Service was excellent, including the sommelier who was very friendly and knowledgeable. My dinner date's meal was very good (oven roasted oysters and braised short rib), while my meal was sub-par. The evening's gumbo came across like a bowl of brown gravy, and the wood oven-roasted grouper was overly salty...I couldn't finish it. I think the salt came from the fish's seasoning along with the broth and pieces of ham. For me, excessive salt in restaurant meals seems to be occurring more and more. Back off on the salt and let the diner add it as needed.

Went out with my ladyfriend and another couple that we're friends with. Started off with an two apps, the oysters and an order of their trademark barbecue shrimp....both were delicious, as expected. As for entrees.....I ordered the lamb chops, my lady got a cap of rib eye; and the other couple got pork chops and shrimp & grits for the gentleman and lady, respectively. I can say with first-hand experience that all of the dishes cane with hihh expectations, and none of them disappointed. Finished off with some banana cream pie for dessert and it couldn't have been a better ending. Wine pairings from the resident master, Dylan, were ALL on point. I highly recommended this place for ANY special occasion, even just a random Tuesday night out!

We had a 2 waiters, a young lady and a gentleman named Matt, they both were great but Matt was overly friendly and he made it easy on my date an i. Plus it was our first date and Matt helped to keep the conversation playful and light by coming back to check on us and offering the Cheesecake pumpkin pie chocolate chip cake. Great time and great service!

While the food was of course, delicious, what we took away from our visit was that the service was impeccable, friendly and very professional. I'll give you an example: We had two servers, for a party of four, and when it came time to serve the dinner course, ALL FOUR plates were placed on the table in unison. I love that.

Walking in the door both hostess make you feel welcome with their huge smiles. Mickey the manager and Kevin behind the bar take lots of time in creating their specialty drinks. They make a tremendous drinks with wheat grass and also one with a lavender foam. I know crazy right? Lavender foam. They were both amazing. I also tried the lemon spritzer and could have easily had 3. The food is always delicious from their kitchen. We tried their gumbo in addition to the quail appetizer. Chef Mattola's special was a meat dish with shaved truffles. Talk about tasty. One of our guests claimed to have a sensitive palate but polished off the soup, salad and entree... Dillon the Sommelier has a great taste for wine.

Great cocktails--unusual, but delicious! Innovative appetizers--we tried the pecan praline braised bacon on a bed of julienne pears--heaven! Ordered the classic Shrimp and Grits and discovered a twist there, too--rice grits! They were super creamy and the shrimp were done just right. The sauce is so good no one has any left in their bowl. Have to return another time and try dessert, just know it will be fabulous, too! The outdoor tables looked nice, but the thunderstorms drove us inside. They have a very nice Gluten Free Menu--just ask for it!

Being from out of state, it was serendipitous we found e2! The food was phenomenal, the atmosphere was bright, open, energetic (without being too loud). All employees were on their game, taking time to pamper and engage the guests in conversation, while ensuring everything was 'just so' at the table. Dishes were served without interrupting our discussion, yet new dishes were served with professional subtlety. A genuine pleasure, and we WILL return!

Food was as wonderful as you would expect from Emeril. Service was stellar (Drum and Matt). We had roasted beet salad with goat cheese, fried green tomatoes with crawfish, Grouper and lobster linguine. Friend had the double cut pork chop and it was quite impressive. I was surprised by how large the portions were considering this is haute cuisine. This was our second visit to this restaurant and experience was consistent with the last visit.

I had dinner here on Friday night prior to a jazz concert. I informed the wait staff I was on a schedule and they were very conscientious of being sure I left in time. The main course was amazing! I had the Shrimp and Grits. The wine list was nice. The dessert was not as good as I had hoped. I ordered the Key lime Pie. But the staff and the Manager/Owner along with the head chef were wonderful! I'd go back for that reason alone.

We ordered the shrimp and grits, and the lobster+English pea linguine. Food was average, took a little long to come up. Service was good. Overall I expected more. wasn't blown away.

I had a note in the reservation that it was our anniversary and asked for a quiet table. This may not have been necessary considering it was a Monday night, but we got a portion of the restaurant to ourselves and everyone wished us a happy anniversary at some point! I had the mussels appetizer: excellent. My husband had the gumbo. I had the shrimp and grits for dinner which was also really good, and he had the ribeye special with fried oysters and mashed potatoes. The steak was quite good, but the potatoes were average. Dessert, however, was the star of the night. Not only did both plates come with "happy anniversary" in lovely decorative writing and a candle, but the beignets and key lime cheesecake were amazing. Really.

The servers were wonderful and were helpful in making choices. There are lots of hard ones to make at e2! Four of us went in for appetizers and dessert after a long day at the convention center. Wish we didn't have a 3 hour drive home so we could have stayed longer and enjoyed an entree'. The roux used in the gumbo and shrimp app was spot on! The table had several orders of their version of oysters Rockefeller ... and I considered having another order as dessert. Instead, we had the best banana cream pie anywhere! Blueberry crepes were also wonderful and they make their own ice cream.... So now we are hoping for an E2 to come to Raleigh.... at least then we'd only have to drive 1 1/2 for Great Creole

We were seated as soon as we walked in the door. The atmosphere was very nice and mellow. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and explained the menu and how things were prepared, which was nice. The gumbo was good but almost like a stew which was my appetizer. My wife's oysters were the best and most flavorful that I have tasted. Her shrimp and grits was nice, but my salmon was the star. Beautiful flavor with the corn and beans . The best and most unique salmon that I have ever tasted. The other star was the banana cream pie. Beautiful and naturally sweet without being too sweet. The tres leches was dry but tasted good. E2 is thus far my favorite in Uptown. Highly recommend.
