amazing views from any part of the restaurant. It was my birthday dinner. I had high expectations for the place considering its ambiance and the price we pay for the food. The food is pricey but the quantities are meager. I hoping to see a menu more inline with other Asian Fusion places such as KungPao Chicken, General Tso chicken etc but none of them were on the menu. Coming to the appetizers, there were only 2 vegetarian options available. We wanted to order the spring rolls but that was replaced by a fish appetizer. The main course was OK. The place has beautiful views but I might not go back this place again. "

  • " New chef so disappointed. We eat here every time we are in Montauk. Loved the old menu. Duck tacos always amazing. No longer have lobster entree. Your're in Montauk! We want lobster! The wedge salad was an unconnected dish. Iceberg lettuce, edamame, mandarin orange slices, slivered radish, crispy wontons (ok Asian theme) then you add  goat cheese and balsamic dressing ???? Check please! Didnt stay for coffee & dessert. Great waitresses though"

  • "Great sunset views and cocktails. Service was great. Food was just OK and completely over priced. I would go back to have a drink at the bar and see the view of the lake, but not to eat. "

  • "Great atmosphere. Service could be improved. Seemed understaffed during holiday. Ran out of a couple dinner choices. Menu has plenty of options."

  • "I am a fan of ENE overall-- even had my rehearsal dinner there. Just wanted to give one piece of feedback from my recent dinner there. It is incredibly disappointing to see Montauk Clam Chowder on the menu to find out it is cream based. I naively assume that most clam chowders in Montauk are made with clams caught in the area. Please stick with the standard New England or Manhattan terminology or make it tomato based. After all, Montauk is closer to Manhattan than New England."

  • "We were very happy with our dining experience at East by Northeast. It was a very pleasant Christmas holiday dinner after a day in the Hamptons and Montauk. Everything about it was pleasing."

  • "First thing that my partner and I noticed was how quiet the restaurant was even though it was packed. Food was superb and we ordered two desserts (Yes, we are those people, but fit so we don't mind). Service was excellent, very helpful and attentive."

  • "The food blew my expectations out of the water. The Asian chicken salad special should be on the regular menu. NY Strip was cooked perfectly and was one of the best steaks I ever had. To top it off, the sun setting over the pond made the meal. Excellent restaurant."
    Dined on 10/26/2013
  • "They describe the restaurant as Pan-Aisan, so what are french fries and steak doing on the menu? It was a mish mash of random entrees and appetizers - they don't know weather to be East or North East."

  • "ENE is a great dining experience. The food was outstanding and the special dinner price fix before 6:30 is an excellent buy for the money. It will always be on my list of places to eat when I'm in Montauk."

  • "I have eaten here 4 times and I have yet to be disappointed. The food and drinks are fantastic. The sushi is fresh, steaks are cooked to perfection and the appertizers are delicious. The drinks are fabulous as well."

  • "We tried ENE a few years ago and did not have a good experience. We decided to try again, but are now zero for two. Last time we will eat here. Service was not good, 10 minutes for a glass of wine even though not busy. Out of steak and mashed potatoes on a Friday night. Had a burger, very middle of the road. $13 for an orange prosecco that was very small and terrible. My wife had 2 appetizers, I had a burger and salad and our bill was $103. Never again. Not sure how they stay in business."

  • "There are not very many restaurants in Montauk, however, this one was very good. The duck tacos were excellent as an appetizer. The only problem I had was, if you want to order a steak, it already came with a salad I didn't want. When I asked if I could order a salad off the menu instead they said no. I don't understand why a steak on a menu has to come with preset sides that can't be changed. That was alittle odd to me. But everything we did order was excellent."

  • "On our recent trip to Montauk, we were pleasantly surprised with our dinner at East by Northeast. It came highly recommended to us by a friend and it certainly did not disappoint. The view was beautiful and the food and service were excellent. I would certainly return on our next trip back."

  • "We ate dinner on Friday 9/13. The food was ok. We arrived early and took a drink out to the terrace and we also had a after dinner drink on the terrace. The drinks on the terrace were the best part of the evening. The sky was wonderful with a moon over the pond. The server was very opinionated. We wanted to know if it was wild salmon and were told it was not and anyone who tells you their salmon is wild is lying. Our fish market has wild salmon. The band set up in the bar but the music penetrated every corner of the place. We could not carry on a conversation once they started. The bar is not that large and the music could have been turned down. The folks in the bar could easily have enjoyed the band at a much lower audio level."

  • "We enjoy eating at ENE every year. The restaurant is pretty. They don't rush you as some east end places do. The food does not disappoint. We enjoy the asian influences in some of the appetizers.. the duck tacos are great. We always get the spring rolls which are very good, but a tad pricey 3 for $14. This year my husband ordered the spare ribs entree. they were delicious, but not fall-off-the-bone tender. My young daughter and I split the 22oz ribeye. At $58 we were severly disappointed! there was not much meat on it... a lot of bone. it comes with a salad that was good.. but at that price they should include some sort of potato. ENE is not very accomodating to families because it does not have a childrens menu."

  • "The appetizers were amazing! We had the mussels, duck tacos and the chicken wings. There was a group of 5 of us, everyone was really surprised how good the chicken wings were so dont miss out on those. For dinner, the table had mixed reviews, I had the tuna which was ok, two people ordered the special fish one loved it and one sent it back, the other two had the scallops and claimed it was the best meal they had in montauk!! Highly recommend going for a pre dinner drink and sitting on the front patio, ambiance was beautiful!"

  • "The food here is always wonderful, but I was less than pleased about the service during this past visit. There were 3 hostesses standing at the entryway when my party of 6 entered the restaurant with a reservation. We stood there for about 5 minutes before anyone greeted us. And the person who asked us if we had been helped was not one of the 3 hostesses standing around, but a woman from across the restaurant."
