I've been to Dusty's once before
with my parents and enjoyed it so much that I made another reservation with my grandparents. Unfortunately, this time around was a little less pleasant than the first time I visited. The whole experience felt rushed. We hardly had time to enjoy our food as they cleared our plates the moment we were finished and they took away the bread before we were through. My grandma and I had the Thai penne pasta and had asked the waitress if it was spicy and she said it was more sweet than spicy. We both felt it was more spicy than sweet. It was not our favorite dish. My salad before the entree was very good. My grandfather liked his entree. Although I was let down, I will most likely give Dusty's another shot."

Dusty's is my FAVORITE place to
eat, drink in this area. However, they changed their lunch menu and it was not good. I used to love eating lunch, dinner. Now I'll just stick to dinner. "

Dusty's is more than a restaurant;
it is an institution. The care in sourcing and preparation is excellent. The wine list is excellent. I loved the Chateau Fontaine wines."

Dusty is a great restaurant. The
wine list is amazing and they have a store where they sell all if their wine so if you want to take any home with you. The food was outstanding as always. We had the beef tournedos and Mahi Mahi. Cooked to perfection and very tastey. Can't wait to go back. "

I have eaten here twice over two
years. The food remains overrated, especially at Dusty's prices. The poorly prepared fatty duck breast was not worth $27 a copy, more resembling something served at an average chain restaurant at half the price. "

Dined here recently with my wife
for first time to try brunch. My wife ordered a classic eggs benedict & I got heuvos rancheros. My fried eggs were cooked fine but my wife's "poached" eggs were cooked to a hard boil. We tried to mention it to the waitress but she never followed up with us to see how the food was until we were nearly finished. My wife did not eat the improperly cooked egg and I showed the waitress what it looked like. She was clueless and looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. The mini muffins served were good but when we asked the waitress what kind they were she just said that they varied and she didn't know. Based on this experience I doubt we will not atempt to try dinner."

We were celebrating my birthday
and decided on Dusty's because it was close and we had heard good things about the restaurant. It was our first time to dine in the wine bar and unfortunately our last. The service was good but the food lacked flavor and my husbands fish was cold. For the price we were expecting so much more. We will continue to go to the Tap Room for the fun atmosphere and good food."

My wife and I went to two nice
restaurants this weekend. Dustys blew the other restaurant out of the water. The grouper special and beef tournedos were to die for. The wine list, longer than the menu. In a good way though. Go check it out if you haven't been there. If you have go back soon."

Typically we love Dusty's Wine
Bar. This time we were met with slow service, over seasoned and over cooked food, and poor food quality. Not what we have previously experienced from Dusty's in previous visits. While our waitress was courteous she was overwhelmed with two large parties and our table during a weekend night. and the food she delivered was less than desirable and turned out by the kitchen slow. In addition, the restroom was in less than satisfactory condition with fruit flies and a constantly running commode. It will be a while before we gamble again at this restaurant."

Wife and I had a very relaxing
enjoyable dinner at Dusty's. We really liked that we did not feel rushed through our meal. Appetizer, salad, main course were all brought out at just the right time. The food was very good and the atmosphere relaxing."

I wanted to go somewhere nice for
my birthday, but the restaurants I knew of in the area weren't up to par. I found this restaurant on OpenTable and decided to try it. We had no expectations, but it turned out to be a great surprise. We were all happy with our meals. I had the Hanger Steak which was just what I wanted. My cocktail was very good. My father was impressed with the wine list and thought the prices were definitely reasonable. He would know since, he works with wines at a country club. We really liked the ambience of the place and service was very good. I will definitely try it again and even visit their bakery."

Excellent red snapper special. Service tonight was fantastic--professional but warm and engaging. My daughter and I make a trip to Dusty's every year now that she is too old to attend the Daddy/Daughter dance. She appreciates the food and the atmosphere."

My girlfriend and I dined here for
her birthday on Thursday night. Our server was a very nice guy. We ordered a bottle of wine to celebrate the occasion. Our server was trying but didn't know how to do wine service-- we thought that was kind of strange for a wine bar. The appetizer was a fried goat cheese ball with some honey dijon dressing which tasted pretty good. The filet tasted awesome! The beef tournedos were also very tender but came with some avocado sauce that tasted really sour. We decided to skip the dessert because of birthday cake at home but they still brought over a nice brownie treat for the special occasion."

Dusty's Cellar has yet to
disappoint me. Whether I'm on a romantic date or treating a friend to lunch or having dinner w/my adult children, it always delivers exceptional service AND food! Their wine list is really good!!! As I've mentioned, I've yet to be disappointed. Good stuff!"

