  • "My husband and I had a lovely date night at Duling Kurtz House! We both enjoyed our food, the service was superb, and the live piano music and singing was wonderful. I had the onion soup and lobster crepes. My husband had the baked brie and wiener schnitzel. Everything was beautifully presented, and very good. The popovers with lemon curd that are brought out at the beginning are simply amazing. Our waiter was young, knowledgeable of the menu, and very attentive. The atmosphere was beautiful. I can't say enough good things. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "Four of us dined at the Duling Kurtz all taking the Prix Fixe menu available from Sunday-Thursday. The arugula beet salad as a starter, had by three of us, was exceptional with fresh greens and ample beets. Two of us had the fish main course and two the Wiener schnitzel. All were well presented and excellent. Deserts also did not disappoint. This was a really great dining experience in a well appointed dining room."

  • "We had a lovely, romantic experience. The food was to perfection and the wine phenomenal. A pleasant surprise to my friend who is a foodie. The service was fantastic and the entire staff pleasant and helpful."

  • "I had a really enjoyable meal as did my guest. It started with appetizers. We had their escargot in a puffed pastry and a blackened scallop dish. Both were outstanding, though the escargot was extremely hot. The Ceasar salad prepared table side was very nice. I had a special entree that was fantastic. It was elk with prepared with an mango apple chutney and surrounded by assorted sauteed vegetables. It was delightful and not the least bit gamey. My guest had the rack of lamp and he raved about it. The wine selection was impressive and the lemoncello dessert was the perfect finish. VERY expense but I'm not complaining - it was great food, great service, great atmosphere."

  • "An overall lovely dining experience. Goes to the top of our list in the local area for quality of food, service, and ambiance, all at a reasonable price."

  • "This restaurant is amazing, because it offers different menu items than usually seen on the Mainline. We are so tired of the traditional fish or steak options and were very happy with the Wiener schnitzel and Spaetzel."

  • "We went to Duling-Kurtz to celebrate a belated Valentine's Day dinner. This was our second time dining there and I had asked to be in the Hunt Room. Not only did we get that room, but we got the same table we sat at our first time. The server we had was in a different room so we had Amy. She was phenomenal. Very energetic and a great addition to our date. The food was amazing. My boyfriend, who doesn't experiment with new food often, tried the short ribs and was blown away by them. I stuck with my favorite dish, the lobster crepes. Before we left, I made sure that the maitre de knew how impressed we were with Amy and we also got to see Ken who served us last time. He remembered us. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants!!!"

  • "Have loved this restaurant in he past but this time the service was extremely slow and I had to send my food back 3 times because it wasn't cooked right.!. I will chalk it up to being Valentines Day and they were very busy. I will try it agin on a not so busy day."

  • "We had another wonderful evening at DKH. Enjoyed several of the new, rather nontraditional menu items they have added recently. Everything was well prepared, and the service was friendly and attentive. ."

  • "Visited DK on Valentine's Day, so I will cut them some slack on the over 1 hour wait for our 7PM Reservation. Moving on to the food, everything was excellent. I got Lobster & Filet combo and my girlfriend got The Crab cake and Lobster combo. Both were cooked perfectly, her's welldone, mine medium-rare. The tuna sashimi appetizer with wasabi was mouth melting tender, Service from Ken was attentive and fun. However, the Valentine's desert, touted as vanilla ice cream and chocolate gellato in a hard chocolate shell. was pure liguid, flowing out on the plate as soon the shell was cracked. This was either wrong, or I was misinformed as to the nature of the desert. I commented about it to Ken, but there was nothing offered in return."

  • "Everything was great except the time between the reservation and seating which was 1 hour. They need a better reservation system. If you are planning to go, give yourself a lot of time"

  • "For the important Valentines Day it appeared they were greatly short staff in the kitchen. It took almost 30 minutes once the order was placed for the salad to be delivered followed by a very long wait until the entre appeared. The entres were delivered very hot, so the wait staff was not the issue. We skipped desert since we observed a table near us waited in excess of 30 minutes for theirs to be delivered. The recent snow storm (15-18") could have created their being short-handed which was a shame since they were filled to capacity. We will return, hopefully at a time they are properly staffed."

  • "My wife and I had Valentines Day reservations for 8:30pm and arrived 20 minutes early. There was really no where to park and no salt on the sheet of ice covering the lot. Once inside, we checked in at the hostess stand, but she didn't seem to have a list other than writing our names down after we told her our reservation. We then waited at the bar for an hour and twenty five minutes. The bartender was overwhelmed on his own. The house was packed and there were lots of people obviously in the same situation as us. Every time we asked where we were on the list and the wait time the hostess didn't know and was completely flummoxed. We left at 9:35, went to Vickers, were sat immediately and had a beautiful evening. Thank goodness for Vickers!"

  • "Wow. Where to start?? This place was so overbooked. It was Valentine's Day and looking forward to a pleasant meal and night with my wife. We had 7:30 a reservation. The first issue was parking. There was no parking and I had to park across the street. Crossing a icy highway. The second issue was when we walked in and there was a large crowd of people waiting for the hostess. It was Chaos. I spoke to some couples and they were running 45-50 mins behind their reservation time. As I mentioned, we had 7:30 reservations and we were 17 tables down on the list to be seated!!! So you think, hey go to a bar for a drink and wait? No way. We waited at the bar for 20 mins and could not even get a drink. Only one bartender to serve about 50 people!."

