This casual American eatery features an eclectic selection of appetizers, salads, seafood and steaks, as well as some of Emeril's New Orleans and Southern-style dishes, homemade desserts and modern American classics with a twist.

Find your favorite spot to enjoy Emeril's cooking or watch the action up close: from the chef's food bar--the centerpiece of the eatery where you can interact with the chefs as they work at their various cooking stations–-to the raw bar featuring fresh seafood, shellfish and fresh shucked oysters. At the bar, select from two house punches, local brews on tap or a handcrafted vintage and modern cocktail made with homemade infusions and syrups, plus a full menu of delicious bar snacks. We look forward to making your dining experience at e2 most memorable.

Diner Reviews
  • "First, the service was excellent. All staff members were energetic and polite and attentive. Rainbow trout was really good, but unfortunately, the remaining dishes, for what they charge, were just mediocre. BBQ shrimp was overcooked (kinda mushy) and sauce was more suitable for pork. It had coffee / dark cocoa undertones that just didn't work for the shrimp. It was also paired with a small (rock hard) biscuit that seemed like a pointless addition given its staleness. The calamari was "OK" and was "dumbed-down" by the honey mustard sauce. Who does that?! Fail. Should have used a lemon aioli like Amen Street in Charleston. That works. The grouper with mussels, black rice and picante sauce? Dry fish & ordinary sauce. Shrimp and Grits? Weird."

  • "Love Emril on TV. My second time dinning here. Food is great. Original and unique cocktails. Great dinning experience"

  • "Upon arrival we were seated immediately. Oddly as chilly as it is outside, it was colder inside. So I put my hat back on and pulled my collar up to continue to dine. We placed our order & sat for at least 45 mins before our dinner was served. I had 2 apps: mussels & fried green tomatoes. My guest had the trout. He also had the key lime pie. It was HUGE! We both enjoyed our meals. But it took SO LONG to get our food and I was shivering the whole time I waited. That's my only reason for the good and not outstanding rating."

  • "I've been to this restaurant several times over the course of two years and the food selection on the menu wasn't exquisite as I was used to. When my food arrived it was cold and I dined by the chefs table and was able to see all that took place. Due to the fact it was close to the end of the night many chef's were talking and eating food instead of taking care of the duties at hand. When I sent my food back to get back to a desirable temperature the food came back only warmed up. I took the food to go however did not further consume my left overs . I was thoroughly disappointed with my dining experience and may consider other restaurants in the future. The manager did remove the dinner from the final bill."

  • "We ate outside on a an absolutely gorgeous, "Chamber of Commerce" kind of night. The Criterium was going on, 2nd night of the Charlotte Knights, Tosco Music party, and more. The city was really buzzing. Great vibe. Great food, service, choices, etc. The food was very well priced for what you got. the prices were not crazy. My wife and I each had an appetizer, main course and a glass of wine, and with 20% tip, was about $110. Would highly recommend."

  • "Flew in from Manhattan for an overnight trip. Wanted to dine at a restaurant walking distance from the Westin. Enjoyed my total experience. Service was great, staff was attentive and the food was excellent !"

  • "Went to e2 on Saturday night. We have been many times since it opened, but this was the first time in at least 6 months. We have always liked this place, but it was dead on Saturday, very small crowd. The food was good, but limited specials and the menu seems like it has not changed in a long time. They also were out of the wine we ordered, which happens, but should be rare at a place like this. The service was good, but not amazing. Overall, it just seems like Emeril's might be losing its luster in the Queen City."

  • "Very good meal in downtown Charlotte. Service a little "cool" initially but better as time went on. Seated at bar overlooking the open kitchen. I was surprised that the Chefs did not interact at all with the bar diners at least some; not even a hello. Seated immediately but was a Wednesday night so not crowded. Did not offer any specials nor mention that none were featured. Told about the crawfish boil on Friday nights through the end of May before leaving."

  • "!In a word - superb! From the moment we entered the restaurant and until the time we left, we were treated like very special guests. We made reservations online through Open Table and were seated immediately. Our servers were attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcomed and cared for. We asked for recommendations and were delighted with the choices. The food was amazing and well prepared. A particular favorite was the shrimp and grits which was so good, creamy, and delicious that it was shear perfection. We managed to save more for dessert and were not disappointed. We ordered the sweet potato and chocolate cheesecake - yum! and the banana creme pie - yum! A fabulous dining experience and again - superb"

  • "Experience and food was good overall. There are a couple of things that prevent me from marking as Very Good or Outstanding. The entrée portions were fairly small, especially for the price. Also the food was heavily salted. The scallop entrée tasted great except for the salt. The boudin cake was really good, especially the collards that came with it."