I've eaten at Dusty's Cellar many
times for both lunch and dinner and the experience has ranged from good to outstanding---this evening it was terrific, from the opening lobster fritters through salads and entrees, with the usual excellent wine (this time by the glass, plenty of good choices). It's especially nice to enjoy dishes which feature regional ingredients like cherries and whitefish. Hint to light eaters: Dusty's portions are American Midwestern (generously sized) and some food combinations can be 'too much of a good thing', but they are happy to provide 'doggy bags' in recyclable containers!"

I've been going to Dusty's for
many years. It's always been a bit pretentious but still one of the best places around on the east side. However, two lunches in a row (within two weeks) have been really disappointing. The first day I had the chicken crepes and they've just become too decadent...way too rich, perhaps I'm more sensitive lately. The second day was, by far, worse. The fish and chips (and my companion's monte cristo) were just bad. The fries (waffle cuts for me, regular for her) were cool and the regular ones were soggy...not good. The fish was too bready and seemed like it had been lost in the deep-fat fryer for days. Picked off all of the breading--wasn't much left. The monte cristo was pedestrian. Service was good!"

Dusty's is one of our favorite
restaurants. When we go out to eat we want someplace that offers things we wouldn't cook at home and a good selection of wines by the glass as well as by the bottle. Although Dusty's has excellent steaks, for instance, we typically go for something else. This time we started with the Dusty's sampler which includes lamb chops, spring rolls, duck slices, and a couple of other tasting size dishes. Our entrees, Mediterranean braised beef, berriere lamb chops, and butternut squash risotto with duck all were prepared perfectly. Each entrée includes a choice of salad but we managed to leave room for dessert. The choices there are numerous and all wonderful so making a selection was a challenge! Great choice to go."

dinner, special large party and just to the bar and haven't been disappointed yet!! Food has been great, staff has been accommodating, wine list and beers on tap have been great for our meals. I have highly recommended for out of town friends and they have also loved it!"

Everyone keeps raving about
dusty's so we had some gift certs and thought we'd give it a try. The calamari was some sort of odd spongy material. Meaty but I had to wonder what part of the squid it was. I had the Tournedos which were decent but my wife seared tuna was more medium well than seared. I'd go again but not my first choice."

Our third visit to Dusty's was
after a recent MSU home game. We arrived early for our reservation which was not a problem and we were seated right away. Great choices on a somewhat limited menu. I have always had the nightly seafood special which was fresh Florida pompamo. Prepared superbly as was the chicken and pasta entree's the others in our group had. Servers are always well versed on all of the menu items and their preparations. Friendly, casual with consistantly good food is the take away here. A very large wine list is one of the attractions to Dusty's and they have their own wine and gourmet store attached to the restaurant. Very casual pub type dining next door in Dusty's cellar. We will return on our next trip to the area."

Dusty's is an excellent choice for
special occasions, and for anytime you want a special meal. The professionalism of the waitstaff was outstanding; our waiter, Frank, was terrific and provided exemplary service. Our food was delicious, from the pecan-crusted goat cheese, the filet, the swordfish, the wine, even the complimentary brownie bites, provided for a most memorable dining experience. We were too full for dessert; however, Frank sensed my dining companion's interest in a particular seasonal dessert, and provided a complimentary "to go" dessert for her (she loved it!). When you dine at Dusty's, you expect an awesome meal (due to the excellent chef), the outstanding service raised the experience to the next level."

Went with another couple while in
Okemos. Had 4 different entries and all were excellent; pork rib chop, stuffed chicken breast, Osso buco and lamb chops. Server was great - attentive without being intrusive. Nice selection of wines. One small complaint; for a place known for wines I was surprised that they didn't have different glasses for different red wines. We had a Pinot noir and friends had a red zin and all received the same glasses. We had the Crete brûlée that was as good as any we've had anywhere."

I've been to Dusty's before. This
is my favourite restaurant in this area. The only reason I didn't give my review the full 5 Stars for food and service is due to my lobster fritters (great app!) being a bit on the over-crispy side. They tasted almost burnt. As well, my Hanger steak was charred on the outside to the point of tasting almost burnt. Both dishes were palatable and therefore they didn't return to the kitchen. The server was nice but took a minute to get to me (I was the later arrival) for my drink order. Once that was done and over with, all was good! She did a pretty good job! And I stand behind my review, still. I will return again and again as I mentioned how it is my fav in the Lansing area."

Many times I have enjoyed the
torta rustica at Dusty's. Imagine my surprise yesterday when the torta arrived and it was obvious that the dough had failed to expand, leaving a thin layer around what was still a delicious filling. I was particularly surprised that the kitchen staff permitted this to be served as the torta is a signature dish and as such, needs to be consistent. If the recipe has changed and they are no longer using brioche dough but rather something else, they need to say so or their diners will be disappointed."
