Eagle's Nest - Hyatt Regency IndianapolisRomantic 1st AnniversaryWe celebrated our wedding anniversary on Saturday. Overall, the experience was very good. However, the volume of the "lounge seating" area was a little too loud. It made it difficult to have a conversation. Also, there were several people who were not dressed according to the "business casual" dress code. Several people in shorts and torn jeans. The restaurant didn't commit to that, and it detracted from the evening a little.
Portion size on the appetizers was a bit lacking, but dinner was a good portion. The Ten Signature Salad which was ok but the Salad with Mango's and Cashews was delicious. We both ordered the Prime Rib which was very tender. The only thing is that when we ordered it, the menu said it just came with potatoes so we ordered a side of asparagus but when it arrived it had asparagus with it so I wish the waiter had told us so we didn't waste 8.00. For dessert I got the Banana Crème Brulee. It was very good. After eating we waited quite awhile for the elevator. The Hostess called to see if there was a problem but by that time it finally came. It was a little pricey for everyday but a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience!Our luggage did not arrive before our reservation and the restaurant has a business casual dress code; the staff sympathized with our inconvenience, let us in wearing jeans and shorts AND Erin bought us the first round of drinks to help us unwind! WOW! The entire staff was super great from the very pleasant hostess to the very attentive waiter. The food was awesome - the crab cakes were superb, the lobster chowder was unbelievable and the Pork Cheek was unlike anything I have ever tasted before. The desserts - we tried four out of 6 and there wasn't a crumb left on any of the dessert plates. The view is breath taking and the staff points out the landmarks as the restaurant revolves slowly around in a circle. We ate at twilight and in my opinion, there is no question that the ideal time to eat here is around sunset - when the sky is darkening and the night lights come out. David had the lobster corn chowder which I loved even though I don't like lobster! The entrees were adventurous, the creators of the menu were not afraid to take risks. BF had their signature herb crusted prime rib. And it just melted your mouth! The wine list was really good, and our server was highly educated about both the menu and the wine list. Desert cocktails were also excellent, although we did not order the actual dessert. The view of course is unbeatable. We even got to see a ball game going on! We enjoyed our dinner. Parents with picky eaters should note that there is no true kids menu. The kids menu is a disposable salad- a pice of grilled chicken- and pumpkin mousse. This was fine as it is not a restaurant for kids and my nine year old also ordered steak fries on the adult menu along with her meal. My dinner of crab flaked halibut was excellent and the service was good. The rotating platform provides an outstanding 360 view of the Indianapolis skyline, the State Capitol building, Lucas Oil Stadium, Victory Stadium, and surrounding Marion County. It's truly awesome and moves so slowly (takes an hour for one full rotation) that you almost don't notice that the scenery is changing. The server was warm and friendly and helped us make our selection which turned out to be of excellent taste and attractively presented. After our entrees were finished the server offered us free desserts for our anniversary. We were totally satiated by the food, drink and the vista after one complete revolution of the restaurant.
