Diner Reviews
  • "We have eaten at E3 several times since they opened. It's our favorite restaurant in Steamboat Springs! Always such a good time and wonderful food. The staff is super - competent and friendly."

  • "First time there for dinner. It is a nice and different variety than the other restaurants in town. Excellent service and food."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful and is located on the lovely Yampa River in downtown Steamboat Springs. Unfortunately, the food does not live up to the facility. The competition among restaurants here is amazing with 3 or 4 restaurants having world class food but E3 is not in that group. In fact, the food was better at the restaurant that previously operated at this location. The prices are as high or higher than the best restaurants in Steamboat. Hopefully, the food can catch up to the prices and the facility. In spite of its mediocre food and high prices, I would recommend trying this restaurant for the sake of enjoying its beauty and ambiance."

  • "Nice experience with great view overlooking river. Service and food were as one would expect in this price point. Really decent but not likely to blow you away. I will be back."

  • "The view and spot anew great. Didn't have steak, but the tuna special was great, as was the service. Bummed to lose Cottonwood but happy that E3 is doing well."

  • ". The manager Dave is to be commended for his attention to detail and moreover customer service that is raising the standard in steamboat ! He is working feverishly to train, and create a culture of caring and attentive servers and it is apparent! We had a stellar meal with outstanding and timely service.....thanks Dave for your conviction to excellence!"

  • "Relaxed and peaceful dining on the patio, overlooking the river as groups of tubers floated by. Almost distracted me from a fabulous lobster roll!"

  • "We enjoyed our dinning very much. The Elk Tenderloin was super and would recommend highly. They let us have a half order of the Risotto as a side - very good. We also split the Calamari appetizer, which was a special that evening and not another fried dish. It too was very good. The only issue I had was the Syrah wine was not chilled properly. Otherwise, everything was super and we booked a table for new years evening when we are back in town for the ski season. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating."

  • "Nice chophouse. Good but not extraordinary except if you can sit outside by the Yampa."

  • "It is nice to have this lovely location back for evening dining. It was very crowded, even for a weeknight but the noise level was tolerable. It does help that no music was playing causing diners to raise their voices to overcome the music. The food was good and there were plenty of staff who seem to be quite cooperative."

  • "We have found the food, atmosphere and service outstanding at E3 and recommend it to everyone we know headed to Steamboat."

  • "E3 Chophouse was great, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and the restaurant took great care of us. They put us at a very romantic table with a great view of the river on the outdoor patio. The server was great and the food tasted great. Thank you for the experience."

  • "Our meal was absolutely incredible. We have been wanting to eat at E3 for a while now, and finally goin time. Our service was absolutely horrible! The waiter took at least 25 minutes to get our order, and we ended up asking another waiter for service in addition to our assaigned waiter."

  • "A great find. Food was excellent. A little expensive if you have a big family but a great place to celebrate special occasions. The staff was great....friendly and on the spot with requests. A must visit when in Steamboat. The LaRoche family know how to treat people right."

  • "The patio is beautiful with great fire pits right on the river. It is very nice with a rustic feel. Our service was exceptional and I strongly recommend it to anyone in the Steamboat area."

  • "My wife and I decided to give E3 a second chance for our Anniversary after a disappointing visit a few weeks after its opening. This time it was ideal for our special occasion. Scenery, service, and food was great! This time the dining experience supported the tab. We both had filets, wedge salad, mashed potatoes, and mushrooms. I had the Old Fashioned cocktail and it might have been the best I've had! My only criticism would be the speakers by the outdoor tables weren't ideal for conversation. We had a wonderful dining experience for our 15th Anniversary! Well done!"

  • "E3 was a really great dining experience. The food was very good The portions are large"

  • "The happy hour food selections is diverse and we had two apps that were tasty. The beer any wine selection is very good as well. Once we sat down for dinner, we had a great meal. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the lobster Mac and cheese was great."

  • "Should have known the wine Sommelier was a fraud when we told him several wines we liked as a comp for a recommendation and he was unresponsive and only looked at the wine menu--- we allowed him to choose a Pinot from a small winery .... It was nothing like what we wanted and it ruined the experience .... The whole place is heavy and overpriced .... Several other and better in SB...."

  • "Food was good, but steak ordered medium rare came out well done. I would have let the waitress know but didn't want to wait any longer. All the other food was good and the manager was very accommodating to a family with 2 kids. The setting on the river is beautiful."

  • "This was our second time eating dinner at E3. The outdoor patio is great. Unfortunately, the food is not very good. On both occasions we had a total of 3 diners. The quality of the steaks was not consistent with the prices charged and they were not cooked properly. This last time, we had a piece of half eaten bread in our bread basket apparently left by a previous diner. I would not recommend for dinner but the outdoor area is great for drinks by the Yampa."

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at E3 Chophouse. The ambiance was intimate and romantic and the food was amazing. The Filet Minon was one of the best I've ever had (second only to Prime in Las Vegas). Everything was perfectly prepared---even the coffee! This is a place you will want to take your time to savor. Biggest regret is that we brought our two daughters. The Kids Menu was nothing more than you would find at a chain restaurant and the experience was too long for them."

  • "Beautiful patio and view, but the food and service were not good. The steaks were not cooked to the correct wellness (1 undercooked, 2 over cooked), the sides did not arrive with the steak, and the soup was not what was listed as the soup of the day."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "We enjoyed a four top right on the river on a beautiful summer night, Kenny our server was delightful and helpful in choosing selections. It was a lively evening all the way around!"

