Diner Reviews
  • "Wonderful live music on a Saturday night, I would definitely come back here again for drinks with friends at the bar. Food was good, albeit rather expensive, and the service was quick and efficient."

  • "Excellent halibit fish and chips and fish tacos. Excellent service!"

  • "We had been to Earl's at Park Meadows a few years ago and it was geat so we thought we'd try it again. They re-did the inside since the last time we went and the voices carried. then about 7 or so, a live band started, which was way too loud. You could hardly talk to the person next to you and we were seated way in the back. 7pm is the height of people eating dinner and wanting to talk to one another, not wanting to talk over a band. And lastly the food; they changed their menu over the years for the worse. They used to have a lot more choices and it was cheaper. our server was very tentative so that we liked. For what we ordered, it was way too pricey for that type of restaurant. We were all disappointed and will not go back."

  • "We've been going to Earl's for great steaks and wine for years and now they have "changed" their menu and appearance and have completely missed the mark. No longer do they serve a strip steak. If you want a steak you are left with a $34+ tiny 7 oz fillet. Not worth it. Also the vegetable selection was reduced to brussel sprouts and beets. Seriously? The nice wine selection they used to have also changed. Very limited although the Earls brand was very good. Overall, good service, poor food. Dissapointing, as this was a place I would love to take business partners. Not any more."

  • "My usual with Earl's is good, not great. My husband had a burger, said it was very good. My fish tacos were good. We usually go to Earl's when everywhere has a long wait, it's our last ditch place. The menu and food is good, but nothing that is great."

  • "Not bad. Not great, but not bad. We'll probably return."

  • "Excellent experience. Food was delicious but portions were fairly small, for the price."

  • "What seems like a nice, relaxing restaurant (lighting, decor, fireplaces) is actually very noisy from bar and music in bar. Food was not good - my steak was undercooked, returned and then overcooked so they had to start over. My husband had finished his dinner by the time mine came back out. We both had the key lime pie and it was so sour we could hardly eat it. The server was great though, and the manager apologized and comped our dinner. We will not be going back."

  • "I'm not sure I would recommend this restaurant at all. I made a reservation through Open Table specifically for 5280 / Denver Restaurant Week, and when the hostess seated us, I had to request a 5280 menu, as she seemed too busy preening herself to realize that was our reason for the visit. She sat us at a table closest to the kitchen, although booths were open and available. Our server's pleasant demeanor was artificial, and he wasn't attentive enough, nor did he anticipate our needs. Our food came arrived too quickly for us to finish our appetizer. The food was tasty, but overpriced. Overall, I was greatly disappointed with our experience, and I would not return to this restaurant."

  • "Visited Earl's as part of the Denver Restaurant Week, never having visited before. It was a good place to eat -- not fantastic, not enough to make it a "destination" restaurant ("Hey, let's go to Earl's!"), but certainly a place I'd go back to again ("Hey, the line at PF Chang's is out the door, let's go to Earl's instead"). Good cocktail list, entrees were tasty but not fantastically so, desserts were pretty darned good. Service was friendly and attentive."

  • "My last few time to Earls have been disappointing. The food is mediocre. Earl has always been known for "Earls Girls." They have many attractive waitresses. Unfortunately, that was the only qualification of my last 2 servers. More noticable was that they were inattentive, not friendly and untrained. Specifics that I remember: Don't know how to open a bottle of wine, not offered taste or cork, after initial pour never a refill; Had to ask for everything, often twice (she wouldn't come check or anticipate needs); Empty drink glasses had to be set on end of table in a row to get noticed; and When hosting a large group, waitress brought check when SHE decided we were done. We moved to the bar for a round of drinks."

  • "Thought we were going to a place for dinner, didn't realize we were going to a night club. If you like live music go, if you want to talk during dinner stay far away!!!!!!!"

  • "This is a bar with a restaurant attached. The bar is awesome; the bar food is awesome - burgers, etc. are really, really good. However don't try to get anything more than that - I ordered the salmon - seemingly simple - but it was so "fishy" and dry that all I could think is that the salmon walked from the ocean to Denver prior to being cooked, and then adding insult to injury they so overcooked it that his walk was wasted. Bottom line - go for happy hour but dear lord don't go there for dinner."

  • "Music was way too loud. Playing heavy metal during the dinner hour. Most people ordered burgers as the menu has a very limited selection (e.g. burgers, steaks, salmon). We will not be returning in the future!"