  • "On my smoked salmon appetizer were ritz crackers rather than toast points!! My husband found it very difficult to find any lobster in the "house specialty" lobster and crab crepes, in fact no lump crab as it said on the menu. Shredded perhaps...."

  • "I can't say enough good things about Duling Kurtz. Everything I've ever eaten there has been fabulous, and there's no beating the ambience of the fireplace on a winter's day. Try the Austrian dishes - they do not disappoint."

  • "My first visit to this restaurant was great! From the initial greeting, each person we encountered was pleasant, knowledgeable, and willing to assist in any way. Between the menu items and the specials I had a hard time deciding what to order but finally chose the alligator appetizer and the Roasted Duck. Both were excellent. I will return to this restaurant again!"

  • "Originally had 8:00 PM reservations for four people for New Year's Eve. Got a call asking if I could change to 8:30 and agreed. Arrived at the restaurant at 8:25, not seated until after 9:00. Seated in a lovely small room but waitress was not told we were there. Finally got drinks and placed dinner order. We had decided to leave if we did not receive any food by 10:00 PM, but appetizers arrived at 9:54. Popovers arrived about 15 minutes later. Our patience was wearing thin, and we had decided again to leave when the entrees finally arrived after 10:30. We asked for our check when the entrees were served so we could leave immediately after eating. Food was good, but by then, I didn't even want my meal and just wanted to escape."

  • "I've been to Dueling Kurtz several times now and have always found every aspect of my dining experience to be excellent! New Year's Eve was a wonderful way to end one year and bring in the new year. What I love most is the servers don't rush you through dinner. They are courteous and provide a very relaxed environment!"

  • "We had a lovely private room with a cozy fire in the fireplace. The waiter was wonderful - not intrusive if we were busy talking but attentive and added warm and pleasant remarks when appropriate. Service was leisurely, which fit our event perfectly, as we did not feel rushed. We were celebrating two family members birthdays, which I had noted in my reservations. Their desserts arrived with lighted candles and a round of "Happy Birthday to you!"."

  • "upon arrival, the hostess did not have our reservation (even though I had a confirmed email); service was lousy - we were virtually ignored for 15 minutes. I went looking for our server at one point and there were no servers in any of the rooms to flag down. This is inexcusable when the place was hardly busy. There were only a few tables filled. The staff were preoccupied with the crush that was anticipated during the late afternoon/evening hours - more than one server and more than one time mentioned that it was going to be "insane." We hardly felt like we mattered at all. We were simply a distraction from their fretting about the upcoming onslaught of 300 or so diners. We like the place but...."

  • "Our family always cook elaborate meals and feast with family &friends during the Christmas holidays. However this year, our family opted to try this restaurant. We made our reservation several weeks ahead of time. when we arrived at the restaurant, we were promptly seated at our table in a beautiful cozy room with a very nice fireplace. We were impressed by the food, service, atmosphere. I would definitely highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions. The grouper was cooked to perfection, the crab cakes were meaty and tasty, not loaded with fillers and creams, the fillet mignon was just perfect. Our server was excellent, the fireplaces were beautiful. We did not have to wait for anything, service was excellent and professional"

  • "Had to wait 40 minutes for table, food very good but slow service from kitchen and extremely expensive. I would not go for Christmas eve again. This was about our tenth time we have had Christmas eve dinner with them and was the first time we had an experience like this. I feel that they overbooked reservations."

  • "A very enjoyable dinner at Duling Kurtz. Our request to be seated near a fireplace was accomodated. The appetizers of scallops and crab cake were excellent. We had the rack of lamb which was perfectly prepared and seasoned."

  • "Our experience this time was good, but a bit variable. First of all, the parking lot was icy in areas and a small tree blocked both a driveway and walkway. The Inn itself is beautifully decorated and conveys a feeling of warmth, particularly on a cold night. The beet salad was excellent, but the fig and scallop salad, while tasty with a fig reduction, could have used some pieces of fig, which would have given it more body and added interest. The rack of lamb was succulent and beautifully done; my wiener schnitzel with spaetzle was bland, despite the ligonberries. Service was excellent and friendly."

  • "We dined at the Kurtz House on a Friday evening looking for a local place with good food and restful ambience. We were disappointed. While nothing was bad, there was nothing, except the service, to recommend. Parking on a snowy evening was difficult. The host was too busy to attend. The menu offerings were long on inventiveness -- they had camel for a special entre and both crocodile and alligator for apps -- but short on execution. Our weiner schnitzel was good. The crowd was joyous and our seat by the door gave us full access to the noise in the bar and the entertainer such that my wife and I had trouble holding a conversation. And the price of the meal was higher than we excepted. In all, another local Malvern spot crossed off our list."

  • "Only negative, a dessert was added to our bill that we didn't order and most importantly, my Mother who has arthritis had to walk up a flight of stairs and they didn't even seem to care, especially the manager."

  • "I took my fiance here for his birthday. Duling Kurtz did not disappoint-29 years later! We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation time and were seated without a wait. I didn't ask, but I believe they must pay attention to the "Special Request" statements on this site because we were seated in a cozy, romantic room with a roaring fire, just as I had asked. The only minor complaint I would have is that the service was somewhat slow, with diners who arrived at least 30 minutes after us being served their entrees first. I also received the incorrect appetizer, but our waitress fixed that promptly. I had the risotto entree-5++ stars! Fiance had NY Strip and was equally happy. Next time we'll skip the apps so we can have dessert!"
