This is one place you'll never say "guess I won't order that again". The prime rib is the best anywhere and fried shrimp will feed you for two days - strawberry short cake is indescribable. Mostly we love seeing the same servers over the years. Happy and friendly and welcoming - can't do enough to please."

  • "A last minute choice for dinner, it had been many years since I had been in this place. A Saturday evening, but they accommodated us on very short notice. The place was jumping - every table and booth was taken and we grabbed the last four seats in the bar. The place was packed. This place is a throw-back - from the red velvet wall paper to the booths, you go through a time warp when you enter this place. This spot just has to be the place where deals are cut. Every town has one. This is for Phoenix. Food was outstanding, properly prepared and served efficiently. I would highly recommend this place to all steak lovers. But even if you do not like steak, the seafood selection was outstanding. Worth a drive from anywhere."

  • "Durant's is a Phoenix staple, we have never had a bad experience, until Saturday. I ordered the prime rib, medium rare with a quick sear as I have time and time again. My husband, the pork chop. Prime rib came out, no sear. The pork chop, cooked on the outside, raw on the inside. I sent my prime rib back for that quick sear to get it back with only one side seared. The rawness of the pork chop wasn't noticeable until my husband got close to the middle. Durant's did the right thing not charging for the raw pork chop but overall we were very disappointed. To make matters worse, we were quietly celebrating my husband's birthday and would have stayed for dessert and after dinner drinks but we just wanted to go home."

One was done perfectly, one was cooked the right amount but was incredibly salty-so much so the diner was washing her mouth out with water in between bites...and the third steak was a disaster. The first attempt at a medium rare steak was clearly closer to medium well. The manager responded nicely and arranged for another steak....this one was served almost raw. By this time everyone else in the party has finished eating and the dining experience was ruined. At least they said I didn't have to pay for the steak I never ate. How nice of them. Hitting one for three will get you in the Baseball Hall of Fame, cooking on out of three steaks correctly, not so much."

  • "We celebrated Mother's & Father's Day. Upon arrival, everyone greeted with warm hello. We started at the bar, enjoyed cocktails and conversing with the bar tender. Then to dinner, started with steamed mussels (to die for) and a bottle of champagne. We each ordered a filet mignon (again...to die for). Service was out standing. Pleasant, courteous and very attentive."

  • "This place was fantastic. Jazzy dim-lit, restaurant with a 1920's Chicago Mobster style feel about it. Food is priced well considering the quality, ambiance, and service you get with it. The hostess Michelle was very helpful in helping push out reservations back when we missed the light rail, then helped give directions to our next destination. Our waiter Chris was wonderful: full of suggestions on favorite dishes and wines to pair. Also helped get our dinner order put in right away so we could make it to our next destination on time. Would absolutely return to this restaurant, and will highly recommend."

  • "My wife and I attended Durant's for my 70th birthday steak dinner Sunday with a 4:30 afternoon reservation. We had dined at Durant's (our first experience there) four or five years ago and were pleased. Ordered the 8 ounce filet ($51) and specified pink throughout.   The server said medium, when the steak was brought to our table it was red and cool in the center (obviously rare). I sent it back and when it came back the center was still red and cool, . For the price they are charging the steak should be cooked correctly the first time, or at least the second time, sweet potatoes fries were undercooked . Left a 25% tip, Will not be returning. Regret not talking to the manager. Durant's is trading on their past reputation. P&C"

  • "Where to begin, everything about this place says class. The red leather booths, the low lighting, the very attentive staff, the menu. It's neat entering the restaurant through the kitchen. What makes this "steak joint" unique is that the sides are included, not ala carte. The prices are up there, but they do not nickel and dime you with the sides. Of course, other items such as mushrooms are extra."