  • "We had a long wait to be served our entrées. It seemed like staff new there was a screw up because they avoided coming by and checking up. Normally I don't have a comment on price but the glass wine was over the top expensive. The food was very good"

  • "Went there for a romantic dinner on a stay-cation and was not overwhelmed. Our table was rather deep so we were sitting far apart. The food was good but neither of us were wowed. My husband's chicken was delicious but the "street corn" had too much going on and you could not taste the corn. My shrimp and grits were good. The cheese plate only has two types of cheese and then pate and The wait staff was very attentive and amusing and the wine list was extensive but not a huge selection of by the glass. Our dessert was very good, the pecan tart with milk chocolate ice cream. Guess I just expected a bit more pizazz since the restaurant touts Emeril's name. Would probably not go back."

  • "Seeing that I go to numerous restaurants in every city I go to, Emerils really dropped the ball. Did not live up to the hype. Should've listened to the locals about it being a pricey chain restaurant ."

  • "I've been to several of Emeril's other restaurants and really enjoyed them. So I was surprised that e2 emeril's eatery fell short in several ways. The service was quite slow, and they were out of several entrees. Some of the food was overly salty - the sauce on the Trout Meuniere was actually inedible as it was so salty. The salads, including the roasted beets, were great, as were the desserts, and the vibe is nice as it s semi-casual and energetic. But overall, it was a disappointment. Here's hoping Emeril will make a trip to Charlotte and work his "Bam!" magic to fix up the kitchen at e2."

  • "This was our first time going there and I must say that me and my wife had an amazing time. It was her birthday and we loved everything. We had 7:30 reservations and they sat us right down as soon as we arrived. The service was great, we loved the open kitchen so you can watch the chefs perform and the food was OUTSTANDING!!! We most definitely recommend E2 to all of our friends."

  • "As a HUGE fan of Emeril's, I had been excited to try this spot, but hearing all the bad about it, I waited, thinking they would iron out the kinks. Also, knowing he would not waste his time on the Charlotte dinning crowd, kind of takes away some of the excitement. Food was ok and the advertised Mardi Gras menu was not available, "yet" according to the servers. Wine list is horrible at best. Drank cocktails and they were good."

  • "Food portions are small and I was very disapointed in the taste/quality of food. We have eaten at other Emeril restaurants that were fabulous. This one just doesn't make the mark for the price."

  • "My husband and I ate here for the first time before a show and had a great experience. The servers were outstanding, especially since we had a lot of questions and took our time making decisions. The food was excellent. I started with the house salad which I enjoyed- very fresh with lots of vegetable variety. For the entree we chose the filet topped with lobster special which was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We also tried the trout meuniere which was also very flavorful and prepared well. We squeezed in a giant piece of the banana cream pie which was also delicious. We will definitely go back."

  • "Whenever I am in Charlotte I make a point of going to E2 for dinner. The service is terrific and the food is great. It's a little pricey but I only get there once or twice a year and it's usually for a special occasion. It's located close to museums and the Knight and Belk theaters and down the street from a couple of Marriott hotels so it is easy to get around by walking rather then driving."

  • "The bar is better than the dull decor of the rest of the restaurant. No atmosphere back there at all. Good food. Good service most of the time."

  • "First time at e2. Choose it due to its proximity to the Levine Center for the Arts. Our food was good (I had the fried chicken and my husband the pork chop) but the service was spotty and the ambiance so-so. For the price range there are far better options in Charlotte."

  • "Our second visit to E2 was a sharp contrast to our first which was a great experience. The overall service was slow. The food was a major disappointment. Both meats in the chicken pork dish with mac and cheese were served cold. After some effort we brought this to the attention of the staff. Instead of taking the entire meal back to be done properly,, we had the pork returned to be re heated. It was adequate at best. The only saving grace was the mac and cheese was hot and tasty. The manager did comp us this meal. The second dish the scallops was not served as hot as it should have been. For a higher priced restaurant it was not close to the standards they should have or had on our first visit. Maybe it was an off night all around ."

  • "The food was good and service was good however compared to other Emeril experiences, there was slack of attention to detail. Even though we only dine at E2 once a year on our way to Key West we felt the dining experience was better in previous years."

  • "We have ordered paella on Valentine's Day. Have to say, that was a paella with a twist that didn't do the traditional recipe justice. Not enough seafood for an expensive dish for two--a piece of fish, several mussels, three or four large sea scallops. For some reason, everything was cooked separately and only then put together, so the dish lacked a cohesive flavor and many spices the traditional Spanish cuisine is famous for. Dish was overly salty too. On the upside, service was great, place was cozy, vine list is extensive. Nevertheless, those do not make up for bad food."

  • "This was our first time dining at e2 and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Had a 7:30 reservation on Sat evening and we were seated promptly. Note that this is a good time to go if there is an theatre performance as all the theatre-goers were leaving the restaurant. My husband had the gumbo and shrimp and grits which he thought were really good (esp the shrimp and grits) and I had the scallop dish. It came with some sort of chorizo "sauce" and I don't eat meat. The chef recreated the dish using a vegetable stock which was awesome. The black kale in the dish was amazing. We had the featured cheesecake Foster which had some fresh pears and a glaze sauce. It was unbelievable. Very light but full of flavor. Food was great!!"