  • "Had an amazing night at E3 Chophouse. We threw a small surprise party for my boyfriend in the bar area and all the workers were very accommodating with the time for dinner. Afterwards we had a couple's dinner outside and our waiter was fantastic. All in all a very great experience and will definitely recommend to others for small events and delicious dinners."

  • "We have been to E3 several times. The restaurant has settled down from its opening very nicely - the service, food, everything is very good. We sat outside along the Yampa River last week. The ambience of sitting out there was off the charts good. The only issue was the sun - it was fairly blinding for the people facing to the west. The restaurant looks great - the outside tables look great - there is not a lot of extra room, but some umbrellas would be helpful. The owners have done an excellent job with the out door dining - it is a great addition to Steamboat Springs."

  • "We enjoyed a great meal. Server was attentive even though he was very busy. Sommelier was very knowledgeable. Manager came by to make sure everything was fine."

  • "My husband enjoyed his NY Strip but my Filet was chewy and the side vegetables were Cooked Radishes, Cabbage, and Carrots. I eat almost anything but this was kind of strange for $36. There was no starch or sauces included for that price. I ordered the side of Asparagus Bernaise and it was excellent - huge portion cooked well. My husband's side was Lobster Mac and Cheese and it was good but not fabulous. Our bill was $100 for two entrees, two sides, and one beer so just a bit much compared to the other upscale restaurants in town which offer better steaks for the same price that include a side and lovely sauces. Lovely Setting however and we will try some other things."

  • "Another great steak this weekend but the best part was the new outdoor patio. That's key in the summer. Wish the side veggies were better this time but overall it was great."

  • "Reviewed the menu on-line before going, found out that not all items listed on the menu were available at dining time. The salad sizes were overall too large. Could have shared one between the two of us. Would like to see more of a selection around chicken. The meats and seafood options were fine. The service was enjoyable and attentive. $$$ even with a discount. Would be good for special occasions. Not something we would come to weekly or monthly."

  • "I had heard the wait staff was not up to par, we did not have that experience, we felt they were attentive, polite and timely. We love steakhouses and make it a point to eat at one wherever it is we travel. As Steamboat residents we were elated to find out we finally were going to have one here. E3 is a new restaurant in town and will need some time to settle in, kitchen staff/management/service. So, good location, good staff, need a bit of attention to the kitchen and a bit more creative on the dishes."

  • "Two hostesses and neither one said hello until after we did. We waited almost 10 minutes before our server came over and she did not introduce herself or apologize for the wait; she just asked if we wanted wine. The Prime Rib was okay but the crust on the meat was entirely salt; if there were other spices I couldn't taste them. I liked the atmosphere and the outdoor patio is great for good weather as it sits right along the Yampa River, but based on the lack of service and the quality of food not matching the price we won't be back. Plenty of other places in town to enjoy a steak and a view of the river."

  • "This is one of two reservations we had while in Steamboat. At the chophouse we had a table for 4, two adults, two children and were promptly shown to our table on arrival, no wait. The staff was cordial and friendly from the start to finish. The ambiance is rustic industrial with elements that control the sound level. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. The vegetables and meat were done simply and well...nothing over or under cooked, we really enjoyed our seasonal green salad that turned out to be spinich..but with a noticably fresher taste to it than bagged spinich. Overall we were so stuffed they didn't even want dessert! We got a apple cobbler anyways and it was delicious...not clingy or too sweet. Recommended."

  • "We waited for several months to try E3 since it had very mixed reviews at the opening. Unfortunately we were disappointed. We went on a Sunday night for BBQ night. The chicken was so dry you could hardly cut it. It really tasted like it had been cooked another day and reheated. The pork was decent, the beef was a little dry but edible. The presentation of the food was not appetizing. They took a large plate and slopped six dollops of different items on the plate with a piece of cornbread. The service and staff were very friendly so I give them high ratings. We had high hopes for E3. Somebody really needs to look and taste the food leaving the kitchen. A great wait staff will not cut it at these prices."

  • "One of the better tables in Steamboat these days. Had the short rib which was like a big piece of roast beef. The pot roast was tasty as well. The truffle fries are amazing. Nice beer selection and interesting wine list. Great views of the river. This place is a keeper."

  • "E3 was a wonderful dining experience. We arrived early enough to enjoy the view of the Yampa River as it flowed past the restaurant. There is a firepit outside if one wanted to have a drink and enjoy the view. The service was impeccable, just enough attention. The stand out was the food! The carpaccio, shrimp cocktail and truffle fries were amazing appetizers. The crab and filet were everyone's favorite for main course. This was a special occasion and we were able to havie a relaxing, non rushed dining experience. That is so refreshing when most restaurants are anxious to turn tables. If you are in Steamboat Springs and want a memorable meal, head for E3 Ranch!"

  • "Went with son and wife for Mom's Day dinner. Staff was great, food was even better. Lamb chops for the wife, chicken for me. E3 noted for its beef choices, straight from the LaRoche ranch, but the other menu options worth exploring. Dessert (flourless chocolate cake) I'm told was great. I enjoyed tremendously bar creation featuring local bourbon, maple syrup, bacon and apple reduction. View of the Yampa River an added bonus, and once the weather improves (Snow on Mother's Day?) some outdoor dining will be available as well."