  • "We've eaten at Earl's on a number of occasions, both at Park Meadows and on 16th Street and we consistently receive great service with delicious food choices. It's a little pricey, but we expect it for the quality we have experienced..nice to dine at a place you can count on quality."

  • "We had a very nice Valentine's evening. Earl's is conveniently located...has a nice menu...good food that is reasonably priced and very good service. We will definitely go back again."

  • "Brought the family (w two 12 year olds) for an early evening (545p) Valenines Day dinner. We were seated promptly and cheerfully attended to by the knowledgable waitress. Clam Chowder was hearty with clams and vegetables. Burgers and Pacific Salmon were filling and flavorful. The arena-like TVs in the dinning room may not be everyones cup of tea. But they seemed to fit in Earl's vibrant and music filled room. Not overbearing, the media and sound seemed just right for the room. As stated previously, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. They were a perfect fit for the place! Be prepared to spend over $100-$150 (w alcohol) for a family of four. I would recommend for groups or special occasions."

  • "Moderate to high price range. The food was very good and the service was also good. We attended on New Years Eve so the atmosphere was very energetic and the staff were all decked out in New Years gear. The steak and fish were both excellent, as were the appetizers and drinks. The service was also good because they checked in often, but also gave us time to actually enjoy the food before inquiring how we were doing. Overall a very positive experience"

  • "Been to Earl's many times downtown but chose to try this one. Service was outstanding - had a new server (Amber) who was most knowledgeable about the menu choices and made some excellent recommendations. This was a business dinner on a Monday evening - a slow night but it was a great choice. Good food, solid wine selection and outstanding service made my visit an excellent one. I will be back.."

  • "Haven't been to Earl's in a very long time so we thought we'd try it. It has definitely gone from a restaurant to a sports bar/restaurant. Good place to go if you want better than bar food but want to watch a game. Food wasn't anything to write home about but definitely is better than bar food. Just wasn't what we were expecting based on previous visits. Could be viewed as similar to a CB & Potts."

  • "Very lively, live music was playing, guests were having a great time. Perfect for larger parties celebrating or for a fun night out. This was a business dinner for me - so the noise level was quite high and made it more difficult for us to complete our business; however, would definitely go back for a more casual evening. Our table ordered salmon, pasta and pad thai - all were very tasty and prepared perfectly. The service was very timely, professional and helpful."

  • "We went on New Year's Eve. Our reservations were 5:15 so not much of a crowd. We were seated in an empty dining room at a U-shaped booth that looked directly into the kitchen. The host asked if this table was OK & I said not really. We asked if we could have another table since they were all empty. And due to the fact my husband is so tall we prefer tables over booths. The answer was no because others with reservations need those tables. Then why did you ask me if this was OK I asked him, he just laughed & walked away. We sat there for 52 min. before the next table was sat. Ironically, a couple came & was seated at a table & asked to sit at a booth. Their request was granted. We were there for 1.25 hours and only 2 other tables joined us."

  • "...my husband's fish tacos were dry. Very dry. My portabello mushroom sandwich was great, my coctail was perfect, and the waitress was spot on. Definitely an older crowd, at least this evening (New Year's Eve)."

  • "Earls was a nice lunch to end a morning with the girls. Service was excellent, food was good and ambient noise was quiet enough to have a conversation."

  • "Have not been there for a number of years for lunch. It used to be packed, sometimes with a wait to get in for lunch. Now it was 25% full and the lunch was very expensive, $50.00 for two. It used to be a very classy pleasing place but not it is just another expensive place for lunch. The food was good and the service was excellent, but the classy servers were gone."

  • "Totally funky ambience ... and not in a good way. Some rustic chandeliers (think wrought iron), some made of animal horns, some screening that looked like it was from a 1970s steak house, Formica-like fake wood table tops. Loud club-like music. Just all-around strange. The food, however, was great. We ordered the mini chicken tacos from the appetizer selection (delicious - unexpected twist) and each ordered a salad for our entrees - both were very tasty with light vinegrette dressing and unexpected flavorful ingredients - nice presentation as well. Saw some burgers go by that looked fabulous also. We shared a slice of their seasonal pumpkin pie - good standard pie - nothing out of the ordinary."

  • "It was my first time dining at Earl's. I found the menu just a bit limited, but the food was good, as was the service. We had to ask for a table away from the band because we wanted to be able to chat without shouting over the music. That was a bit disconcerting, although the band was good. Music during the dinner hour (6-9) probably should be more of a background music."
